I went to a Rush show at Great Woods two years ago and there was alot of tail-gating and drinking going on, along with some nuggage.
Went to Tool later that summer, same deal. There were cops on bikes and golf carts at the tool show, but they didn\'t harass us that bad.
Cops:"Are you doing anything you shouldn\'t be?"
Us: "No."
When i was there this past summer, there were no cops, except outside directing traffic, and they were like old as grandpas. Inside, it was just security in yellow shirts not doing much securing. They didn\'t even look old enough to have the job.
I haven\'t been to Greatwoods in a long time but that place has been known to have
**** security in the lot for a LONG time. That was why many many folks try to park in the private lots just outside the venue. They didn\'t make a huge fuss about people pre-gaming.
Jones Beach is also a notorious spot for
**** cops / rangers. It is a state park so the rangers have jurisdiction as well. Again haven\'t been there in years but they were totally out of control. They were hassling folks drinking out of cups. I mean adults, people of legal drinking age were getting harassed by the authorities.
Not to mention getting to Jones beach in June on a thursday or friday night is going to be a HUGE pain in the ass as traffic on the LIE is going to be crazy. I would say if you are planning on going to those shows take the ferry from Bridgeport or make sure to get there very very early to avoid the worst of the traffic
