Do yourself a favor and listen to any GD from 76-89 in split channels. You may find out why so many people think Bob is an awesome guitarist. He is not your typical rhythm player and you really have to understand the guitar to really appreciate what he brings to the instrument. He has not been covered in guitar mags for nothing.
Also you have to realize how the GD played music to understand the way Bob developed as a guitar player. It has alot, I mean alot to do with the way he interacted musically with Jerry.
And yeah when he does decide to belt out a song his voice has gotten better w/ age.
he added a great sound to a great band. and he\'s still at it whether its to everyones liking or not, so cheers Bobby!

Yeah and I was merely letting you know that your opinion may be based on not having really heard Bob play as he is widely considered one of the best rhythm guitar players around and not by just Deadheads. For me he is more unique than great but I am and have said many a time on this board a Deadhead so you in fact did imply reference to me and actually used a very unoriginal point.
As for liking Ratdog w/ Kimock better than GD, well to each their own but I think you\'re nuts.
