go listen to a Dick\'s Pick if you want to hear the dead.
yeah, they do a decent job. just think of how good and potent they could be doing their own thing!! although, since they don\'t, one has to assume that as creative musicians they suck ass, but as replicative musicians they are pretty decent.
its just a personal thing, but if you\'re gonna put that much time and effort into something i can get better with an ipod mix of the real thing, i have to laugh at you. i\'d rather go to dead night at the local hippie club - same killer sound system, someone doing lights, same nice mix of music and people, but twenty five bucks cheaper! to me, its like being an amazing paint-by-numbers painter....
See this is a perfect example of why one should not assume. John K. and Dino have a group w/ Melvin Seals on keys and they tear
**** up original stylee. They put out an album called The Mix and it\'s pretty freakin\' good!
Some of the other members have also put out original material but they make the most bank doing DSO and there
is a market so why not ?
My friend Dan who was filling in for Rob has his own band Smokelahoma and he is awesome at the keys and his original material is great.
I saw/heard DSO at GOTV last summer, and really enjoyed them. Whether they\'re a cheesy cover band or talented musicians, I don\'t know. I just know that I\'m going tonight (on a school night) because I like the music they played live. That is all.
i stand by my position, though. if they had put as much time and effort into doing something original and creative, i bet they\'d be good as hell. but since they don\'t, why waste the over-priced ticket money on them? the fact that the market sustains a cover band that charges more than the original band is what gets me...
sure, the market sustains them, but the market also sustains velvet elvis and dog\'s playing poker paintings.... doesn\'t mean those are worth paying more for than for an actual artist\'s work.

Yeah I get what you\'re saying.

I\'ll give a short review, \'cause I\'m supposed to be "working", and they\'re not "paying me" to sit on my ass all day surfing the web.
The place was mobbed, they played a
