I was born in Colorado, and have always dreamed of returning. Actually the band that I was playing that started this thread is/was from there. Hot Rise, from Boulder, in the early 80s.
But I wish I could find some live shows by Furnace Mountain - that vid is FUN!
i have spoken to fiddly dave about the serious lack of live shows and they\'re on the fence about it. they like the idea, but they\'d rather get paid. can\'t blame \'em considering they still teach lessons to help augment their rent checks. but i\'d still love to get some of their stuff on disc!
forge mountain diggers are great! they played at watermelon park (with furnace mountain) this year. also see if you can find the carolina chocolate drops\' album. they are youngish players who studied from a true old timer. however they also take some modern tunes and old timey them up! some really great stuff from them!
also check out Tim OBrien and Darrell Scott. they play together a lot and really comlpiment each other well. personally, scott is one of my all time favorite players. his style is exactly what i\'d like to be able to play acoustic like, but alas... his shows are around, but tough to find. obrien\'s shows are somewhat easier. but one of the darrell scott shows i\'ve seen (at ashland coffee & tea co in 05 or 06) ranks among the best shows i\'ve ever seen. great pacing, phenomenal playing, intimate setting... too bad there were no tapers there that day!
talk about the universe coming together!!

Yonder Mountain String Band... Go see \'em you won\'t be disappointed. The only problem is they live in Colorado (can\'t blame \'em) and don\'t come around near as much as i\'d like! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf_xO3wtpfw&feature=related
Ever notice how the guitar player for Yonder looks like a really skinny version of me

SallyAlli, I\'ll remind you when that punch brothers show gets closer to see if you\'re still interested.
one of the saddest and most cathartic shows i\'ve ever witnessed was the first official LoS show after mark\'s passing. they did a couple late night jam sessions the friday of and saturday just after, the next sunday they played at jp\'s in valdosta, ga with rev mosier sitting in on the banjo. there was a lot of energy being screamed during river\'s rising but by zombie jamboree vince was finally smiling again.
old school freight train is great bluegrass.
joe- do you have aereo plain? Its really an amazing album but there is no way i can spend $60 on it.
I love bluegrass. We have been listening to band called cornmeal as of late. And they are awesome.
its a shame how some people call it country...well old country is a very different thing than new country.
I guess.
went and saw them again last night. cornmeal in the kitchen. kick ass bluegrass, w/ drums....almost a psychedelic style of bluegrass. great energy, always a fun time. wish you and lexi coulda been there!
They are showing Summer Camp live all weekend. Cornmeal is on right now! Check em out!
http://www.iclips.net/summercamp_stream.php Lots of good bands this weekend if you have nothing else to do!!
Not trying to get off of the bluegrass subject, but I\'m anxious to hear what Blind Melon is sounding like these days.
bluegrass is awesome. Got a hot butter rum show a few weeks ago off archive and love it.
