Definitely my favorite live act next to the breakfast now that Rezi is Dunzo.
The band is really tight to begin with. The music is not amazingly technical like the breakfast but its incredibly soulful and tasteful.
Franti himself is a genius prophet and all around amazing preformer. Through is lyrics and singing and total self delivers what I see as the clearest, most pure, best intentioned and most uplifting message of any musical artist. He uses music as vehicle to connect with his audiences on a soul level and take the whole place to the next level. Crowd interaction at some franti shows is much higher than breakfast shows which is astoundingly high to begin with.
The shows are mostly straight up foot stomping ,fist pumping, people jumping DANCE PARTIES. People just throwing down like the world was about to end. He does take the tempo way down though. Usually several times per show. But the slow moments often get so intensely emotional that you don?t get bored or even notice that the tempo has slowed down dramatically. Then before you know it your dancing hard than you ever have in your life.....AGAIN!
Anyway if you have by chance never heard him here are some good shows to stream or download.

never seen him live... been wanting to for a long time... I only have one of his cd\'s, but I really dig it.... it\'s sort of like intelligent, non-thugified rap.
yea its a pretty big mix of styles....hip hop, different kinds of reggae, a little funk here and there, touches of rock and roll, world music etc
The current edition of Umphrey\'s fan newsletter, Dump City Gutter, refers to Franti as "Michael (\'How You Feelin?\') Franti."
I admit the how you feelin does get a bit redundent. its funy at this point tho.
I don\'t think I\'ve ever heard him, though I missed the chance to see him perform for free in Golden Gate Park last weekend.
hey are from san fran so they play a lota shows in cali obviously. you should hit em up next time.
I think i am gonna go to veegoose mainly just to see them. And a ser gangster party of course

Come on now. Going to Vegoose mainly to see Franti? Wow Mind blown all over the wall. Well if I do not put my fest and plane ticket and hotel room up for bid and send the proceeds to The Breakfast we should try and meet up in Vegas. It is going to be crazy. Do you have any latenite tix yet? I have a few but not Franti.
well my crew has two adjoining SICK, and i mean SICK rooms and everyones going. Musically tho Franti would be my main motivation ...I\'ll enjoy the meters! atmosphere n,trey, talib kweli too. i\'m curious about arcade fire, beck phil...its a kool lineup all in all. and i like latenight club show set up, even tho its more $$$. Hopefully i will crush it in the poker room
Niiice! Yeah I\'m interested in Arcade Fire too. If we are meant to chill in Vegas it will happen. Good to know it can.
I saw Franti at Big Summer Classic. He was a lot of fun, definitely easy to groove to, but the "how you feelin\'?"s and "all the freaky people"s got annoying. I think if sometimes he would stop freestyling or yammering on, I could enjoy it more because it leaves more room to listen to the instrumentals.
saw Franti at high sierra, had a blast. its always great to feel like youre actually part of the show. although i liked him alot, i have a feeling his shows would get old if you saw him 3 or 4 times a year. ive heard his shows are identical, actually. either way, its great for the first time and ill definitely see him next summer again if i get the chance.
as for sick reggae, has anyone out in Cali seen Groundation live? just started listening to them (found them through John Brown\'s Body) and they are unreal. Hebron Gate is no doubt an epic reggae album. shocked when i got it and gave it a listen. they actually bring a good dose of jazz into their music too. just great, great stuff. i gurantee anyone here would really like these guys, reggae or non-reggae fans alike.
First saw Spearhead at Baja Bash and I went out and bought all the CDs. Great music, Great message.
Liked the cd when I first heard it. Liked them live the first time I heard them. Currently can\'t stand them.
I really think if you have seen one show you have seen them all.
Cannot stand the political ranting... I don\'t care about his (very ignorant sounding) opinions. I pay to hear live music, not be preached to. I can either go to church or listen to Hannity for that. It\'s redundant, insulting, and very irritating!
