Yup, I had Stanford winning the championship. For the first time in 7 years, I did not pick Duke (my favorite team) Good luck to everyone else in the pool, nice knowing ya!

WOWZERS! Has anyone checked out Yahoo\'s scenario generator?! This thing is awsome baby! Go to your team and hit the scenario generator link. You can see who will win the pool based on any scenario. I used to provide this information for my contestants once the Final Four was decided, but it took me HOURS to compile, projecting everyone\'s score over the 8 possible scenarios in the last 3 games. This thing instantly generates complete pool standings based on any of the millions of possible bracket scenarios that are left.

As it stands, if I hit EVERY game left, I will win the pool over Pecoraro by just 6 points. Looks like Pec is in the driver\'s seat.

Well depite having only 9 of my Sweet 16 teams alive, I do have 6 of my Elite 8 teams going, plus my entire Final Four. Overall an average weekend for excitement with today being the best.

And Seth, I appreciate your concern for my statisical obsessive-compulsiveness, but I have one question for you: when you\'re watching NCAA Tournament games, do you count the amount of words and/or syllables spoken by the commentators?

No, I prefer not to listen to the commentators, but I do count the number of steps taken by all players on the floor (while the clock is running.) Funny you should ask too, because today\'s UAB/Kentucky game featured the most steps of any game I have ever counted. UAB, with their full-court press and tenacious double-defense, took an astronomical 21,147 steps! Kentucky took a still way-above-average 18,818 for a grand total of 39,965. Bear in mind tht the general ballpark numbers for an average team is 16,000 SPG and average game is 32,000 total SPG.

Dribbles are a useless stat. I gave up counting dribbles for steps when I was about 12. Teams with fewer dribbles often win because they are better at passing. Teams that stand around in set offenses generate lots of dribbles, but this does not necessarily indicate scoring. In fact, in blowouts, the losing team almost always has more dribbles because the other team is scoring fast easy buckets on them, often created by strong passing. I find that dribbles are a very weak and inconsistent indicator of success.

Steps, on the other hand, indicate how hard a team is playing. A losing team is always either losing because they are flat-footed, or become flat-footed because they are losing. Teams with more steps win over 92% of the time!
