Turning down an opening spot for a band that most likely has an audience The Bfast would like a piece of due to Side Projects does not seem like good Bfast business sense to me.
Side Projects are officially running the show for the next month, Leith.

OK but it still does not make sense to me.
according to the people at side street, it was the breakfast that played last night, not the new boomers, so I don\'t know what your talking about. Adrian had a good talk with them about that one.
wow
I mean this can\'t be serious.
wow
nobodys ever happy.
give the guys a break.there doin what they gotta do.
if the band isnt playin,go see someone else.
good?good..

The Bfast getting exposure to a good 100+ people opening for Derek Trucks vs a solo project or 2 that draw 25-40 people tops combined.
You tell me, which makes more business sense ?
You think I am making these treks because I got $$ to throw around ? NO I am doing it because from what I have seen over the past yr. I am now of the mind that it is the ONLY way I am ever going to see them the number of times I NEED to.

Breakfast business sense and good business sense sometimes seem to have little to do with each other unless you are "in the know" in which case everything is great and the boys are riding high. Thankfully, Steffmo occasionally clues us into the ups and downs and rhymes and reasons that occur behind the scenes.
I can\'t speak for all of the people who have posted but I think that any criticism or comments in this thread are intended to be constructive. They should not be seen as attacks or bitching and whining. Ultimately, I think that we all want what is best for the band and its members but we also really want to see them play as The Breakfast. It is a shame that these two desires sometimes conflict.

At the show I went to last night, people were asking me when The Breakfast was finally going to make it out to CA. I said that rumors were pointing to Feb./March, though that estimation can (and probably will) easily be pushed back further into the future.
Which show did you go to? Whenever I am asked abt The Bfast (which is rare these days) coming out, I just chuckle and shrug.

Went to see Motherbug, a funk-jazz-jam band from S.F. Their guitar player, Will Bernard, is always dubbed as an S.F. guitar hero. He often plays with members of Greyboy Allstars (among others) in side projects that tour throughout the west. He\'s good, though I think the other driving force is Wil Blades, the keyboard player. Their brand of music has some tinges of surf guitar as well so it\'s a nice mix. I\'m always impressed because their sound is always engineered with exceptional balance.
The weirdest part of last night\'s show was that my group appeared to be the only ones who showed up to specifically see this band. Everyone else was there just to drink beer. Imagine a Breakfast show in New Haven that only draws one small group of five people that seem to recognize the band.
Yeah I\'ve heard of Motherbug. My friend Mo likes \'em and I have had a chance to check them out but never took it. Sounds like a surreal time.

Do they play in SoCal? I\'ve never seen any gigs listed outside of The Bay Area.
It was a few years ago down here and Mo has seen them @ Jazzfest a few times I guess.

this is why they didnt open for maxcreek this week.
what will it really do for them?
Opening for Creek and opening for DTB are 2 entirely different things. Creek fans= lost hippies that cannot handle The Bfast.
DTB fan= ready for scorching guitar and improv genius.
So I understand no Creek opener but why blow off DTB ? Seems weaksauce to me.
