I have no problems. i love the lights, i make them work out. especially from what we all saw no more than a year ago. and loving the lights lower and horizontally. my only request is more Ron light, i think sometimes he purposely finds the darkest part of the stage. how about two lights in front on either side of the stage and two on either side of Animal. i don\'t know........ not my place

Leith i find it interesting that you give me so much
****, when i heard that when you worked with the band out in your neck of the woods you had coffee(par)cans. Oh, and side note, Andi Watson was their ld even back then. And, in 97 he got in trouble by Mtv for not using enough front light for the 10 spot show, but did he or the band care? When the time comes you will understand what it is i am trying to acheive, for now, its hit or miss but i would rather be great sometimes, and shitty other times, than good all the time.
:sigh:
If the band is happy with him, then i don\'t see why he has to deal with **** from the fans. if he had more money, there would be a better lightshow. Give the kid a break
More money does not mean better light show. As for taking
**** from fans well he will have to develop a thicker skin. Chris Kuroda is one of the best lighting designers around and he STILL gets flack from people.
Most of it is from those that do not know lighting.
I figure Greg is lucky to have fans of the band that can offer some informed opinions and push him to explore more of what he has.
The thing is he is learning still and the band is in full flight. He does have a lot of catching up to do and the saving grace is he understands that.
Lieth you can be suck a hard ass sometimes..... it\'s funny because by the end you end up being a diplomat.

You can look @ it as giving you
**** or you can take it for what it is, a more experienced LD trying to offer you advice on how to use what you have now and not to depend on what you may have in the future.
Yeah all I used was club lighting for one gig and BS intellabeams for another.
Point is I was able to give the band a great show and if I remember correctly Dobs said and I quote" You have as good a light show as in any Arena show"
As for hit or miss that is bs. The stage is not a place to practice. You should bring your "A" game each time just like the band. If that means good all the time fine. That will eventually turn into great all the time."Shitty sometimes" just should not be acceptable. If you think so you have no idea what it takes and I was mistaken about your potential.

Yeah I really need to work on that.
Well, not to sound defensive, but if you have never toured with a band before, than you do not know what it is like using different lights, boards, stage arrangements and such each and every night. It is impossible to be consistant when nothing in my department is concsistant, just like you don\'t have consistant sound everynight. There is way too much grey area here and I\'m not sure you understand that.
I\'d sell both my nuts for consistent sound...

Well to clue you in I have toured w/ a band, it was 5 years ago but the road is the same now I am sure. I also run lights in various clubs around town and up and down the coast. Yeah every night is different but that is where you show your stuff. Every Breakfast show I have been to the sound has been excellent and Dobs shows why he is one of the best Sound Engineers around.
No reason you can not do the same.
its funny how people get amnesia when they have to prove a point. Could you remind me how good the sound was at UAC?
P.S. Im not trying to bash dobz on this one, im just saying that its a freaking roller coaster ride with these guys and its not a smooth one to say the least.
I knew this thread was a shitstorm in the making...

Leith doesn\'t remember UACIII he was the eskimo huddled in the corner with pnuemonia (sp?)
I thought he was stuck in a catatonic psychotropic cosmic bliss.....dying to see the light

:that: as we found out in Utica... leith, don\'t u remember Greg\'s lights @ the Electric Co.? I\'m sure they were "psychedelic" enough back then ... I didn\'t hear u complain about them AT ALL from your spot on the couch
