A jammin\' good time at 10,000 Lakes Festival

DETROIT LAKES, MINN. -- From the Big Phish under the stars to the sitar lady in the Saloon, the third annual 10,000 Lakes Festival was filled with thousands of good vibes.
The 3?-day jam-band fest, which ended late Sunday with a performance by Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, drew its biggest crowd ever -- 14,000 -- and enough enthusiasm for its promoters to promise a fourth fest next July.
After more than 40 bands played 50 hours of music on four stages at Soo Pass Ranch (no, I didn\'t experience it all), here are some impressions:
No matter what kind of music you play, you know you\'re a jam band if ... the audience is bouncing to the music but not all bouncing as one.
Most surprising performance: The reunited Black Crowes have reemerged as Southern-fried soulmen, with a touch of the Allman Brothers (dig the dual slide guitars) and with singer Chris Robinson doing some feverish testifying.
Other old favorites who delivered once again: the Jazz Mandolin Project, Widespread Panic, G. Love & Special Sauce, to name a few.
New discoveries I want to see again: the Breakfast (aggressive, intense rockers) and Grace Potter (a young, gospelly, piano-playing Bonnie Raitt).
Figure this will be a good place to post reviews and mentions if anyone comes across anything else....
10K Lakes might have been a new beginning for this band. The Breakfast need a national tour soon.
especially after August, this month is going to be insane.
The Breakfast need a national tour soon.

 for ser, this band is killing some people, taking them outta the real world
they slowly suck you in and then when they have you under their spell, they do with you what the please, at least the scenery is nice.
The Breakfast need a national tour soon.

Would save my life in the sense that I am dying here in the Midwest without them.

spacey = showing off his 21+ side.............. god damn you !!!!!
it really irks you that 21+ is basically a Breakfast standard.
I am all about all ages shows, or 18 and up, but until then, you will suffer with the inconvience of watching your favorite band play from a patio, cheers.
correction spacey........ i\'ve been into more 21+ shows than you think, guy
it\'s tough, but it gets done with a little help from my friends........
