If they play in a hole in the ground, I\'ll be there!
It was my first time at a freakout, my first time at the webster, and yeah, some aspects of the experience did suck. But the guys kicked ass. If they play there, I will def. be there.
^^what, somehthing about a stolen image?
Do you any of you who were complaining about the sound wear earplugs? I spent first set in back by the bar. I thought it sounded a little distant with ear plugs, but not that bad. so much better than last time when dobz was away on vacation. I spent second set on the floor and i thought it sounded great up front on "save side" with ear plugs in. you cant expect a venue like the webster to sound like porter\'s or toad\'s because of its size and design.
I love seeing the band play the webster because its so much different than seeing them in a small venue because they sound so big. its never going to sound like toad\'s place, but dobz has it sounding better every time they play there and now with ellis on lights i dont see why anyone would want to miss a show there.
security sucks, but its not like we have to deal with them at every breakfast show. i dont mind dealing with it once in a while because its better than not getting to see the band at all. its too bad some people got kicked out. i was lucky and i didnt, but i will know to be more careful and not to do anything stupid next time. hopefully security wont be as bad on nye.
I am not a sound expert, but it seems to me the sound could be greatly improved in there with a few alterations - maybe lower the ceiling, acoustic tiles, something. I never wear earplugs. I am sorry, but to me the sound is muddy
**** in there.

sound tiles would be a nice improvement, but im sure they dont want to pay for it. maybe we should start a discussion about it on the the webster\'s forums.
if you never wear ear plugs you must be killing your ears and i dont blame you for thinking it sounds bad. it sounded a little muddy with lots of reverb, but the mix was even and i could hear everything just fine. except for adrians vocals at the beginning of lapti nek. dobz had them sounding better after a little while, but there isnt much you can do because the drum vocal mic will introduce more noise into the mix.
after saturday i really despise this venue-not as much as harper\'s ferry though..i managed to make friends with the security people at the front door early on and learned that the owner is a crazy nazi
****, so i guess that\'s why they are so extreme there. i was able to talk the people at the door into letting me go outside and have cigarettes without having to deal with paying again/being kicked out because of the no re-entry policy that they enforce there. the whole thing about not being able to smoke cigarettes even if you are over 18 but under 21 is bullshit. i also thought it was ridiculous to see how many people got kicked out/threatened by some of the security there. as incredible as the show was and how much i love the band, i really don\'t think i want to go back to the webster anytime soon.
^^what about 12/31 Holly?
So let me get this straight.
If you are between 18-21 and you smoke cigarettes you are unable to leave the venue to smoke but if you are older than 21 you can go out for a smoke ?
.
:tool:
No offense YoMa, but you\'re lucky that you were just forced out the door & not locked up... it\'s kids like u who give this band a bad rep.
I\'ve never seen security hassle anybody for no reason. Maybe they hassle people for stuff that you can get away with elsewhere, but not for no reason at all. I\'ve actually never witnessed security being jerks anywhere (though I\'m sure it happens). They\'re just doing their jobs. If you want to do something illegal, you\'re taking a risk.
first of all...what REP do you speak of?? in comparison to such fanbases as say, the biscuits, the breakfast fans are complete angles..last time i checked, i didn\'t see any pharmie slinging wookies running around grabbing girls titties at breakfast shows(i\'ve seen in happen dozens of times elsewhere).
secondly, if you had fuckin read my post and used just one 1 millionth of your brain, you could have come to the assumption that i had no intentions of even smoking! (which was the case believe it or not)..you call ME a tool? you automatically label me as some degenerate who was only at the show to get high and cause trouble. next time you decide to call someone a tool because they were unfortunately thrown out of a show that they were throroughly enjoying (for the music), you can eat a bag of dicks.
you say no offense and then call me a tool?? you sir, are the tool.
Please tell me why my post was quoted... if it was a mistake, I will save the harsh rebuttal I have written. I don\'t even see my post being referenced except for the quote. My post was a general response that did not quote yours at all.

So Chris are you telling me it sounds better with earplugs? Or are they filters? I am confused. If you have somethig that makes it sound better, I want\'em!
^^what about 12/31 Holly?
i\'m not sure yet. i spend NYE w/ two of my best friends (pubertymonster10 and the girl in the short softcore
****) every year and will have to figure out how to persuade them into going to the show. none of us are 21 so we will be treated like scum at the webster..anyway, it\'s early, i\'ll have to wait and see what happens.

i always use earplugs. either the yellow foam kind or the ones they sell in the drug store to wear while you are sleeping. sometimes its painful to my ears not to wear them. if you only put them in deep enough so that they wont fall out of your ears it brings down the high end helps you hear more detail in the mix. but if you have never worn them before you might have done damage to your ears and the earplugs may not help at all or make it sound worse.
The Breakfast Rules!
The Webster Drools!
Sorry to say but after Sat night\'s experience, we will not be checking in for voluntary incarceration for NYE. Just not the atmosphere we are looking for. For us and many others to be treated the way we were is inexcusable. This makes me very sad, because there is nothing I would rather be doing than hanging with the band and you all.
And the sound of the place makes it an easy decision, hell, it\'s not like you are really experiencing a concert anyways. Oh well.
Kudos to the boys for kicking major ass Saturday, despite all the bullshit.
wow, i said the *same* thing after leaving the webster on saturday night.... i\'ve given them too much money for too much hassle.
its not just the security even. last september, i went to see the disco biscuits, and missed 3/4 of the first set waiting in line at willcall (i got there 1.5 hours *BEFORE* showtime, waited almost 3 hours in line) because they only had 1 ticket window open for a sold out show. but they still took my $9 "convience" fee.
i\'m sick of giving them my business and having a horrible time.
as far as venues go, (get ready to flame me), i think its sort of a cop-out on behalf on the breakfast. they can find places to play that make their fans happy.... they just need to look harder i think. i know absolutely nothing about booking, venues, blahhhhh but they *dont* need a venue that can hold thousands of people... sorry guys....
i really just feel atmosphere is TREMENDOUSLY important when you\'re at a show, especially this band that can thrive off of such energy. look at the puppethouse -- the fans were relaxed and having fun, the band was relaxed and having fun, and it was one of the most incredible weekends of music i\'ve ever experienced. for the sake of the MUSIC i\'m saying, find a new spot....
