I\'m just curious, and I\'m new to the forum so maybe this has been discussed already, but I have read that the Breakfast are "self-taught" musicians. Is it true that none of them have taken any formal music lessons in school or from music instructors or anything? If so, that just blows my mind even more... I want to be like them.

you\'d probably have to go back in time a bit..

self-taught? yep. i believe tim started playing guitar at the age of 3 (yes, 3); adrian either 5 or 8 (can\'t remember which atm), and ronnie his freshman year of high school..

oh, and not only that, but tim and adrian both can pretty much pick up ANY instrument you hand to them and play it better than most people you\'ve ever heard play said instrument. seriously, if you gave adrian an acordian, he\'d probably have it mastered in a week.

Reminds me of in March @ the Tempe Guitar Center I just stuck next to Adrian as we wandered about. He would just pick up something and just wail on it like he had played it everyday! From keyboards, guitars, drums(all sorts) Even one kit that was electronic and had all sorts of settings. Adrian clicked on the big band one and within seconds a full fledged band was playing! Adrian impresses me more and more each time I encounter the man.
Really he has an ear for music in EVERYTHING!

I remember being at someone\'s house after a UVM show and the guy handed Tim a banjo. From what I gathered, and maybe I\'m wrong, all the strings are opposite that of a regular guitar. Plus there is the separate "twangy string". Within 4-5 minutes Tim was playing it like he was born with it. Needless to say, the guy who handed it to him, had been practicing and taking lessons for a very long time was totally floored. As well as the rest of us. But yes, Adrian is the real flux of gold. He could pick up a dead fish, play it, and it will sound incredible!!!!
Light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright...until you hear them speak.

Hearing Animal playing the keg @ the last Hotel TKA was insane!!!  I also remember him banging on cookie sheets and baking pans @ a Big Bang show.  Wow. :D
