southbridge is in the middle of nowhere, so if you want a nice quiet place to yourself, go there.  If you want a bar scene or anything like that, go somewhere else.  If your not very fond of your job, ou could look into finding a new job and going to NoHo, very cool city.

Move to downtown Northampton.  I lived there & it is the best place to be in terms of having a social life.  It\'s the easiest place to meet great people.  I met the best friends of my life there.   There are lots of lezzies there as it is supposedly the lezzie capital, but most of them are really fun & throw some great parties.  If you don\'t know anyone there, you should find a house with a bunch of people & you will meet their friends & friends of friends.  It\'s fun walking to the downtown.  Lived in Hadley & Amherst as well.  Amherst would be a second choice.  Some friends of mine just moved out of Easthampton back to downtown Northampton cuz they missed it so much.  Easthampton\'s all right, but you don\'t have the luxury of walking downtown & meeting up with people you know.  Easthampton had the Flywheel, a great place to see bands, but I think it is closed now or in the process of relocating.  Noho definitely has some great spots for checking out bands.  The food can\'t be beat as well.  There\'s an awesome store called Deals n Steals where organic foods are deeply discounted.  You\'re at a great age to be living there as most of the people that live there are in their early 20\'s.  I live in San Diego now, but sure do miss Noho.  There\'s nothing like it.  The only thing it\'s lacking is the ocean, but the pond\'s nearby are fun to swim in during the summer.  I met Wolfman as a result of living in that area.
As for the Sturbridge area, don\'t know much about it, but would imagine Sturbridge Village, as seen in the picture above, is about the only thing that town is good for.  Have heard some pretty bad stories about how ghetto Wilimantic is.  Good luck getting out of there without getting shot.  :bounce4::bounce6:

is it ghetto? lame? things to do? bar scene? other good surrounding towns to live in? any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thanx

Though I\'m not sure what ghetto means in this regard, I do read three consecutive concerns about boredom right after that.  ("lame? things to do? bar scene? ")  I gather boredom is a concern because you\'ve been dwindling in Willimantic after spinning your wheels in New Hampshire.  Well, you\'re about to move to a place that is not sigificantly different than Willimantic.  You\'re going to be just as bored.  Perhaps you should consider city life?  It doesn\'t have to be a major city like Boston, but if you\'re gonna move to central Mass just go the extra 25 miles to Worcester.  Maybe it\'s not the best town of all time or anything but it doesn\'t suck either and I know a lot of people who have enjoyed living there for a few years in their 20s.  There\'s no reason you should get bored.  Or as the other guys said, if you\'re open to western mass try out Northampton/Hadley/Amherst, very cool towns.  Sturbridge is just gonna be the same town, different state for you.

Calling all Zurfluehs.

Massholes are tha best fuckin\' eva, guy!

Team Dunkin Donuts!

From what I remember hearing about those towns they suck and come with a side of Puerto Rico.

I\'d take the BDFree advice and go with the Pioneer Valley.  Lots of music, food, alcohol, college girls etc.  No where else in central/western Mass can really compare.  The bike trail is a nice bonus, too.  Given their size, you really can\'t find towns like Northampton/Amherst with that much variety of food.

Sturbridge/Southbridge isn\'t terrible. It\'s pretty safe; wouldn\'t call it ghetto. But there is nothing to **** do down there. It\'s terribly boring. And it\'s not like you can overlook the boring because the scenery is really beautiful... it\'s pretty dull.

Bar scene? Riiiight...

Move back to NH.

That area pretty much sucks bro I used to live out there.

The place to be in Mass is the valley. Northampton and the towns right around there. Amherst maybe, but you might be better off west of the river.

If you don\'t know why, all you gotta do is take a drive through these towns, walk along main st. in northampton, grab a slice of pizza, step into one of the local bars, take a drive through the surrounding area.. you\'ll see.

there\'s always Allston Rock City, y0!
