I figured out what took me so long- I\'m calling it Stevie Wonder Syndrome.
As anyone around my age (29) can atest, some of the greatest artists of the 70\'s put out some insufferable crap in the 80\'s. I\'m old enough to remember nonsense like I Just Called To Say I Love You, but Superstition was before my time.
As a result when others would speak of these artists, I\'d think \'like yeah I\'m familiar with that ****\', when I really had nothing but the poorest of subject samples.
I think I can thank Wonderful Tonight for my initial resistance to Clapton.
Bruce Hornsby also fits in this category.

Joe, I was listening to a whole bunch of your old stuff last weekend: Amon Duul, Duke/Cobham in Europe, Old Grey Whistle Test on Youtube etc.
The Wall St. Journal had a 25-yr. anniversary of Donald Fagen\'s "The Nightfly" the other day. Nice article and recognition.

Because I forgot how good this album was. I hope it will forgive me.

flame on, the lyrics to that that first song "round here" still give me chills.
"we talk like lions, but we sacrifice like lambs. \'Round here she\'s slipping through my hands"

i have been frequenting this website- pandora.com. it is so awesome, you type in an artist that you like or a song you like and it will create a radio station of other artists/songs similar to the first artist you put in. you all must check it out, its great!

Spoken like a true P-funk afficianado. George, do you want more obscure, hard to find p-funk sideprojects?

its good cause of the B side which is one song entitled Jack Orion. about halfway through the song the fretless bass player has a solo and then lays down a tight bass line for the rest of the band to do some noodling and solos over. very cool stuff that i just happened to come across in the record store. not sure if it has been remastered to cd

Guinea Goblins... Meatballs for hands. Garlic cloves for noses. Ya know, Guinea Goblins.
Italian progressive rock/soundtrack (which means repetitive themes, short variations of said themes). Heavy synth, percussion, guitar and weird guttural sounds. Almost every soundtrack they recorded were for horror movies, including Dawm of the Dead.
Sounds good Treychica. I\'ll have to Oink an album after work.

I don\'t think I need to explain why this record is good. I think you all know damn well.
I actually never listened to Mahavishnu Orchestra. I assume that you recommend it. Visions of the Emerald Beyond is a good place to start?

The new Sea and Cake album resembles Steely Dan more than their past electro, indie pop efforts. Each track seems rounded, refined, yet effortless in execution. Definetly their jazziest release to date.
