just wanted to let you all know that tonight (5/11) at 9pm Mos Opus is combining efforts with Cosmic Dust Bunnies at CJ Sparrows in Cheshire! you should go and have fun and have some brewskies. :)
you see, the bassist from Mos Opus (Shaun) was recently in a motorcycle accident...thank god he\'s ok...minor injuries, however, he is now laid up in bed for a while. Originally this show was supposed to just be CDB, but the drummer bailed (or so i\'ve been told), and so now the current line-up is "Cosmic Opus". I hope to see people there! It\'s gonna be a blast! :)

Dispatch and O.A.R. IMHO= :poop: :thumbsdow
and if you don\'t want people to call you Oar then don\'t name your band an acronym. Stupid.
-
I heard of but never actually heard Dispatch. I worked with one kid who was really in to them. I was shocked to learn about the actual size of there fanbase.
-
state radio is the new band of one of the members from the now disbanded "dispatch". dispatch was an independent boston area band with an OARish sound and a surprisingly large following, i heard about them when i was like 16 and they were the first show i ever went to
-
It will be contemplated. I think I have something happening that weekend but for the life of me can\'t remember what the hell it is.
-
that\'s fantastic spaceman :)
you should go to cheshire next weekend...i\'ll be there
-
I seen the Cosmic Dust Bunnies one crazy night at the Corner Pocket. I believe Walsh and Company where there, Gencs even Slimpickens.
-
wow...ok, so i found a band i\'ll def be hittin up next weekend: Cosmic Dust Bunnies.
yes, i\'m friends with most these guys (as i am with mos opus) but i just listened to them the first time today...i kept forgetting what they\'re name was...anywho, you guys have to check them out, they\'re pretty f\'n tight!
you can listen to them at their myspace page and they also have video clip up.
sooo, if you like they will be playing Spinstock this weekend(wolcott), next friday (5/11) at cj sparrows, next sat. (5/12) at puppet house...refer to their myspace for other dates/times...they\'re very good, and you all should go :D

Had a great March - Fairport Convention, k-dub and David Nelson & Banana, but nothing now for a while. Next up will be Breed 77 ina week or so.
-
and i saw a bunch of kids get dropped hard when trying to crowd surf hahaha
Someone dove off the bar at a punk dive bar I was at in Anaheim a few weeks ago, landing on my shoulder.
Actually, there was a death at a local punk show I was at in high school. A dude jumped off a balcony, landing onto the head of someone 20 feet below.
Who the heck is State Radio?
-
i saw schleigho about 3 weeks ago. prob the only non-breakfast show since sts9 last fall.
-
i was at state radio this past saturday at the avalon in boston
packed house. avg age = 17
band was pretty tight, but without improvisation
and i saw a bunch of kids get dropped hard when trying to crowd surf hahaha

I think the last non-breakfast show I saw was Tenacious D @ MSG back in December.
:that: unless you count Jordan\'s sit-ins as a "non-breakfast" show? Then it was last Friday @ Daniel St.

TreyChica,
I decided to check out the tickets for Porcupine Tree\'s upcoming SF show, assuming prices would be in the $20-30 range. Cheapest ticket starts at $80.
Dear Porcupine Tree: Get outta town!
I\'m paying 32 for NYC.... Don\'t blame the band, blame the venue.
Believe me, it\'s definitely the venue. Most shows are in that price range. Somehow Jamiroquai was only $30 when they played SF 2 years ago.

Igz, never did get a ticket, but it was for my daughter, who ended up at a going away party for a friend anyway. You missed a monster show. Sorry the Biscuits show wasn\'t a Top 10.
-
Umphrey\'s McGee, 4/21 at the Vic Theatre in Chicago. One of the Top 10 shows I\'ve seen in 35 years of concertgoing.
did you get your ticket situation dealt w/? your friend told me saturday that you were in need of the extra i had. I sold my ticket to that show and went to Brothers Past instead.
one of the better shows i saw that weekend.
but yeah, to \'celyn question: I saw the Disco Biscuits on 4/22 at the Vic Theater in Chicago. prob wouldn\'t even list it in my top 10 shows of that band alone. but getting to hear 7-11 made me a happy camper.

last: Otherwise about 2 weeks ago at sully\'s.
next: hopefully db (?) 3 weeks from now
definitely more bfast than non-bfast, esp if you count anything timmy :)
-
saw my friends (Mos Opus) play at Side Street (i believe it was 4/07/2007)
before that...hmmm...i think it was tom petty/allman bros. in hartford sometime during the summer of 2006.
wow, i think i need to get out more often! haha!
on a side note...everyone should check out mos opus. they\'re an awesome band that incorporates many genres of music to their sound. they went underground for a while..couple guys (Early & Fox) went to CA to improve themselves, drummer (Justin) went to a school in NY, and bassist (Shaun) goes to central (i think he\'s majoring in something to do with music). but now they\'re back together and are setting up gigs, so i think that all the CT locals should go and groove to them :) you can listen to sample songs at their myspace page:

ok..sorry, had to do a little plug for them...they\'re my boys and all :)
-
we saw the bridge on saturday night 4/28/07. left, bored, at setbreak. they weren\'t awful or anything, just not nearly as good as their fans seem to believe. maybe if we\'d\'ve had some of whatever most of the folks were on too much of... got home and had some really good nookie, though...
before that was last weekend 4/21/07, panic in raleigh. *great* show. was supposed to have caught ancient harmony in winston-salem on 4/20, but the gig got cancelled about halfway through my drive down there (2+ hours from home). luckily i have friends who called me and told me not to bother going all the way to w-s, as it was about an hour and a half furthur down the road than where i stayed for the panic show, so i just went there and waited for everyone else to get back from teh panic instead. the good thing is that there was a doug oade-built listening room (built the speakers and modified everything else!!), so i got to hear the 4/19 ancient harmony show sounding better than it did in the bar while waiting!
-
me Nik and Joanna went into Toads 2 weeks ago for a few beverages.
This 3 piece band called State Radio was playing.
We thought they were pretty tight.
kinda reminded of Sublime with more of a reggaeish sound than ska.:stoned:

Assembly of Dust 04/21/2007 Green Apple Music Festival -outside @ Grand Central Terminal
Before that was Panic in Albany I think. I haven\'t been getting out much with the NHL playoffs on everynight and being the lazy guy I am
-
ohh now i remember the last non bfast show i saw. Umphreys at toads last sept. my first time seeing UM. i had a good time.
-
I have a few shows on my wishlist that are non bfast though. Zappa Plays Zappa in Hampton Beach, & Ween at the Webster most notably.
my last show was this past Thursday, April 26, and it was WEEN at the sterling hotel in allentown, pa. real chill venue, *AMAZING* crowd, and a performace worthy of my top 10 all time. i\'ve just downloaded the .flac if anyone\'s interested ;) webster should be hottttness! get those tickets cuz they will sell out!
-
Citizen Cope

-
A+ for postom!
-
fine
moe. 4.25
club quattro, osaka, japan
-
ok. You people are terrible at following directions.
1) Last non-Breakfast show you ATTENDED. That is in the past tense.
2) When was it.
3) Ok, fine. Then do non-Breakfast show you PLAN to attend. I think for me that may not be until Bill Frissell at the Regatta Bar in June. Though I may go to see Naftule\'s Dream (a Klezmer band) in Boston in the near future...
Thanks in advance,
Mlle. Reiterate

I havn\'t caught a non breakfast/side project show in A LONG TIME. it\'s sad really. I\'m not even sure what the last one was. I have a few shows on my wishlist that are non bfast though. Zappa Plays Zappa in Hampton Beach, & Ween at the Webster most notably. Oh yeah and fitzy\'s gonna get me into the Oakdale for Steely Dan too;).

So I wonder from time to time how often some of the die-hards among us go to see shows other than Breakfast or Breakfast-side projects. What was the last non-Breakfasrt show you saw, and when was it?
Mine was Chris Potter and Dave Holland at NEC in Boston on April 9. A free show, believe it or not.
Unofficially, I saw my friends\' jazz/fusion/experimental band at a hippie farm art festival thing last night. Also have seen them play in Nashua last week. Not sure that counts.
