Europe Tour \'08

Any words on the next tour?
I\'ve got plenty of vacation days to use up.
:that: 4 weeks, 4 days a year and nowhere to go.

Due to their highly progressive style, still think it will take sometime to fine tune a fanbase...and oh what loyal fans we all are, hope it pays off soon or later...

Based upon the smattering of Breakfast dates listed through August, my guess is they aren\'t headed far away from home until at least the fall. Exceptions would be mini tours based around festivals or prime opening spots.
Like that was a hard guess.
I knew the probability was not looking good when I started this thread. It\'s merely an outlet for those desiring more frequent touring (though perhaps a "somewhat ser fan" couldn\'t care less either way).
Just bustin\' your chops. I have had my own pining threads in the past. I understand.
btw I\'m not even a "somewhat ser fan" anymore check it^

Hey Origen...What are you doing on this Friday, 4-20? Come see my band play. I\'ll draw 150+ to Woodstock (40 minutes from downtown Atlanta)
http://www.myspace.com/myfriendiansband
hit me up, kid.
I was just in Athens this past weekend playing @ the Boar\'s Head (a downtown college bar) and a frat party, and I\'m playing a Widespread after party @ The Boar\'s Head downtown on Tuesday. Athens could be a good scene for the boys, but they would need at least a few very popular (around campus) and dedicated fans to really bust their ass and spread the word. There is so much music going on for free / cheap that it is quite tough to convince college kids to come pay $10+ to see a band they have never heard of. Fortunately for me, frats pay out the ass and I play covers so bars will pay me.
Bring the boys to Atlanta and I will make them some new fans. I promise.
BTW...other than Smiths they would kill @ Mike & Angelo\'s. its run by the old manager / booking agent of the Brandy House. Also there is Club 29 (used to be Jake\'s) Cotton Club, Vinyl, Earthlink Live, and especially the 5 Spot in Little 5 Points. There are tons of places to play and tons of people to see them.
I would guess that they had bad experiences in Atlanta not because of the town, but because of bad business, poor dates and shitty promo.

"I hope to hear a lot more festival announcements." +1
Gathering of the Vibes and All Good are my hopes. Moe.down and Camp Bisco wouldn\'t hurt either.
They should hit up ATL, I\'ve met a few heads from down there and have turned them onto the breakfast in the past year or so (don\'t know when the last time the band hit ATL up was). They should also hit up Ashville NC, cause I know there are heads there too.
Didn\'t they just get new management too? Hopefully that\'ll help \'em out with the whole tour announcement thing.
Every ATL show has been poorly attended with the exception of the Brandyhouse show that coincided with Marcial\'s bachlor party. And the Brandyhouse is now closed, which leaves Smith\'s as the best ATL venue for the Breakfast. Asheville is also an excellent scene but the Breakfast have overlooked Asheville. Also Athens GA is a great scene. Both Asheville and Athens are better scenes for a band like the Breakfast than the ATL, which proves that the biggest cities do not have the best scenes. I\'ve been saying forever that they should focus on college towns, which are always better than the bigger cities where you have an all or nothing scene.

Dude, stop harboring all of the eggs.
I want to make a damn omelette.
-
i would love to see them at snoe.down at plake acid one of these years (maybe next year?)
yo fireybill, we doing 5/3 in philly OR WHAT?
-
Igz, great idea. Hell, I would drive to Cleveland for a weekend.
-
they could at least meet me halfway and play in Ohio for a weekend.
-
I would love to see them there again.
It would def. make me go back again! Had a blast last time.
-
no **** about them coming back to moe.down..... at snoe.down I was really hoping Al would mention them as playing when he announced some moe.down bands. I would love to see them there again.
-
does anybody know of a way to get the breakfast on the moe.down lineup again? Do they have anyplace for fans to submit requests for bands? I know they don\'t like to do the same band over and over, but it\'s been a couple years and now it\'s a 3 piece band, so maybe they would give them to sat. night beer tent slot again, which was awesome last time
-
how about Breakfast on the Moon!
Think about it, they could rock the whole planet at once, in zero gravity!
-
How about INTERnational tours??
I second that.
-
has the breakfast ever played on Cape Cod before? Not sure if it could happen or not, but playing tourist places might help them out a bit. There is a bar that is packed every night called "The Beachcomber" in Welfleet. It\'s a awesome bar right on the beach in the middle of nowhere, I used to see Addison Groove play there to a packed house every time. Also highly concentrated tourist places might work
I thought they played a show out on the Cape many years ago, though my search of the setlist archives is turning up zero results.

I see a ton of people every week at my shows, and I typically say hello to most of them when passing out my request lists. On said request list, I write about the show all over it. I go through 120-250 setlists each week. With just a little promo time, I can get a lot of people interested.
:chin: sounds like a good/easy idea for promo :awwyeah:
Yeah Tim should be promoting BFAST shows at TT shows. like really pimpin em.

I like my dream world, thank you.
I never meant to imply that it would not take a ton of work. I meant to communicate that I would be willing to do said work. I play 5-9 acoustic cover gigs a week and I don\'t draw very well at most of them. Some nights I draw less than a handful. Unfortunately, I have to flood the market because I have a family to support by playing cover music. On the occasion that I work to promote an important gig, such as a full band show, I do draw the masses. I see a ton of people every week at my shows, and I typically say hello to most of them when passing out my request lists. On said request list, I write about the show all over it. I go through 120-250 setlists each week. With just a little promo time, I can get a lot of people interested. And yes, we did have 270 paid guests @ $10 on a Thursday.
Origen - come see my band play on Friday, May 11th @ Andrews Upstairs - I\'ll bet you $100 we break 400 people.
Hope you New Englanders are keeping warm up there...You guys should move to Atlanta.
-
Ian lives in a dream world. ;)
-
what\'s with the Atlanta people just now coming out of the woodwork? Last time the Breakfast did ATL there were 5 people there and 4 came with me. Where were you guys for that show? How can you clamor for a GA show when I know as a fact that nobody on this board was at the last ATL show, cause I knew all 5 people there? The Breakfast may never go south of VA again the way things are looking. And who is this guy who claims he can get 270 people to come to any show with the snap of his fingers? I guarantee that guy is bullshitting. Nobody can snap his fingers and get 200+ people to come to any show in any city.
-
Best of all: The Breakfast is still cheaper than a movie on most nights.
-
Dying out here in the Midwest, last Breakfast I had after seeing the Chicago show in September (and needed to see more) was in October, when I was coerced to come to New Haven for the Freakout (thanks to Gencs and Kate). And well worth it, may I add. :awwyeah: Hopefully something is in the works. Block Island, hmmmm......
-
Jeez I\'m feeling depressed.
-
/\\/\\/\\ Festivals and opening slots for legit draws. The level of awareness is still ridiculously low.
-
I hope to hear a lot more festival announcements.
-
^^^^ true but this all just here say anyways because it prolly won\'t happen
i don\'t remember the last time i actually bought a presale ticket......... maybe when the breakfast opened for MOE? other than that...
I don\'t know why you have not as well as others. It really helps the band more than people think.
There is a reason for venue growth w/ bands like UM and TLG.
A portion of their fans(and the group is growing in fears of getting shut out @ shows) buy tix as soon as announced.
This makes the band look good and further lessens the need for opening bands meaning more time for the band you really want to see/hear.
It also helps a band gain a stronger hand in negotiations for the next time they play the venue.
i swear i remember some webster shows 3-5 years ago that drew a good crowd, like 1/2-3/4 of the floor area was elbow to elbow and the bar area was packed.
then again I could have been seeing things, who knows.
Dude you are probably right. Unfortuantely this band seems to be going backwards in fan growth.

hey shut your mouth negative Nancey...... after going on tour and being away for a couple weeks i\'m sure people would be willing to travel and hour or two for a decent home coming show, but in that couple weeks **** NEEDS to happen around here to get people to the show. Everything goes on expecting people to be at the shows..... not gonna happen on it\'s own. but with a good effort to get people out there it could happen. but on the bill NEED to be bands that will draw a crowd not a couple of bands no one has ever heard of no offense to the Moldy Iceberg or whatever there name is........
Hey I\'m just stating fact man. I would love to see them pack it and have tried to get others to put aside their dislike for the place for past shows after hearing it does not sound so bad w/ a full house.
It still just does not happen. As for booking bands that will draw, The Webster has got to think of The Breakfast as one that cannot so if a show there happens it is imperative that any and everyone that thinks they will go buy an advance ticket or 2.
Oh and the opening bands have got to draw crowds that will STAY for The Breakfast\'s set, so there is that to consider.
-
That\'s just the thing the Breakfast can never get a crowd there large enough to create the energy you speak of. It just is not gonna happen anytime soon either.

hey i don\'t mind the Webster. i think it\'s a nice big venue and with enough people it will sound decent, it\'s pretty centrally located as far as between NYC/Boston/and the always heady upstateNY. sure the sound could be better, sure the crew there are bit on the **** side. but for a good part of the people i don\'t think its that big a deal. as long as the energy and crowd size is there i\'m having a good time either way. and as long as you aren\'t blatantly breaking the law it\'s all good. sure you can\'t have your run of the place... it\'s a big venue and not a bar..........................................................................

I was thinking the same thing^

the guys would just have to be happy with a couple opening slots..... and i wouldn\'t see it as THAT big a deal, i mean when was the last time the guys actually got to chill out after there set and get wasted besides the hotel at 3-4 in the morning. Take some time... have a little fun gain some new fans one way or another. come home after a couple weeks on the road and throw a ripper ANYWHERE EXCEPT THE WEBSTER as a coming home........
just a thought, but these are useless ramblings from a fan........
FIXED IT FOR YA ;)
-
hell you get you, tB & ancient harmony at one place at one time, and i\'ll get a shload of folks there! dot confirmed and everything!!

If B\'fast comes to Georgia it\'ll be killing if they co-bill with this guy I know in town. I sold 270 tickets to my CD release party @ $10 a pop...on a Thursday. Atlanta is my hometown. I know quite a few heads. I\'ve mentioned this to the boys, but I\'m still waiting. Patiently. Very Patiently. I could book some big money GTB shows, too. Nobody listens to the Jew. I don\'t get it.
atlanta is a must.....any other decision is just plain **** up!
-
Sounds like Atlanta is a must-do.

How about INTERnational tours??
Steffmo hinted at international touring several times. My guess is that if they can\'t get out of the northeast with much frequency, Europe is nahgonna happen.
-
:awwyeah: haha! now we\'re talkin\' :) I vaguely remember that there was a chance to book some shows in Europe a while back... maybe Amsterjam? That\'d be nice

Yeah OK well have you not figured it out Tours are never announced by The Breakfast they just kinda announce dates and a tour is sometimes recognizable about 3 days before it starts.
Haha, nice leith
-
Until the following is strong at home, there is no sense in travelling to play empty rooms.
Mike Gordon said it best that The Breakfast should not leave the area until they can sell out Daniel St..
Fixed
Hey Dickwad (;)), I didn\'t ask why aren\'t they touring nonstop, I asked if they may be planning something in the near future. We all know they are reluctant to get outta Dodge more than once or twice a year.
Seriously, they should at least do the midwest or the south in the coming months.

they should just tour up and down the East Coast.... hitting up pre festival shows and nice sandy beaches.... Open up for a couple local bands that have a good draw... get there name going down south. how long have these kids in GA and want not been asking for some Breakfast. it takes 24hrs to get from up here to FL..... they\'ll spend half as much money in travel expenses... they\'ll only be a couple hours away or a 50 dollar plane ride.... that sounds alittle more attractive as far as touring with the band. Rent a car for a week or two follow the band drop the car off and fly home. when was the last time they even went down south..... i mean granted it won\'t be packed venues but where all the shows going out west packed......

-I also recall the midwest being a region of interest by the band.
-
:^p
I figured that begging the question, "any upcoming tour plans", would likely result in a "sorry Chip".
They should get back on the road!!
-
Oooooohhhhh.... Sorry Chip!
:^p
-
Any word on upcoming Breakfast tour plans, no matter how preliminary they may be?
-It has been a long time since the last thorough tour of the south.
-I also recall the midwest being a region of interest by the band.
-Tour(s) may be planned around festival slots in other regions??
