Yes well it is there for self-protection. I doubt I will ever need it in Amherst, but I do a lot of traveling, some times to not the nicest places. (*cough*Webster*cough*)

It is there, easily and quickly accessible should I ever need it. I went for boxcutter because: 1) Is is heavy
2) You can pop the blade out as you\'re picking it up with no risk of hurting yourself (seeing as switchblades are illegal.... though EMS does have some nice "spring-assisted" knives- I\'ll probably get one of those in the near future.)
3) It has a lot of practical applications. I use it pretty regularly.
4) If I have to ditch it, no biggie, no big financial loss.
5) You can snap pieces of the blade off so you don\'t have to worry about washing off blood.

I see.

I just don\'t understand.... sure there are dates to "celebrate" but do you think those dates are the exact date..... no they are proposed holidays by some person that everyone now excepts. I celebrate an occurrence, a significant event in the history of man. Maybe Polocks are different, we pre-celebrate it, we celebrate it and we post celebrate it, you can\'t dedicate one day to something significant to your life. it\'s like the alternate theory of Valentines Day..... there shouldn\'t be one day where your obligated to do something nice for your significant other it should be an everyday thing and once in a while you do something special for the hell of it.

those are just my thoughts........

I get what you\'re saying there.

Quote from: Gfunk;138426
I always think it\'s weird when people open christmas presents on christmas eve or whatever. But who am i to tell someone when to celebrate? However, people need to take their decorations down if they are still up after new years. It\'s bad enough that they go up earlier and earlier every year. I saw Christmas **** go up like right after halloween this year.

Arrrgh!!!!!

Quote from: FrankZappa;138434
I don\'t understand how what I said could **** leith off but to each his own, as for nikki, it appears that anyone who disagrees with you is an ass? I\'d hate to be one of your students.

You did not **** me off. Usually a middle finger smilie might irk me but I thought it was funny you felt strong enough to use it.

Quote from: jocelyn;138438
Are people seriously arguing/pissed off over this? It\'s getting hard to tell.

if there is any real irritation here then I would have to say that this is one of the most ridiculous, trivial arguments I have ever seen.

I don\'t know Joc. Hope not.

while I don\'t have any Russian that I know of, I am part Slovak and mostly Irish, and I don\'t drink that much either. Do you have to drink to be Irish? no. Is that even what the celebration is about? no, it\'s about a Christian bishop who drove snakes off an island where they were never thought to exists at all (rumors are that is really means he drove the pagan religions from the island which used snake symbolism) and who also is said to have used the clover to explain the trinity. (Imagine what he would have said if presented with a 4 leaf clover). People just like to use it as an excuse to drink, much the same as when they get smashed every year in may with a complete lack of knowledge towards the battle of puebla .

regardless I\'m more Irish than anything else and I take offense to that, so :finger: you leith!

oooooh soorrrrrrrrry. If you got upset over that I guess your hardy Irish heritage is not that hardy. If you got upset over my comment then I guess you think it\'s logical to celebrate the holiday on a day it is not on. Well I guess the Irish have a logic all their own but I knew that already.

Oh and celebrating Cinco De Mayo is just like St. Paddy\'s Day out here.

Well Leith,
I am glad to make your day.
I will be sending another post out in a few months.
You remind me of the boy that talks a lot of junk on the playground, that one day finds himself with a black eye from a girl.
You seem to dish out alot of controversy everytime I look at .info, your always pissing someone off, to your pleasure.  You prob. do it b/c you are so far away and noone can get you, hence the playground scenario.
I think that everyone should ignore Leith!
Have a great St. Patrick\'s Day Leith, we\'ll always be celebrating it alot earlier than you
Nikki

Yeah and that girl will probably be You!

Hey blame Freddie.
I do.
If he had not taught me so well I would not know how to do what I do so well.

Oh and I have been telling people to put me on their ignore list for what? @ least 2 years.
Post ya later and tell Jordan hey!

Thanks Paul for your comments, but I happen to like Leith and I can kid with him like that, next time, I am going to just send a private message to him to avoid any comments from you

This is the way it is done in new haven, I guess you have to be glad you don\'t live here
b/c then you would be stuck and have to celebrate a St. Patty\'s Day parade on a day it wasn\'t
#2 California is great, california is #1, I wish I lived in california to celebrate holidays on the day they are really on.
#3 you are always fighting up hill, the majority of the folks on .info are from the east coast so in a nice way "shove it up yer ass"
#4 I\'ve seen you before, you are pretty scrawny, if you come to CT. you might get your ass kicked by another scrawny ass Aruny.
#5  Jordan and I went to the St. patty\'s parade, it was filled with a lot of idiotic people, one girl was humping a guy(with clothes on) in the middle of the route before the parade started.  There was almost a huge fight in front of us and then the guys made up.
we had a huge crew of lesbians, next to us I felt like I was in San Francisco leith!  Then I almost got in a fight-surprise!
When the female football team(or whatever it was marched by they all started cheering.
we went to the anchor>sullivans>senor panchos to eat!

LONG LIVE GUINNESS
LONG LIVE PARADES ON THE WRONG DAYS
I LOVE LIVING MY LIFE ASS BACKWARDS!

Ahh such a breath of fresh air. I am so glad you made one of your oh so rare appearances on the board to slam me. I feel special.

It\'s so funny some of you think this really matters enough to jump all over me for it.
Really it is.

If the Irish drunks had a problem with the holiday parade being celebrated on the Sunday before their Holiday, they should speak up and have the date changed. However, they actually have a week to celebrate now that they have the Sunday to Sunday week. We like to keep them drunk and in the bars on the east coast.

No wonder I can\'t stand that side of the coast. Closer to Ireland than we are and still can\'t figure out St. Patrick\'s Day is on the 17th!

The parade is always the Sunday before the 17th.  Doing it on Sunday makes sense for many reasons, so does keeping it the same every year.   How is San Diego\'s parade?

:( Sorry bri - i really wanted to go to this, but after a night @ the Knit it was way too hard to get the crowd interested in going anywhere but home.  I hope you had good times, & we\'ll def be at the party next year!

Bri, came walkin up that way but didnt run into u however i was in zombie mode and seeing Freddie there made me think i was actually dead with him and it was the after life (based on how i and know he felt)

At least you guys didn\'t show up at my house after we left, (unware of daylight savings) like some people.
Jon- I vaguely remeber getting a call from you while at the parade.  I have no recollection of what was said.  In case you couldn\'t tell I was already bombed by that point.
I was also incognito, having received a pair of Randy "Macho Man" Savage type sunglasses.  I spent a good deal of the parade running around yelling about Wrestlemania and Slim Jims.

Failed attempt @ what? I was just saying seems pretty assbackwards which is par for the course on the east coast. Damn Jon get your panties unbunched.

disappear is such a harsh word. some time off doesn\'t really cut it though. i may be up there this weekend, i\'ll give ya a ring. i\'m definitely ready for club tossing season \'07, though I need to get on eBay and restock, my driver is in two pieces (not my fault this time), my PW was left at grassy hill and I forgot to call/retrieve it, and I need to get me one of them medicus trainers to help bring the club tossing ratio down to once a round.

It rained a little last year.  Not to worry.  We\'ve got a dry, protected spot I like to claim.  That\'s why I get there early, and bring enough people to hold it down.

My new plan (full of holes, taboot): drive to greater New Haven area on Saturday, make someone drive me from there into NYC (possibly against their will,) hang around who knows where for a while after the Knit, stay for parade. It\'s just hard to pass up a good excuse to drink in the morning.

This is not a very good plan though, because I still have the whole dog/cat/lizard/snake/hedgehog/fish/horses care thing to deal with, and I don\'t like asking people to help me out two weekends in a row.

I just sent PM\'s with revelant .info.  Give me a shout if I missed you.

A little parade advice-

Dress warm.   Use Layers, gloves, etc.  It is outside for hours at a time.  Nothing ruins the fun like being cold.

BYOB- While I am providing for the pregame, I\'m not sending you out with care packages.  A backpack is recommended for your brews. It\'s usually cold enough that you won\'t need a cooler.

Bring at least $20.  You will have to pay for parking. (at the parade, not at my house).  If you need to use a bathroom at the parade businesses will either make you buy something or flat out charge you.  Also you will probably be out there 3 to 4 hours after leaving my house and you may get hungry again.

New Haven St. Patrick\'s Day Parade
Sunday, March 11, 2007 1:00pm
Pre-Game Party @ my house- 9:00 am

The Parade-It\'s an annual rite of spring (err, late winter).  If you\'ve been, you know.  If you haven\'t, you\'ve been missing out.  Unlike weakass NYC, in New Haven public drinking at the parade is completely legal.  The Yalies are away on spring break, and the local drunkards take over the streets. It is hands down my favorite day of the year to live in New Haven.

The Pre-Game- The wife and I have been doing this for the last 7 years, and for the 1st time we have decided to open this up to the B-Fam. (hey we only got to know a lot of you recently).  It is usually a place to gather for carpool, stuff your face, and get a few beers in.

Post if you\'d like to come.  I\'ll PM directions.  For my liability, 21+ please.
