A friend of mine was playing at the Underground in support of a GWAR show. They personally sold 70 tickets, which is a pretty good showing for a Tuesday at 7:00pm start time. That\'s $700 to the venue, and the band was paid $72 total for their effort. What this says to me is that the Webster is taking serious advantage of bands who can\'t afford (financially or in terms of needing exposure) to turn down a show.
So please support the band you actually going to see by buying tickets from them directly if possible.
And, to keep this thread on target, go see Mike if you don\'t have other plans.
Had they sold more than 100 tix, their % paid would have increased and over 200 tix, they\'d be on the main stage. At least I believe that\'s how it works.
And on a side note...Toad\'s isn\'t that different. If you have a new band opening for a bigger act, they give you the free or reduced admission tix to pass out. You get $1 for every ticket of your color that comes in the door. If you get 20 of your friends to come to the show and use your color ticket...you get a whopping $20.
