Title: Arch Street Epicentre; Greenwich, CT
Post by: Gfunk on April 29, 2007, 01:45:49 pm
That was sweet how the Merrit was completely shut down like as soon as we got on. Missed Great Big, Future Peak and most of WTF  jam>tunage was cool, it should be noted that there was a drum solo in tunage. Fearless was pretty fun, but maybe a too little slow to be played often in non doozie situations. I could have listened to the jam that went into ATSD all night. That  **** was the heat.

Some Good News!!I just got some Great info! The 23 and under thing doesnt matter!!  The Breakfast is playing at 10:30 for a 1 hour and 15 min set! ANYONE could go! YAY

Way to get the word out an hour before the show starts!  I would probably have gone to this show if there was any indication from the band, management, or someone close to the band, that this show was going to be no problem to get into for all ages.   I hope the kiddies loved it.

myspace is a good way of getting the bands name out there. I can run a bot to add 23 and under but it doesn\'t mean they are going to come even if we send out bulletins or event invites.

What all 30 of us? Great energy.

What I meant is that I hope that a younger fanbase can create the energy and buzz that is needed to take the band to the next level. I hope that a younger fanbase would be more energetic to help out with street team work. These are the types of people who have time and basically no responsibility.

Lets face facts, we are no better then last year really at this point. There is water coming into this boat.

I\'m out of my league here.

I imagine we need to take a ride down to that area and see what we can do or get a connect in/from that area that can help out. I imagine that the venue does a lot of its promotion since it seems like a private little place and that it wants to attract the same crowd almost each time.

Perhaps we can take Tim\'s white van down to the school yard and hand out flyers/posters.

The real question here is how are we going to get 23 and under people to this show?

This can be a good opportunity for a younger fanbase to be made. These are also the "types" of kids who tend to have extra money to travel to shows and also tend to be the ones who follow bands because they can **** Mom/Dad money away.

Any ideas?

So how much for the band to do an acoustic show at a venue of my choosing ?

I can dig the money aspect and hopefully it builds a younger fanbase that is willing to contribute to the bands success. There is nothing wrong playing a gig for 23 and under, since most of the time its 21+. Hopefully the band is able to pull in and mantain a younger more energetic fanbase.

Max Creek fans are a lot more hippi-ish than your casual breakfast fan i would like to think.  except for freddie of course.

I would say that creek fans are more Freaks than anything.

Not Freaks in a bad way just, likein wave to Freak Flag High. I like to think of myself as a freak.

being a fan of the Grateful Dead does not make you a hippie.

Did hippies like the band - Yes. But most deadheads are not hippies. Just watch The Grateful Dead Movie. Most of the folks interviewed would not be considered hippies.

Sure many of us deadheads share similar views on things but the opinions and values are as diverse as any group.

The only 1 thing shared is a love for Jerry, Bob, Mickey, Bill, Phil, Donna (maybe), Keith, Brent, Pigpen, Vince, and Bruce among others.

If not for Jer and the music of the Dead, I would still be searching for a lot more. That band has led me to some amazing people and journeys.......Thanks to Tim and Adrian I have been exposed to so much amazing music by Frank Zappa.......I love them both but if I had to pick one, I would undoubtedly choose the music of the Grateful Dead.

I\'m thinking this will be like the first time I saw max creek in high school and kept laughing at the old hippies getting down to the band. Only now we\'re the old hippies.

Arch Street is a drug-free, alcohol-free environment where teens can initiate and organize activities that improve their social and recreational lives and provide leadership and community service experience.

That means you, hippie! :point: :stoned:
