I\'d ask you to impose the audience recording over the video though I\'m pretty sure this was the show that half or more of the audio was lost.

I looked this up on archive and only set 2 is available.  If the complete show is out there, can someone post a link or sendspace it.  Thanks.

I believe Chris or Wayne were unable to capture the whole show.  I suppose we could also check this show\'s Food For Thought or Score threads for details.

Just wanted to share some info in a note from SD State University:

The faculty of the School of Music and Dance unanimously elected Giavanna the 2007 Music Alumna of the Year.  They will be honoring her with song and remembrances on Saturday May 5 at 5:00 PM in Smith Recital Hall on campus, where Giavanna performed many operas and concerts.

They will award a plaque to her family, and hope to award the first scholarship in her name.

I also mentioned to Tim that I had heard the TKA show dedicated to Gia and how I could never had made it through the night w/o just becoming a crying useless ball in the corner. Tim chuckled and said he almost cancelled playing that night because his hand muscles were so tight from grief. I told him I was glad he fought through and played as those discs have been a lot of relief to me.

I was so glad that he chose to play. It was very medicinal for both of us, and I\'m sure many others!

Thank you for being there Leith...

You are welcome all but like I told Tim and Adrian, it was just a hop down the freeway for me but they came across the country!
Ron was supposed to be there also but a sudden family thing kept him from attending. It was one of Gia\'s dying wishes that The Breakfast play.
The "MC" of the Memorial did mention that the guys had a memorial for Gia on their website which was cool.

I had written something down but when I got up I just blanked and began to blabber on about how fun she was, how I met her because of this "little band outta CT called The Breakfast" and how she became a part of our Bfam. I talked about her zeal/zest for life, following the band w/ her, and that even though I never heard her sing an Opera proper I did get to hear her sing White Rabbit w/ The Breakfast!
I don\'t really remember all that I said but a few folks thanked me for speaking so it must have made some sense!
The place was packed. She was loved by ALOT of people and I signed the guestbook w/ my name and put  "thebreakfast.info (in spirit)."

Sidenote:
it was odd after the guys were done playing Good Things and were leaving the stage, hearing people murmur about how good they were. It was kinda like yeah those guys are Rockstars and Gia just had them play @ her Memorial. That is damn cool!

So the Memorial for Gia was really really nice.
I left after the "formal" part as I just am not very good in those situations.
I was able to get up and relay that Gia was loved by all that had met her through The Breakfast and how we were always happy to see her just pop up @ a  show.

In the video tribute there were some shots of The Breakfast and pics of Gia w/ various Bfam (Gavin, Phil, Steve, and myself  I remember). Tim and Adrian played Adagio(sp?) and Good Things.
I do believe Adrian and Tim were going to jam w/ Rich and whoever else wanted to and I probably should have stayed longer for that but I just could not.

"Radios in Heaven"
by the Plain White T\'s

Your time has already come and I don\'t know why
The last thing that I had heard
you were doin\' just fine
It seems like just yesterday
I was laughing with you
Playing games at Grandma\'s house
well you taught me well, didn\'t you?
I hope I\'m just like you

Do they have radios in heaven?
I hope they do
\'Cause they\'re playing my song on the radio
And I\'m singing it to you

You left before I had a chance to say goodbye
But that\'s the way life usually is
it just passes you by
But you can\'t hold on to regrets and you can\'t look back
So I\'ll just be thankful for the times that I had with you
I hope I\'m just like you

Do they have radios in heaven?
I hope they do
\'Cause they\'re playing my song on the radio
And I\'m singing it to you
If they don\'t have radios in heaven
here\'s what I\'ll do
I can bring my guitar when my time is up and I\'ll play it for you

Tell me can you hear me now
if not, then I can try to sing real loud
What\'s it like up on the other side of the clouds?
I hope I\'m just like you
I hope I turn out to be as good as you

"Sunrise doesnt last all morning
A cloudburst doesnt last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesnt last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of lifes strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away"

here\'s a couple more..

Please, mother mercy
Take me from this place
And the long winded curses
I keep hearing in my head
Words never listen
And teachers never learn
Now I\'m warm from the candle
But I feel too cold to burn
He came from an island
And he died from the street
He hurt so bad like a soul breaking
But he never said nothing to me

So say hello to heaven

New like a baby
Lost like a prayer
The sky was your playground
But the cold ground was your bed
Poor stargazer
She\'s got no tears in her eyes
Smooth like whisper
She knows that love heals all wounds with time
Now it seems like too much love
Is never enough
You better seek out another road
Cause this one has ended abrupt

Say hello to heaven

I never wanted
To write these words down for you
With the pages of phrases
Of things we\'ll never do
So I blow out the candle, and
I put you to bed
Since you can\'t say to me
Now how the dogs broke your bone
There\'s just one thing left to be said

Say hello to heaven

I\'ve used hammers made out of wood
I have played games with pieces and rules
I\'ve deciphered tricks at the bar
But now you\'re gone, I haven\'t figured out why
I\'ve come up with riddles and jokes about war
I\'ve figured out numbers and what they\'re for
I\'ve understood feelings and I\'ve understood words
But how could you be taken away?

And wherever you\'ve gone, and wherever we might go
It don\'t seem fair, today just disappeared
Your light\'s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars

With heavy breath, awakened regrets
Back pages and days alone that could have been spent,
Together... but we were... miles apart
Every inch between us becomes light years now
No time to be void, or save up on life
You got to spend it all

And wherever you\'ve gone, and wherever we might go
It don\'t seem fair, you seemed to like it here
Your light\'s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars

And wherever you\'ve gone, and wherever we might go
It don\'t seem fair, today just disappeared
Your light\'s reflected now, reflected from afar
We were but stones, your light made us stars

i am so blindsided by this i dont even know where to begin.

i had no idea gia was sick at all.  we shared some wonderful bonding time, but not nearly enough as far as i\'m concerned.  she was an amazing friend from the first time i ever met her.  she always gave me something to smile about.

as sad as i am right now, i have faith that her spirit is alive and well, just in a different form.  energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed, so i know the powerful, warm and loving energy this girl had will live with all of us forever.

i will miss you as a human being, gia, but i know we will meet again in another form.

let me take this opportunity to let all of you know how much i love you all.  i know i haven\'t been around much as of late, but you all are a second family to me, and i hope you know that i am here for you all in any way i am capable of.

i have so much more running through my mind, but i think i need to go take a walk and recenter myself.

well said Jim. can\'t agree with you more on everything said, except the take a walk part, i\'m lazier than the average person.

From Breakfast Digest Episode 4: (3/2/06)

Name: Giavanna Kersulis

Location: San Diego, CA

Thebreakfast.info Handle: giavanna

Favorite Breakfast Song: Hmmmm... I\'d have to say Question Mark is the one that I push repeat on the most. But I love Rufus off the Bona Fide album.

First Show: 11/14/03 Le Bar Bat in NYC.  I ended up there by accident.  We were a little put off at first because the band playing after The Breakfast had a weird crowd.  But we stayed and really got caught up in the musicianship of The Breakfast.

Favorite Show: Bill?s Bar in Boston in 2004.  It was the first time I saw them live since Le Bar Bat. I had ordered Deuce and Bonafide and had been listening to them a lot so I was ready to really appreciate the band. It was the night before some major auditions at school and I couldn\'t get anyone else to go with me so I went by myself, even though I knew I shouldn\'t go out. It was just so incredible to watch the crowd revel in the music. And then I bought the instant live recording of the show and it never came out of my car stereo (till someone stole my car stereo). Luckily I had made a copy.

What is your favorite musical note? Ha!  B-flat below middle C.
Favorite dynamic? Sfz p.
Favorite accent? Marcato.
Marcato, what?s that? It\'s when there\'s a horizontal line over the pitch. You stretch out the note a little more and emphasize the attack...like marching.

All I could do is sit down and look back at all the fun I was able to have with such an amazing person. I feel lucky to have been touched by her friendship.

I\'m glad Tim decided to still play last night. It was hard for many of us at times, but especially for Tim. Gia was and always will be in our hearts.

Late And The Great was the best version I have ever heard hands down. So emotionally driven.

Rest In Peace Giavanna and tear up the great big gig in the sky.....until we meet again...

I have no idea how to deal with this. I found out last weekend a friend committed suicide and now another close friend is gone this weekend!

I had never really been a fan of Opera but Gia showed me Opera could be fun.
Her voice was spectacular and her Beauty was only outshined by her Kindness.

I met Gia through this board and in person @ Baja Bash \'04. We went from Breakfast pals to really good friends as we both live here in S.D.
She would always try and drag me out to karaoke on Sundays and the fun we had will always be cherished by me. She was never down, Never! She may have gotten a bit perturbed here and there but I really have never met someone as joyful for life as Gia.

This past Mar. on Bfast tour tooling around w/ her was truly some of the most fun I have ever had on tour.
Her singing on White Rabbit @ Winston\'s was spot on!  I will miss her silly drink in one hand-twist of the hips-dipping of the head dance she did@ Bfast shows.

Gia was always one to tackle any challenge presented to her head on and damn if something got in the way. When she first told me of the Cancer, my first response was "Well if anyone is going to beat this it\'s you!" That\'s just how she was ya know?

Wow, this world just got a heck of alot less bright.

I could go on for days how much that wonderful woman meant to me but I am sure you all feel the same way.

Rest in Peace Giavanna, We all loved you more than we knew.

This is a tough one................
Giavanna was one of the most amazing human beings to walk this planet.
We are all better for having even just a shimmer of her existance in our lives and her being will always be with us......

wow. I never had the chance to meet her and always thought how cool it would have been to catch her sitting in with the band. Had no idea she was sick.

I only wish her family the best in this trying time.

I never met her, but each and every member of .info I ever talked to about her had nothing but amazing things to say about her. I hope I make half the musical accomplishments that she did in her short but fulfilling life.

this is heartbreaking. I remember her at the LeBar Bat show (her first show) and her asking me \'who these rockstars were playing?\' and then again hanging with her at Baja Bash howling at the full moon during the late night set... I know the guys had such a geat time at her place out in SD and Tim specifically telling me how beautiful and talented of a person she was..he was right.  im gonna miss seeing her very much when she would unexpectedly or expectedly show up at an east coast gig. man, life shouldnt have this kinda stuff happen...gona take a while to sink in, and she will be really showing the angels how to sing...

wow. this is horrible news.
i didn\'t know giavanna that well other than the few times we hung out at shows. it was always fun running into her spontaneously at venues up and down the east coast. i am so sad to see that she wasn\'t able to win this battle. this is such a shame. my heart goes out to her family and friends.

this is a hard thread to post. just got this email, thought i\'d pass it along. :(

Quote
I am trying to notify all of Gia\'s friends to tell you about her passing.
Please excuse the informal message but there is not an easier way.
For the past 4 months Gia has been battling a rare and agressive cancer that
did not respond to any of the treatment options. She continued to live her
life as fully as possible til she could no longer fight. She enjoyed the
thoughts and comfort of all her friends these last weeks.

We will be having a big celebration of Gia\'s life in the spring and will try
to let everyone know. In the meantime there will be a small gathering to say
goodbye for those who wish. We will let you know.

Those of you who know our family well will understand that we don\'t do
anything the "ordinary" way so...

Gia will be sent off in a Viking Funeral "OB Style" Her ashes will be placed
in her guitar (Luigi) and set aflame at sea off Ocean Beach. Friends can add
a note to be placed in the guitar too. These can be sent to the house or
placed personally next week sometime. We will be taking some private time
away this week.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to
establish
the Giavanna Kersulis Scholarship in Voice at San Diego State University.
Checks are made payable to "The Campanile Foundation" and sent to Dr. Marian
Liebowitz, Chair, Scholarship Committee, School of Music and Dance, San
Diego State University, San Diego, CA 92182-7902.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Best regards,
Dr. Marian Liebowitz
