Heads Up!! If Everyone On This Forum Can Get 2 People Not On This Forum To Send An Email To Terrapin... We May Be Able To Impact The Bands Chances Of Getting Invited To Play.

Things have changed since the last vibes at brigeport.
Uhaul folks were a problem that year at Vibes, at Wormtown and from waht i recall the first Bonnaroo
Uhauls are no longer allowed at vibes. (unless band or vending related of course)
Dogs have not been allowed since 2000 either. I think it is due to the issues described above.
Hell they had strippers performing sex acts at bonnaroo in a make shift night club behind ply wood walls. Festivals certainly have changed a lot but Terrapin tries the hardest IMHO to keep the bad elements at bay. Nothing is perfect but If you speak to a Terrapin employee they are usually more than helpful and will try to assist you with any problems that might arise.
I will be at this festival and have some inside connections. If any of you go and have any problems with people come find me and I would be more than happy to help any Bfast family with anything. It really is a nice spot for a festival. It is right on the beach, there is usually a nice cooling breeze coming off the water. And there arent really many festivals that take place on the beach.
I hope you guys will come. It will be a really good time

I also remember a bunch of hippie mafia types that brought mean dogs that weer biting people.
-
my buddy was telling me how people rolled in in uhauls and cleaned out peoples camp sites...... shadiness in them thar ghetto

Ghetto thugs don\'t tend to mess with people who have open minds & open hearts, only rich **** who have nothing to do but spend their husband\'s cash....
I am not sure I\'d try out that theory in East Palo Alto...
-
A good friend of mine is a bridgeport cop, and I know from his beat....it ain\'t pretty. shootings and stabbings are like every day. I\'m sure alot of that will stay out of the festival. But still....be weary when you wander away from the festival. I just want everyone to have fun and be safe. :)
Bridgeport\'s actually not half as bad as it used to be. It\'s cleaned up a lot in the past few years, and I\'ve gone there several times for concerts, shows and sporting events without any problems. Yeah, it\'s a rough city, but I guarantee that with the size of the festival, and the amount of dreds/heady people in town, it won\'t get ugly. Ghetto thugs don\'t tend to mess with people who have open minds & open hearts, only rich **** who have nothing to do but spend their husband\'s cash.... I\'m definitely excited for the festie, and will be there without a doubt. Of course, Skye, you\'re right - it\'s a good idea to be safe & look around wherever you are, but that shouldn\'t stop a person from wanting to have fun! :)

Follow the golden rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.
You can walk through hell and back and nobodys gonna mess with you.
For real though I don\'t know what people are worked up about.... nitrous mafia will keep you safe ;)

It seems to me that a lot of you folks lived fairly sheltered lives. I have seen posts on this site complaining about the elements in the South end of Hartford etc and now Bridgeport.
You guys make it seem that if step out of your car your gonna get jumped. gimme a break.
I\'m not sheltered. And I\'m sure the others with concerns are not either. That\'s a pretty broad statement. I\'ve been living for the last 6 years, sometimes in sketchy parts of new haven and west haven, including downtown new haven which alot of people would consider "dangerous". I am not afraid of anything, by all means. I will probably walk some questionable streets by myself if its the way to get there.
I just want everyone to keep their wits about them. A good friend of mine is a bridgeport cop, and I know from his beat....it ain\'t pretty. shootings and stabbings are like every day. I have never had a problem at vibes in Bridgeport and the vibes there pre-dates any involvement with Terrapin meaning I was just another attendee.
The only sketch I ever saw there was from people at the festival. They did not allow anyone in to the "area" (ie. camping, show etc) who was not wrist banded.

You guys make it seem that if step out of your car your gonna get jumped. gimme a break. I have never had a problem in the South end of Hartford. I grew up on the border of West Hartford and Hartford in a transition neighborhood. I know the area well and spent a good amount if time down there.
I have been in and out of the North End of Hartford many many times and never had an issue. Do you guys complain this much when you have to go to a show at the Meadows ? Because that place in smack dab in the middle of the worst part of Hartford.

Yikes... I went to the last of the GOTVs in Bridgeport.... It was... interesting. Certainly the only time I have locked my doors just before showing up at a festival.
Thus far, no reason for me to go.... Guess I\'ll juyst have to wait and see how it shapes up.
Yeah, when you drive into Bridgeport, the gangs aren\'t holding up signs saying, "welcome, hippies." Bridgeport has gotten a lot worse since 2000. But i\'m sure it still will be an awesome time. Just be careful of the elements.

i guess no one saw this...
Due to contractual obligations, if The Breakfast are booked to play the 2007 Gathering Of The Vibes, no announcement can be made until August 3rd, 2007.
rotflrotflrotfl

Well if you are refering to Dave\'s small print post, the fest starts on August 9th 2007.
Get it now?
no, i\'m reffering to something else. something along the lines that if you play vibes, you can\'t play other festivals w/in a certain mile radius or some ****.
-
whats the deal w/ that GOTV contractual obligation thingy? i remember hearing about it a while ago, but forgot the logistics of it. whatever it was sounded gay though.

Errrr... so that means they got it but they can\'t say? I don\'t expect an answer but that\'s just the impression I get from that statement.
Either way I\'ll probably be there, maybe it\'ll be the only festie I hit this coming summer, maybe not.

no reason for me to go yet
-
having this festie so close to home is reason enough for me to go - i\'m looking forward to good vibes in Bridgeport! I hope the band gets a chance to play - either on a main stage or a side stage... I\'ll definitely be there supporting them, even if they play in a ghetto pub down the street from the venue!

Here are a few reasons....
They are a nationally touring band from Connecticut with 4 studio albums and 1 live release under their belts......
In 2006 the blew the 4000+ folks away as the headlining spot on the first night of 10,000 Lakes Festival......
I can probably come up with a few more but I am getting ready to watch the 1pm showing of News Radio on TBS.....
But most importantly THE BREAKFAST HAVE BEEN GETTING SHAT UPON FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS AND I THINK THAT IT IS ABOUT **** TIME THAT THEY AT LEAST GET SOME RECOGNITION AT A FESTIVAL THAT IS LESS THAN 20 **** MILES FROM THEIR HOME **** TOWN......
and...you know...they are pretty good at what they do...
-
I hear ya............you did harsh my mellow regardless........
FUCKERPANTS!
Nothing a bit of Phil Hartman can\'t cure.

Well sorry but those reasons do not make them "deserve" a great spot. The albums have not sold enough to warrant a main stage spot and they tour nationally infrequently.
Are the organizers of 10k the same as GOTV? If not how are they gonna even know about the Bfast having a good show @ 10k
As for them being shat on well they have no one but themselves to blame. No concrete management will do that.
Sorry Steve but The Breakfast do not even sell out bars/clubs in CT. How do expect them to get a main stage slot for a fest in CT.?
Just a reality check. Not harshing any mellows.
-
While I think it would be cool for The Breakfast to get a high visibility slot I wonder how you come to the conclusion that they "deserve" a main stage slot.

I had a good time though.
Just don\'t want to do it again.
It\'ll take a ser Breakfast slot or some sort of wet-dream first-Bonnarooesque lineup to get me there.
-
Dude.... Buddy Guy?? I\'m fuckin there!!
-
I went to the Seaside Park GOTV in 1999 and I have no interest in going to another festival there. It tells you all you really need to know about the place when the front page of the festival website says "Yeah, we know, it\'s Seaside Park, but we swear it will be good this time. There were lots of improvements made. We promise." It\'s nice that you can now camp next to your car and that they mowed the grass, but maybe they should work on the fact that the public has free run of the camping area (you only need a ticket for the concert field) meaning that every thug from New Haven to The Bronx is there to steal anything not bolted to the ground and sell you fake drugs.
-
Well they already have DBB on the bill which blows my **** mind since DBB has been relatively inactive over the past few years. Will the get The Breakfast on the lineup where we deserve to be (on the main stage as opposed to some shitty timeslot on some shitty side stage) remains to be seen.....
Get your doses folks, because you pretty much have to be tripping your balls off to make any sense of the retarded babbling that comes from the way warped mind and mouth of Wavy Gravey....
No matter what the Bridgeport corridor of 95 is gonna get ugly come mid August.....
Well in 2000 the traffic was sucky but only on 1 exit. If you knew your way around Bridgeport it wasn\'t so bad and could be avoided. Metro North Goes there as well as amtrak so that is very helpful to folks They ran shuttles in 2000 form the train sta.
Wavy Gravy. he tells the same stories every year. I just tune him out and the amount of mic time he gets has been radically reduced over the years. he is pretty old and not so mobile. He basically will just introduce big name acts etc.
As for the Breakfast getting a slot. maybe. Because it is no longer at ILCC there should be a real late night that will not be cut off at the bikers whim like that last time the b-fast played.
The problem is the same problem tho. The Breakfast do not draw big numbers. It has been the problem the band has always had.
DBB - They have played every vibes. It is like a tradition. They have been playing more shows recently. they were at Toad\'s the night before thanks giving. And say what you want about DBB and the fact that they don\'t play many shows. They still out draw the Breakfast
