Here is some really good advice IMHO.
As soon as you can you NEED to know how to work the system. When I went to college they never really explained how to work the bureaucracy of the college or university. This is one of the most important things that will lead to great success and reduced stress.
Find out about how your college handles the following:
Early Drop dates for classes. (what date you can drop a class and not be penalized)
Auditing classes. (sitting in on profs and classes to see if it suits you and/or your class load)
Pass / Fail. (more important in later college years but very good to know. Which classes will allow it etc)
Also Just because a class says it is full does not mean that it is really full. If you need to get a class go talk to the professor. A lot of times they will place your name on the list and if they have a few people who drop or never show up they will let you in. Also if you show enough initiative that is usually all it will take to get you in. Professors tend to cut upperclassman more slakc when it comes to needing classes but work your magic.

ALSO find out what the big party nights are in and around campus and try to not schedule classes early the next day.
If professors ask for volunteers to do projects and research do it. I ended up doing just that and got 3 additional credits by helping a Doctorate student run a research project. I played rap music and showed **** for college credits. Also the networking with professors is huge. They will hook you up with letters of recommendations for jobs and/or other classes if you might need them. Plus if they are in your major they may be teaching a class you will need later on down the road. Always helps to have connections

school can be stressful, but it\'s nothing to be afraid of. you\'ll learn how to handle it.
just do what most other college kids do to keep their edge....drugs and alcohol......
and dont take no crap from that crusty old dean....

My fun bus missed the college stop!! :shrug:
Don\'t feel bad, my fun bus was on the college route...but it kinda got a flat...stalled out...or got jacked at gun point...

Well I guess that is why you are a teacher and I\'m well a ....... :)
College was just another stop on the fun bus for me but I guess I did have a few awakening moments so to speak.

it is possible to get good grades, make some (not a lot of) money and still have fun if you learn to manage those aspects of your life...

:shrug: I guess I meant "bad" points like the expectations that are put upon a student in college... midterms, research papers, exams, deadlines, etc., all while trying to support yourself & have some fun too!

congrats OMS-ithaca is a cool town. an old friend of mine from high school who is actually the guy who originally burned (yes illegally burned) a copy of the psychedelic breakfast\'s self titled albumn for me. i believe he plays lacrosse or some sport at the school and has told me that he loves the place. anyhoo, school can be stressful, but it\'s nothing to be afraid of. you\'ll learn how to handle it.

Well, I was depressed all through college and my life\'s been fantastic since I began my life as a free man... one of many ways, I suppose...

I don\'t know anyone who goes to the school there... but I do know some people who live in the city, and I have been there several times.... Great place to live. You\'ll have a blast.

Congrats. That takes a little of the stress off knowing your already in. Way to go. You should be very proud of yourself. And you can watch all your friends squirm as they procrastinate with applications and wait for the "fat" envelope
