everytime BB opens his trap it tunes me right out.
:that:
-
 Actually I could probably get into them then.
i\'m right there w/ you. i try to enjoy them, but everytime BB opens his trap it tunes me right out. this coming from someone who likes the lyrical stylings of the breakfast, moe., and the disco biscuits:gasp:

my first intro to umph was anchor drops and it took a little while, but i ended up loving that album..... local band does ok i loved the first time i heard it, i really think that was a better overall sound for them
safety in numbers does not do it for me (yet?) just a different thing goin on there that doesnt grab me, very spacey feeling.... like they\'re moving towards being an emo-metalish-notquitejamband-progressive rock band
-
all prog rock with even less vocals
 Actually I could probably get into them then.

That is because they are not a jamband. They are waay more a Prog Rock band. If Brendan Bayliss left the band they would be all Prog Rock. No doubt about it.

i listened to an umphrey\'s record on the way to a gig last week. i felt like i almost heard a bad brains influence in there. they\'re awfully metal for a jam band.

i find myself listening to safety in numbers way more than the other albums. i listened to it at least once on my headphones every day of tour, and still do all the time. it\'s got such well written tunes on it. i agree you gotta listen to it a few times, but it\'s fuckin good homeys

i think it was a step back for UM to do SIN as a follow up to Anchor Drops.
-
i would absolutely suggest it, first time i listened to it i didn\'t get is as much, i listened to it the 2nd and 3rd time and fell in love with it, flows incredibly well and is well balanced.

^i dont like safety in numbers. anchor drops is pretty good IMO. this coming from a guy who doesnt like UM.

safety in numbers has slowly risen to be one of my favorite albums of all time actually. their only REAL studio albums are local band does ok (old drummer, great music, doesn\'t flow so well), anchor drops ( a complete masterpiece of prog-rock) and safety in numbers (an incredible cd all around, lyrically musically everything)
-
how are their studio albums? I\'ve only heard like stuff by them which is excellent at times, horrible at other times

sorry gav it\'s all i\'ve got on the subject...
