looking forward to tonights eppy.
Yes - I?m directing an episode (maybe the first episode) of the ?Heroes? spinoff ?Heroes: Origins?. It?s gonna be fun, to say the least. Big thanks to Tim Kring and Jeph Loeb for not only inviting me to play in their sandbox, but to pop in on their panel with the news. I?m a huge fan of the show, and now to be a part of it is pretty amazing.
But coming out to that rapturous reception from the audience has officially entered my list of top ten career moments ever.
SPOILERS:out:
what?! chris you\'re a great guy and all, but that was the suckiest bunch of suck to ever waste my time! they spent time showing peter learning to use all the various powers he\'d gathered, but the one power he\'s been closest to his entire life, flying, and he what? forgot he knew how to do that?!! bullshit! why didn\'t he just fly off and not kill his own brother?! why didn\'t anyone think of that episodes ago when they knew there would be a show down with peter blowing up at the end? \'hey guys, you know what? when i start to go nuclear, i\'ll just fly up into the atmosphere to a safe level and let it out. problem solved."
and then with all those heroes around, knowing that sylar is a hard-to-kill bad guy and they just forgot to keep an eye on him? nobody bothered to look over to where he\'d been and saw the huge trail of blood?! why would all those people trying to kill sylar, you know, NOT go into the sewer and grab him? he\'s obivously not getting that far, what with the massive blood loss and all.
so weak, so lame. there\'s no way i\'m watching this show next season, as it made me feel dumber just watching this episode. not that the rest of the season was particularly engrossing, more like cotton candy for the mind. like lost\'s retarded cousin. that being said, i can only hope that lost won\'t cheese out as **** as heroes did, but this whole season has been borderline mind-numbing and this finale just sealed it. it was a pleasant, thoughtless way to kill an hour, but then to wank it off so insipidly was damn near insulting!! like no one is going to notice the gigantic gaping plot holes and logical inconsistancies presented in the finale... i like shows that make me think or that don\'t require any thought at all. but don\'t give me something that is only going to make me think about how crappy it was!!
Quote from: leith;145968I was left wanting with the finale.Quote from: Me!;146071Isn\'t that kinda the point though, to leave you with a desire for the next season? I know what you mean though it wasn\'t quite action packed enough, but I think they can\'t blow it all out right outta the gates. I can see this show going for quite awhile, so they gotta have somewhere to go and build to, and remember that Peter is not the Peter he was in the future episodes, with the control over his powers and what not. I don\'t know to each their own but I thought it was great.
I\'m watching the Season Finale of a 23? episode series. I\'m pretty sure I have plenty of desire for the next season already.
I just feel a bigger ending would have created more of a desire than what we got. I mean we watch these characters developing their powers all season for this one specific task and it goes down like that? :idunno:
It set up alot of different things for the next season which was cool for continuity though I will agree there.
I was left wanting with the finale.

I\'m intrigued by what Origins will bring..... as long is it can tied me over till Heroes starts up again i\'ll be happy.It\'s not gonna be before the next season it\'s gonna be during the next season.
Just how the "Origins" episodes will be scheduled along with the main "Heroes" storyline has yet to be worked out. The most likely scenario, Reilly says, will be to have "Heroes" start its second season in the fall and run more or less straight through its 24 episodes, with perhaps a short break during the holidays. "Origins" would then follow at the end of the season. Another option would be to run "Origins" "as a chunk" in the spring, before the concluding episodes of "Heroes."
"I\'ll tell you one thing you won\'t see is \'Origins\' peppered throughout," he says. "I think that would be difficult for the audience to navigate."

It seemed fairly anti-climatic as the final battle was pretty weak and you could predict the ending by just paying attention.
It was good and had some OMG! moments yes but it could have been better I think. I did enjoy how it left things to continue right into the next season and this whole Origins idea is straight from Comics. It should help to flesh out the Heroes Universe more.
When the series premiered in the United States, it was the night\'s most-watched program among adults aged 18-49, attracting 14.3 million viewers overall and receiving the highest rating for any NBC drama premiere in five years.[3] On October 6, 2006, NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly announced Heroes had been picked up for a full season.[4] On January 17, 2007, Reilly announced Heroes had been picked up for a second season.[5]. The second season of Heroes will consist of 24 episodes,[6] and the first season of new spinoff Heroes: Origins will include 6 episodes.[7]
\'Heroes\' Expands Universe with \'Origins\'
Stand-alone episodes will help NBC cut down on repeats
By Rick Porter
May 14, 2007
NEW YORK -- You want more "Heroes"? NBC is going to give you more "Heroes" next season.
The network has hit upon a way to keep the show repeat free for nearly the entire season, ordering more episodes of the show and embarking on a quasi-spinoff called "Heroes: Origins." Combined, the shows will account for 30 original episodes next season.
"We\'ve got something I call the \'bulk-up challenge\' for next year, which is trying to stay more consistent in our scheduling for the audience," NBC chief Kevin Reilly told reporters Monday at a press conference announcing the network\'s 2007-08 schedule. "We asked [\'Heroes\' creator] Tim Kring to come up with an idea, and what I love is not only did we bulk up with 30 hours next season, but also a whole new idea which I think is going to take the show to the next level."
The "Origins" series will consist of six stand-alone episodes, with each one introducing a new character and telling his or her back story. They\'ll take place within the "Heroes" universe but won\'t be tied into the main arc of the series, although one or two regular characters may pop up.
It will also carry an interactive element: After all six "Origins" episodes air, viewers will be able to vote on which character joins the main show the following season.
The idea for "Origins" springs from positive fan reaction to several side characters introduced this season -- Reilly cites Charlie (Jayma Mays), the waitress with the perfect memory, as an example -- and a desire to avoid momentum-draining breaks like the one the show took earlier this spring.
"I don\'t think the audience minds taking a week off, particularly during the holidays," Reilly says. "It\'s just the long hiatuses or weeks worth of repeats where we get in trouble."

Actually I just remembered NBC.com has full episodes online so you can just watch it there.
Please bring the tape. I hate watching shows on the computer and it takes a bit to convert downloaded .avi\'s to dvd format. I really need to either finish building my video server for my tv or buy an avi player.

 :that: We stayed up until about 6am last night, watching almost every episode of the show... I\'m hoping someone will be recording the finale on Monday night, since Tka & I will be at Osiris watching the best funk/jazz group ever! ;)

sweet, good to have another contributer to this thread. Def one of the best shows on TV.
Don\'t think there are too many spoilers in this thread but be careful what you read.Quote from: derickw;145533i look forward to a dvd collection...I\'m a big fan of commentaries, movies or otherwise, they have all the episodes with commentary online but I\'m not much of a fan of watching stuff on the computer. Peter was so badass in the future episode. The fact that he can learn anyones powers is nuts and he doesn\'t have to kill them to do it. When he squared off with sylar that was pretty sickKinda wished we could have seen more of that battle but reminded myself it\'s only TV not the movies.
Quote from: derickw;145335ya, i missed the episode where they explain stuff about Hero\'s dad so seeing him involved with everything was a bit of a shocker and to see him teaching Hero..... great stuffGreat scenes, (also kinda funny because of Hiro\'s obsession with Star Trek) Also loved the story about the original owner of the sword, (I forget his name right now)Quote from: derickw;145335but what the hell is Ando thinking going after Sylar on his own, doof. seeing Linderman go down was an interesting twist... is he really dead but the brain thing worked on Peter sooooo.Yeah but peter has the ability to regenerate, where Linderman has the ability to heal others, are they one in the sam? perhaps, but I think he\'s dead.

"TIM KRING - "Do you know where you\'re going?" and "Do you know the ending?" are two very different questions. I know where we\'re going in great detail for the first half of one season. We have a real sense of where we want these stories to be by the end of season one. We have a broad sense of where we\'ll go in season two. I have some ideas about farther down the road, but I\'m pretty superstitious about that.
As to needing an ending ? Unlike LOST, we have not set up a central dilemma that has to be solved, therefore concluding a larger quest. There is no island to get off of on HEROES. Instead, it\'s a show about characters dealing with extraordinary things happening to them. That is the central premise. So my sense is that if one can assume that dealing with their extraordinary abilities is something that these characters will always face, then their stories can bend and morph and evolve forever."
I think you are confused by the fact that they have stated that they are going to try to wrap up this Story Line. But the show is definitely multi season bound
This is REALLY good news, I was certainly begining to think it was gonna be a one season show, which would suck cause this show is GREAT!!! The future episode was unreal, the Sylar twist def caught me off guard. Can\'t beleive there\'s only 2 episodes left. Cant\' wait for Monday.Quote from: kindm\'s;144062Do you guys read the online comics ? while i still haven\'t started watching this show, i\'m certainly under the impression from the commercials that it\'s going to be a single-season show.

I have been watching religiously. Best show on TV hands down. last night was great. Lots of unexpected twists and the whole time travel thing is always a great mind screw.

i\'ll tell you what happened.... the guy didn\'t die and house is a drug addict.... period..... seasons over
There was a break for a few weeks in December/January
on a sidenote: fuckin American Idol! I recorded House on Tues. and AI went like 10 min long so I missed the last bit of House. :pissed:
It is the first real break in the season if I recall correctly
good ****, I haven\'t missed an episode yet.
Supposedly next week is "time for answers!" .. riiiight
Do you mean House? Cause Omar Epps is on that and yes it is still on the air, it comes back next Tuesday (1/30) I love that show too.
a lot of shows have been experimenting with breaks in seasons like this lately. LOST found out this year that, IT DON\'T WORK.
just watched the episode last night, can\'t wait for next weeks. I like the power of the invisable guy. pretty funny how the sword was a fake.
One thing I don\'t get is why his powers are becoming weaker just because he didn\'t save the girl. Did I miss something that explains this?
I hear they\'re having a weird structure for this show. They started with 10 episodes, then the "holiday break", then another few episodes (I think 6-8 I can\'t remember) then another break, and then another 5 or 6 episodes. weird if you ask me....
50% commercials 50% actual show last night...
didnt notice if they do have tonights up yet, but i did see that i can watch them all on thier website. thjats cool as ****. the other tv networks only leave like the last 3 or so episodes. i am gonna catch up on HEROES today i guess.
wait, arent they both on at the same time? if heroes wins the 9pm timeslot, how will you watch 24?
Heroes wins in the 9PM time slot for me. I will tape Heroes and watch 24 as it unfolds
i havent seen all the episodes so i dont wanna watch tonight. besides. Prison Break and 24 are on tonight.
do they have all the episodes on nbc.com to watch to get ready for tonight? hmmmmmm. i may catch up if they do and TiVo that tonight. i like the story so far in HEROES though
^^^
yeah, plus Dolphin-Assisted Theraphy (http://www.planetpuna.com/dolphin-paper-html/dolphin-paper.htm) looks like it might even be more fun than a good mindtrip =D
i guess this would be the thread to post this on.
i\'m having a bit of a dilema. as most of you know, i dont use drugs because of my past issues with addiction/alcoholism. however, i feel called to the ayahuasca ceremony. part of me feels that attending one of these ceremonies with a shaman would be on par with getting prescribed medicine from a doctor, but then part of me is like, \'well thats using drugs, and i dont do that\'. not sure what i expect any of you to tell me here, but i did just want to vent it. feelin pretty conflicted...
