i talked to piccozzi in the afternoon and he said he\'s never heard of the band before and they dont have the album

:yay: This is great news!  So glad I spent time on this, and encouraged others to do so as well.

Well, at least, when it burned at the trash to energy plant, it lit a light bulb in someone\'s house for about an hour.

wow. just wow.

even more of a reason to call and bother them.

i\'ll start calling as soon as i can pay for my phone to get turned back on. sorry

Not sure if this one is dripping with sarcasm or not...
Taking it literally I\'ll say that\'s the best damn excuse one can have not to call and any out of stater\'s calling are really going above and beyond.

I want to make it clear that I\'m not bashing anyone here for not participating.  I know we all have lives and schedules, and often many other priorities must be attended to.
Just a little frustrated, thought I had an idea there.

i wish i was being sarcastic, but instead i\'m just poor.

i think it\'s a good idea, and i will be calling everyday (that i remember) instead of just thursday. **** slater if he\'s getting annoyed, we should annoy him until he plays it. i hate the radio and wont be listening to find out if it actually ever does get played though.

You can send requests via e-mail. I have sent requests from my 8 e-mail accounts, using different names of course, to both Beef Stew (http://www.wccc.com/jocks/beef/Scripts/contact/contact.php) (Sunday night blues show) requesting Tricky Ways and to Slater (http://www.wccc.com/jocks/slater/Scripts/contact/contact.php) requesting Intension. But of course, with a name like Slater and a look like this: (https://thebreakfast.info/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wccc.com%2Fjocks%2Fslater%2Fimages%2Fslater.jpg&hash=66648b327f303256f9eb5fb5a7f96b1e0a6d87c4), I don\'t give that one much hope!!

/\\/\\/\\ They have not.
I get the feeling Slater is starting to recognize my voice, and is annoyed with me.
I also get the feeling I\'m one of very, very few calling.
That is at least partially my own fault for not bumping this thread more. (due to other stuff going on in my life my activity here has slowed)
I guess I expected more people here to have an interest in this.  :idunno:

Anyway I\'m still calling.  I\'ll give it another week. Who knows? Maybe this Slater cat will have a little sympathy.

Just called...Intension is the sond I requested and after 2/10\'s of a second of thought felt it was the one to ask for. Response from Slater was "I\'ll see what I can do for ya". I really feel that if, if not for only tonight but as many nights as possible, we bash them with requests from MANY people they will eventually play it. AND...if it is played, right after it\'s on it is followed up with phone calls of "WOW, who was that band again? That song blew me away! Loved it! I\'d love to hear more from that band!" Etc., etc. etc..... You get the picture. BUZZ, BUZZ, BUZZ!!!!!

You can listen online here. (http://release.theplatform.com/content.select?pid=yyozxTRVmxPDIsWsw9SaNkaOX-WCRMrL&UserName=marlinbroadcasting)

Monday 10:24 PM     Faith No More     Epic
Monday 10:14 PM    Evanescence    Call Me When You\'re Sober
Monday 10:11 PM    Cake    The Distance
Monday 10:08 PM    Flyleaf    Fully Alive
Monday 10:03 PM    Disturbed    Stupify

:sigh: Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..........gonna fit right in there with all this crap!!!!! Can\'t wait!!!

Yes today is the day. I have already called.

First off thanks once again for everyone participating!
Second, now is not the time for dissention on what song!.
I originally posted this thread on 9-11-06, so there was plenty of time for that then.
Future Peek won the best song on the album poll on this very board, so that\'s why I chose it.
We all have our favorites, but I ask you to please put those aside to make this a concentrated effort instead of half-assed scattered Breakfast business as usual.

Sorry to be so autocratic with this, but I truly feel it\'s important.

btw Todd- way to go with getting on management for this and the Toad\'s deal.

Intension, IMHO, is the best radio song the band has on that album. It has a catchy chorus that you can sing-a-long to and it is an harder-edge rock song. Whatever they can and will play will work though.

ya think? i disagree completely.. :idunno:

FP seems really light and fluffy to be played amongst most of the stuff here (http://www.wccc.com/musiclog.php).

if there\'s one song on that album that belongs in that log, it\'s Intension, hands down.
I  love Future Peak and think it would be a great radio song, but after reading the list of the other stuff they play, Intension is the obvious choice. They have the cd, so is it ok to request Intension or what?

For complete instructions go to page 1 of the thread, but in summary:

1 day a week (or more if you\'d like) call this radio station @ (860) 525 WCCC.
Request the designated song (TBD) during the 10pm-11pm request hour.
Ideally we can have 5-10 different people call each day and the ablum some airplay.

I could not find contact info for WVOF but every Wednesday at 6 PM SHARIN\' IN THE GROOVE looks like a good candidate for requests

from what i understand an unwrapped cd isn\'t that bad. my girlfriend works for a band and she does promo and she\'s told to take the plastic off because some stations get so much stuff (cd\'s and promo) if it has plactic on it they won\'t bother even opening it.

I\'ll see if I can\'t help any.

*We\'ll start after I receive my copies of Moxie Epoxy and get one to WCCC.  B\'Fast management has been contacted for their song of choice for us to request.  (I know, I know, but we all should work with them not against them)

I\'ll let everyone know through this thread and pm when I get that disc to the station.
We can divide who\'s got what day then.  Everyone is welcome to call multiple days.

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far!

I should have this album in my hands soon, and I\'d like to take a copy to WCCC.

Can I get a roll call for those who will particpate?

Also- Anyone in the know, what song would the band/management like us to push?

or a jam band that rocks? If it wasn\'t for the unpredictable and always changing jams I probably wouldn\'t give a crap about the breakfast. I also made a pretty smooth transition from the Phish scene to being a ser Breakfast fan.

And from what I\'ve heard about Breakfast sets owning various festivals, I think they are very much for the jamband scene.

No doubt Breakfast isn\'t easy listening though... for most people it seems to be an aquired taste... like heroin.. gives you the spins at first but before you know it you can\'t get enough of it ;)

I have friends who came from heavy metal and noodley-jamband scenes who now think The Breakfast is the best band they\'ve ever heard.... so yeah its tough to nail down their appeal to one scene.

forgot my point...

The last time they came to my town, they opened for the Big Wu, and me and my friends likened their music to Punishment, more than groovy tunes. 99.1 is corporate owned (Cox) so they are told what to play from a central office.

WPLR will NOT play the Breakfast. It is owned by ClearChannel and any interruption to the automated computer play list might malfunction the entire system. The ONLY program that plays local bands and bands without major labels is the Sunday Local Bands Show or something.

ccc prides itself on hard stuff, so you\'re going to need at least an intension or surreal radio to get on during the day.

However, your best bet for airplay on ccc is to push for tricky ways during beef stews blues show. The only problem is, this wont roll over onto the rest of the schedule.

good luck!

I think Honeybutter would be a more likely option probably closer to a regular radio length tune.

Request line: 860-525-WCCC* but NOT YET they don\'t have the album yet

Thinking a little further on this, I think the target number of people should be 50.  10 people per weekday.  Each day gets a "captain" for lack of a better word who reminds his "team" to call.  Each person only has to call one day a week.  Not too hard. Think- the "snow list" from elementary school.
Is this anal? Over the top? Work?  Yes on all accounts.  This is business.  This is serious.  There no such thing as too structured or over organized.

Quote from: bdfreetuna
I don\'t agree that we have to check with management... I mean, do I have to ask to use the bathroom too?

I hear you on this, I really do, but the thought behind approval is having all oars rowing in the same direction.  Concentrated effort is key.  Too often I get the feeling some .infoers have an adversarial relationship with band management.  No good.  Altogether on this one.

WHCN 105.9 in Hartford is also called "The River". Or at least that is what it got changed to a while ago when ClearCRAP Communications bought them out. Talk about the death of a great radio staion!!! That one hurt more than the ClearCRAP buy-out of 104.1.

But I agree...it should be a request for only a certain song. Psygn or Honey Butter would be my picks for CCC.

No relation to the Hartford and MASS River....I spend a good bit of time in the Boston area where my girlfriend listens to that River Station and was confused at first too.  The Boston River (92.5 I think) is much better than Lenny Kravitz > Smash Mouth > Sugar Ray that you will hear on the CT River!

Word.

I would also recommend WRSI (The River) which has stations going all up the pioneer valley in Mass and VT. This station is really big in the Northampton area and it plays the best mix of music in the area.... WSP, Umphreys, Phish, etc all get shown occasional love from the station.

They are independent too and will play something if they get enough requests. WRSI is known to discover songs long before other more "mainstream" stations put them on their crappy limited playlists.

I have yet to hear the new album so I can\'t decide which song I\'d want to start calling in to request... but yes its very important to pick 1 song and pretty much stick with it in order to make a "hit".

I don\'t agree that we have to check with management... I mean, do I have to ask to use the bathroom too?

Surreal Radio would probably be well suited to WCCC
Good Things might be better for WRSI

there is no reason we can\'t target different radio stations with a harder rocking song for the harder rock station and a slower/extra-tasteful song for the hippie/indie station.

It just so happens that WRSI is an extremely popular indie radio station around here, it can be done!

To Everyone on .INFO:

106.9 WCCC needs to start hearing calls requesting Moxie Epoxy.
They are an independent radio station based in Hartford who take great pride in the fact that they played Springfield\'s Staind before anyone else.
They don\'t require a major label to get airplay.
http://www.wccc.com/ (http://www.wccc.com/)

They lean a little more to the metal side, but a Surreal Radio or a Psygn would fit nicely.  They\'ll probably even do a Late and the Great.

We need to:

1. Get the approval from official Breakfast management.

2. Get the station a copy.

3. Choose one song and one song only (intially at least) and persistently bug the **** out of them to play.

All of us need to be involved. They\'ll overlook one nut, 40 or 50 asscracks are hard to ignore.  We need to have at least 10 people call everyday.  Preferrably in the same DJ\'s time slot.

This is just off the top of my head. Please add thoughts and ideas.

This is our chance to really do something for these guys instead of just talking.

Thank you,

Brian
