Anyway I do support the guys in their efforts now I just am not as enthralled as I once was that\'s all.
That was my first reaction after I heard the news... especially after I heard Beardslee was Jordan\'s last show the day AFTER the show (and I had decided at the last minute not to make it to that show... I definitely would have otherwise...)..
but then I went to Providence and Southbridge, and, well... I have never seen 3 people put so much effort into creating live music on stage.
I dig the Breakfast trio! For all I care they can remain a power trio forever and never get another keyboard player.
I\'m really looking forward to my next shows in Burlington and Albany because as a 3 part band it seems like Breakfast is really taking the jams into some new and crazy places.. I mean this band was never *predictable* but after 40 shows or whatever you can predict a lot of whats going to happen. Those last 2 shows as a trio were totally unpredictable!
For some reason both the Southbridge and Providence recordings don\'t stand out as "best ever" when I listen to them again... but, screw it, my mind was blown on both occasions.

I like hearing the keys as well.....especially on the CD.
But being honest about it, I was totally opposed to them going out as a trio, and said so. But when I heard them as a trio I barely missed Jordan, and in many instances felt the the remaining three shone even more brightly without that mass of sound in the middle.
Not a knock on Jordan, more of a compliment to the rest of the guys. Right now they are having fun learning new ways to play songs. Ultimately I think they might want another fourth, but I think it might happen when someone they know and trust offers their services.
Until then I hope people like Lieth will understand that I was the most skeptical person around, and one with a lot of marbles on the table to see the right outcome. And I\'m totally supportive of where they are right now.
And the CD is stupid good.
In short....you would miss the keys more on the CD than live.
Exactly how I felt when I heard Jordan would be on the album. I really did not want to hear studio versions of songs I have come to love without Jordan.
If they decide to release an album as a trio I would hope it would be newer songs they developed as a trio.
As for how you felt when you heard them as a trio for the first time well that is cool for you but I had the exact opposite reaction you did Vic.
I still do.
The void left in the key position is just not fulfilled for me with Tim doodling key riffs. The synth stuff he does is more to my liking though so its a draw there.

I\'m hoping he will be on most of the tracks, as the keys really enrich the music.
If I had to guess which tracks he isn\'t on, the harder-hitting rockers (Intension) would be at the fore of the list.

I\'m not responding to track order, because I think I remember it. LATG and OE are in fact two seperate tracks, but they will flow into each other the same way they are played at shows.

I think this would be a good order
1. Surreal Radio- Simple, yet strong. Perfect opener.
2. Honeybutter- 1,2 punch of rockers can work great.
3. Good Things- Now that you\'re listening here\'s a little depth
4. Intension- sharp, choppy vocal cadence a nice shift from Good Things
5. Psygn- The album\'s center piece
6. Future Peek- A nice surprise from a slot that often contains filler
7. Tricky Ways- Middle end = perfect place for something completely different
8. Late and the Great- Close strong
9. Overexposure - Ditto

thats what I figured but since they have been playing them together I was a little unclear. Sweet nonetheless cant wait for the album. definitely gonna pre-order. As far as the ablum being in stores is concerned dont alot of jam band fans by their cds at the show of the band they are seeing or else get them online. I would think having the album at hte merch table before is in store would actually be a sound business decision.

^^I don\'t doubt it. The few tracks I really want to hear (Good Things and LatG>OE) I haven\'t heard yet, and those will prob overtake Intension as good as it is. But I love the vocals on Intension.

I have had the privilege of hearing the whole album. Not the final edit, but close enough. Deuce was my fav. forever, but I agree with Steve....their absolute best to date!!! Can\'t wait to get a hold of the full cd!!!!

I had a chance to look at some unfinished pics of the digipack artwork.....Along with the songs, production, etc., the art and packaging is quite exceptional and professional......
The molecule "b" logo is quite apparant in parts of the packaging. Initally I hated the "b" logo, but after seeing it depicted in the album art, I am officially sold on it and have gone from anti-"b" to all about the "b"

from the small snippets that I have heard and what sounds like an excellent package, I agree that it is their must mature release to date. I still want to know when I can get my paws on it.

And yeah I suppose the eco packs can\'t be replaced... but again... we all have a million jewel cases sitting around so who cares?

The eco pack can be used for many of the same things, I\'m fine with it, I\'ll end up losing the case after a year anyway and buying another one, gotta support the band right?

psygn and good things particularly caught my ear. the way timmy sings good things is so far from what he was able to do even just last year. now if he could just learn the piano part....and play it at the same time as the guitar parts and the singing parts......;)

I dont think so.....They laid down the bulk of the album over a few days in a studio up in vermont....i dont think there was much beating around the bush during those sessions, but i dont really know for sure.....

I don\'t think its going to make much of a difference. I mean there are albums out there that have "special guests" who are on the entire album. I mean sure the sound might not be the same.

The album is sick, and I cannot wait to buy myself a copy. I have a feeling that this could be the album that starts getting this band some recognition where they have had none. It is a beauty from the title to the tunes to the order they are placed on the disc to the in-studio creativity on all the tracks will make all of you very proud to be Breakfast fans.....

Yeah Jim that really sucks. I don\'t think the band played it enough to unleash its true potential. I bitched to Tim about it when I first heard it on disc, but then when I saw it live I "got" the whole blues awakening ending. Damn shame, would\'ve been a nice way to end or open the disc.
