So what is the verdict on Raq\'s new album, Ton These?

I\'m thinking about purchasing it via Amazon (through .info of course, Dave).  Also, Amazon is offering a package of the new Raq and Umphrey\'s cds for $27.99.

What is the vibe?

Are either (or both) worth buying?

word on the raq board was that it could have been worst show ever and end of the world is also called 15 steps or something.  might be an original, not MMW

Raq BFAM= Brother From Another Mother.  (I know, I see the wink but I\' figured I\'d splain anyway)

so did anyone buy the album?? what\'s the general consensus?

Bought the album, still in the plastic.  They opened with CIty Funk which is on this new album (they also played it last time) which kind of reminds me of Black Crowes meets Hoist era Phish.  I like.

Quote from: Gfunk
they have a tune called end of the world party our did they play the mmw song? kinda wierd either way.

MMW.  Don\'t think they played the whole thing, not sure though. They do, FYI have a song called Donkey Show.  To which I say about damn time someone used that for song title.

I heard rumors of Katonah cancelled and I went (I would have gone either way) hoping to see a Timmy/Adrian sit in.  No go.  I saw Jordan in the crowd, and figured surely, he would step on stage.  He did not.
Yeah, I talked with Jordan yesterday afternoon and he said that he probably would not be sitting in. Glad I chose to be a good boy and stay home!!

Yes I have already promised my full support to Tim for the shows in L.A. and S.D.
It is still 2 of my favorite musicians in the whole world and Ron who is phenomenal w/ them so it\'s not like I hate the music it just does not move me as it used to.

As I wrote Tim maybe seeing them in person will recapture some of the feeling I had with the quartet.

Either way thanx for the support Spacey.

^Ser **** talker. timmy is ownin\' the keys lately.

Oh please! I was fuckin\' around about the keys as everyone knows how I feel about the instrument.

BUT if you want to start on about Tim owning keys I have to say you must be drunk!
Tim is decent @ best playing keyboards in the band. He may play well enough to add color and nuance to some songs but please I know 14 year old kids that can do that!

He is multi-talented I give you that but come on. Owning?

How many times have you seen the trio/tim play keys now? just wondering.

I have only seen the Daniels St. dvd in which Tim most def. did not own the keys.

I have heard the night before in Philly(no ownage) and the last Mill St. in August(no ownage).

I\'m sure that Leith will be attending at least one of these shows this tour and will be able to make a judgement based on being there and if he still doesn\'t like it, will everyone lay off the surfer.

Tim got an advanced copy of Ton These at Wormtown......It\'s basically the Todd Stoops album.  Personally i didn\'t hate it....it was kind of sophmoric, but still very listenable and danceable....

I would be willing to pass out shows after the flyer......

The 3 I have heard are ripping!!
Oh and they have a kickass keyboard player so I dig the **** out of that! ;)

are you kidding me?  i heard the whole album and it was all cliche jamband spew to me.  there might have been 1 jam on the entire album that was good in my books.  the rest was textbook raq weak ass jamming, w/ some lame lyrics thrown in.  michetti barely gets any chance to shine on the album is 100% Stoops led.  keys may be fun, but they ain\'t gonna tear your face off.

Keys ain\'t gonna tear your face off?
Well maybe not in RAQ but if you think that you have obviously never seen a really good keyboard player.

I suggest you go see Chick Corea live.

Take a listen to some Reconstruction and you will hear a young Merl Saunders giving Jerry and your mind a run for their $$$$.

Keys CAN tear your face off!

Back to the thread though, I think the tracks I have heard are great you don\'t big deal.

edit: Just called Katonah Bar and Grill and Tim is playing there this Thurs.  Not until 10:30 though.  What time does RAQ go on?  there\'s always the possibility he could sit in, and then hustle over to NY, but it sounds like it would be pretty tight.

RAQ on RELIX Magazine Sept/Oct CD Sampler!
Body: Be sure to pick up a copy of the current (Sept/Oct) issue of RELIX Magazine (you can find RELIX at most bookstores) as "Bootch Magoo" from "Ton These" is Track 4 on the included CD Sampler! The CD has 12 Tracks and RAQ is in good company as this CD also features new music from Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Ray LaMontagne, The Duhks & Government Mule. Also in quite the synchronistic alignment, the track on the sampler preceding "Bootch Magoo" is from the new John Popper Project CD featuring our friend, DJ Logic, who has now been added to the bill for "On the L" on November 24th. Plus, check out the full page spread for "Ton These" on page 5 of RELIX!

One more date to add to your calender...RAQ will be appearing at North by Northwest in Philadelphia on Friday, December 8th. Remember to keep checking back for more tourdates!

COUNTDOWN TO FALL TOUR: ONE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

Ton These,

Cause Chris Michetti is just a decient guitarist.....Come on now Colin.....Although I have seen him throw his hands up in the air while dueling with TPalms but he is still one of the premier guitarists in the scene today...

Whoa!

These guys are good, i\'ll be going with a few heads....

Even though most of you are referring to someone else, as of Saturday I\'ll be officially off summer hiatus, so I\'ll most likely be working that night.  A Freakout promo team of 4-5 people can be well taken care of.
Anyone else is on their own ;)

I\'ve been so bogged down at work lately that I haven\'t been able to really get things going for Toad\'s promo.

There will be Wild Pack members at all Toad\'s Place shows that are good matches for peeps were trying to bring in. I am hoping that Monday is the first date of promotion. I am going to have the Tour Poster updated and flyers ready to go.

Let me know if your interested in promotion for this show.

I honestly only went last time to see BRAQfast, and def dug RAQ\'s stuff.  I recognized one of their tunes from the "optical illusion" DVD.  (that I watched over and over and over again at the merch table)  But I had a good time, I\'ll go see them again.
