I sent two "letters to the editor" to jambase.com,dissapointed that they hadn\'t mentioned anything about Jordan\'s last show, weeks after it occured, assuming they\'d already been notified.. once after the announcement of scott metzger\'s departure from Farticle, and the other today, when they made some mention of some guy leaving "Band of Horses".. I think they got the point: http://www.jambase.com/headsup.asp?storyID=8870
the comments people lend are rather dear and insightful...
-
Yeah, i was making more of a blanket statement on this whole topic, without wanting to start a new thread, there has already been enough of them.

Dude Walsh, did you even read this thread??
No one said they were going anywhere, and no one was really asking why. This was more an inquiry as to where press releases had gone to.
That being said.......... I do agree though BFAM FO LIFE!!!

The amount of garbage speculation about what "happened" is rediculous on this board. A decision was made, that is all fans "need" to know. Where this sense of entitlement comes from is beyond me. If you don\'t think that they will be the same without Jordan, you are right, it is pretty **** obvious. To go in to this transition period with doubts about their ability to work things out, is just plain ignorant. Maybe it will work or maybe it won\'t, I know one thing, the band isn\'t giving up! So why should you.
Maybe it is because I have already been through this as a fan with another favorite band of mine, but I am willing to let things fall as they may. Stay positive about this change, it just might be the thing they needed to explode. Or it might fall apart all together. Either way fans should just support the band they love. If you don\'t feel the same about The Breakfast(and it is STILL The Breakfast), because Jordan left...that is fine, move on with your life...that is the way things go sometimes. I, for one, KNOW for a fact that I am not going ANYWHERE...this is all just TOO MUCH FUN! Long live the Breakfast and LONG LIVE THE B-FAM!!!
Amen.

Good point, delfunk.
But what about:
Jimi Hendrix Experience?
Mountain?
The Police?
Blue Cheer?
Motorhead?
Gov\'t Mule?

Well First off I think that Jordan was sent off in poor fashion but I do not blame anyone I blame the circumstances surrounding the seperation.
Just how do you say goodbye to a brother all the while hoping something will change for the better? I mean this was hard and no matter how open the band is to us as fans some things in private HAD to be sorted out I am sure.
Jordan had to make a choice I am sure he did not want to make and the band in its familiar way just did not know what to do. They know they can be a trio but is that The Breakfast? There was a reason keys were in the band. How long do they look ? Where to look? Is there a way that Jordan can return to the band and how? All these questions had to be thought about. How hard is that? When do you finally say OK let\'s make it final, this is the show, how hard is that to decide?
On managements side well they gotta deal with those guys so you know ;)
As far as press releases on other sites and such well we ARE talking about The Breakfast who until recently have been very below radar and hardly covered anywhere so......
I think it has been proven these guys jam well as a Trio( Tomatotron, GTB) so to think they can\'t be successful as a trio is silly but they do imo suffer vocally if they stay a trio.
I just pray they find another Keys player QUICK I really do.

Hey...you are pretty bright.
To be honest, i wasn\'t going to comment on it at all, but it reached a point where some of the comments were simply too uninformed to let stand.
He HE. I hope the toungue in cheek acceptance of "free advice" was intended, because If so it worked!!!! :) Sincerely sorry to sound so preachy.
I have yet to hear the music as a trio but suspect it can be stunning. I\'ll have to look at the sked and see when I can check it out.

i think you were just trying to beat me to the top 50 posters

Its time to deal with the future, not the past. This stuff is difficult enough for the band. If you like them all as much as you claim to, let it rest. The sooner this stops, the faster everyone heals and gets on with their loves and lives.
Steffmo,
Based on my experiences of hanging around bands that have membership changes ( attrition or death in one case for me) I will assure you no matter what you try to do or say, and maybe IN SPITE of it, this will not die down, now or in the near future. I am saying this because I do care and do love what these guys do.
Personally, I am already "over it", as I have hung around the live music scene for long enough to know playing your 1000th show at Toads place after 7.5 years means you (the organization) are not making huge amounts of bank. Jordan obviously chose to earn some money and work on stability in life rather than be a starving musician.
That said, reference the clamor over Phish\'s 2 hiatus\' so far, that sh@t just doesn\'t stop............................................ and won\'t for quite a while.
Point: The greater the talent/longevity of the group, the more fervent the fans and the more "tied in" to the music they know/remember/made love to/drove thousands of miles to see, etc.
Advice: Don\'t comment on it any more than you have, let the natural FANaticism of fans occur, that\'s what makes it fun to be a fan.
After re reading this I meant to be pragmatic rather than preachy, but it IS a little preachy, sorry.
Kyle

I personally want to see the Trio get enough time to develop. I give them 12 shows and then it should be incredible and endless with the possibilities. I still need to get use to seeing Tim up there with all that crazy equipment but it sure is fun seeing Tim trade keyboard and guitar licks. I also think the sound will become much more rooted in rock. I think they will be more than able to hold there own for quite some time.
-
It will be very curious to see what the geeeral public thinks of this. At first I was pretty adamant that we needed a fourth.
BUT, as a trio it becomes bery obvious who the band genius is...and that would be Tim. Then he gets all the guns blazing...betrween the typical guitar heroics....plus some looped sample....plus trading keyboard licks with himself.....I have a suspicion that people that never quite got it before might HAVE to acknowledge the band.
At any rate, even if we do find the right guy, i think some of these new tricks will stay in the show.
Should be a fascinating week.
-
No problem ME.....I ditched the feathers a long time ago.
steffmo is the sexiest bald turkey ive ever seen, and we thank you for all your help....
and imho the trio is as impressive as the quartet, only in different ways.... obviously the songs structures and what not are going to remain the same and be cool as ****, its the performance of those songs that will be altered (and often times almost unoticeably i thought) and these new performances are going to be so sick and so fresh that im pretty sure i will be leaving **** stains on dance floors for years to come, as i have for the past 10 months
-

-
^^thanks for the info Steffmo, again didn\'t want to ruffle any feathers just curious as to who had been told.
Trust, most of us know how hard you work and sacrafice for this band, and we really do appreciate it. As you said, it\'s all cause of the love, we want this band to suceed just as much as you do......
-
First off...I posted the Monday press release heare three days early to inform those who had heard the rumors. I suppose I COULD have reposted it on Monday for those of you that couldn\'t figure out what was happening.
That same press release WAS posted pn .NET on Monday, and was also sent to ALL of the appropriate jam sites. We do NOT control what they print, but they were notified. So thats about all that could be done there.
Jordan was NOT going to appear at 10klf or any of those shows on that run. That was his decision, we understand his situation. The BAND decided that if they had to start playing SOME gigs without Jordan, it made more sense to prepare and then just DO it. Both decisions makes sense to me. Once you have to rehearse it three piece, might as well just do it.
As far as someone\'s comment that management makes all this money off the band....that is incorrect, ignorant speculation. All of us constantly run in the red while building this band. We do it for the same reason you come here...because we love the band. If you don\'t know the facts, perhaps you should keep your thoughts to yourself.
As much as we will miss what Jordan brought to the band, an open mided person would understand that with the immense talents of the remaining three a lot of knew and cool things will be presented as part of the act. The band has no intention of doing ANYTHING that in the long run will lessen the quality of the product. We do plan to audion keyboardists in August. If and when we find someone that brings the same quality to the band that Jordan did, we will hire that person.
As Jordan stated, he made his decision months ago. Unfortunately transitions are difficult for all of us. But this much I\'m pretty sure about:
1) Jordan will enjpy the weekend with his wife. 2) the band will be great at all their dates this week.
Its time to deal with the future, not the past. This stuff is difficult enough for the band. If you like them all as much as you claim to, let it rest. The sooner this stops, the faster everyone heals and gets on with their loves and lives.
-
THANK YOU JORDAN FOR ALL THE GOOD TIMES AND GREAT MUSIC. My MEMORIES OF PLACES LIKE TOBACCO ROAD AND CAMP KEE WANEE WILL ALWAYS BE STRONGER BECAUSE OF THE MIGHTY PSYCHEDELIC BREAKFAST AND YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WHOLE SHEE BANG.
I wish you luck and good fortune on your path.

wow. just hearing about this all for the first time. its too bad, im gonna miss those ridiculous synths. nugroove is going to be.... interesting?
-
THANK YOU for all the great music, Jordan!!
-
i think the problem here is that it was ONLY POSTED TO THE .INFO. nowhere else. seems like they are trying to promote themselves as the Breakfast eyt they are only now a 3piece. not saying i see it as that, but others may. and it was def said that the announcement would be made Monday officially, and it wasnt. not good for the midwest people thinking they are seeing a 4 piece band...
-
I just assumed that the leaving of the original keyboardist would have been a priority for them. I mean it is a huge deal. The band is not the same, they are now a 3 peice and have to resolve the issues from being cut down by one member. Out of respect for Jordan who for the most part has given his best effort and toured with the band for nearly 8 years, I believe that more effort should have been put into Jordan\'s "last show" and they should have just made the 1000th his last "official" show, so he could have gone out in style not in front of 70 drunkards at an empty Beardslee.
Here\'s an idea:
Have an official "last show" in the near future

THE BREAKFAST SEEKS NEW KEYBOARD PLAYER/VOCALIST
After 7.5 years without a lineup change, up and coming rock/jamband The Breakfast is seeking a new keyboard player/vocalist. Jordan Giangreco is leaving the band to pursue other interests.
"It is with deep regret that I have decided to leave my post as keyboard player for The Breakfast," Giangreco said. "This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in my life. For the past seven years I have experienced pure musical bliss that one can only dream about. I feel fortunate and lucky to have played with three of the best musicians on the scene. My experience with The Breakfast has been unforgettable, exciting, humbling and satisfying."
"I would like to thank The Breakfast fans for all their support through the years, and also to thank those who devoted their time and effort on the band\'s behalf," said Giangreco.
The Breakfast will solicit demos and hold auditions in order to find a replacement. The band will fulfill their tour schedule and commitments, as well as any and all future shows and opportunities during this transition. Submissions can be sent to:
The Breakfast
58 Bradley Ave. 2nd Floor
Hamden, CT. 06514
Inquiries can also be e-mailed to: tim@thebreakfast.org or ronwspears@sbcglobal.net.

This was supposed to have been posted on thebreakfast.net, jambands.com, jambase.com, I didn\'t know that it was supposed to have been up on breakfast.info that\'s news to me. A while ago I did my part, by writing a statement of my leaving the band, and it was supposed to be out and wasn\'t. This decision I made, was made a few months ago, and I kept it quiet b/c I didn\'t want the fans to go nuts and think the band would break up. Obviously, they will continue as I will on another path. Thanks to you all.
-
, so he could have gone out in style not in front of 70 drunkards at an empty Beardslee.
so there wasn\'t that many people at beardslee? i damn sure would of been had I been given proper notice it would be his last show. i had heard he would be departing but like everyone else who heard "things" i didnt think it would have been so quickly
-
from what I\'ve been told the managment has their reasons for not announcing things earlier, I"m not trying to make excuses here but it seems like it cam down to business decisions and thinking about the rest of the summer
and on top of that, even those of us who knew were surprised to find out that Beardslee was Jordans last show, it seems to be something that people didnt\' think was going to happen immediatly, but things changed.....
BUT: that does not negate the fact that this has not been announced to the general public yet, it is BIG news within th eband and outlets within our "community" should be made aware, so they don\'t try and get into a "Psychedelic Breakfast" (which alot of people still think is the name of the band...) show w/o a keyboardist
-
spacey, i feel the exact same way... i expressed my analagous desire for a proper departure of jordan in the beardslee thread. i don\'t think it was too much to ask, especially since the band has known since (i believe) *january*! and it is the responsibility of the managament to say "hey, lets pick a date, make a statement, and stick to it", is it not??
i would have loved to send him off right, and professionally. sometimes i feel like the band would be taken more seriously across the music scene if they acted like professionals....

I thought I heard someone mention that the official statement was going to be made on 7/10/2006, Monday, but nothing never came about. It would be nice to have an official statement from the band or managment, someone. Or should be all just pretend that there was never a keyboard player?
My question is how long will the breakfast be advertsied a 4-piece. I mean they still use .org on many of their flyers/posters, Derick changes them for our promotion. The booking agent on .net is still Bret not Ira. Tighten up some of these minor loose ends and things would look a little better.
Not my concern though, just would be nice to have an official statement released.
on the contrary, sir spacey, this is your concern. you work your butt off promoting the band and put your own money, time, and energy into efforts to furthur the success of this band. among many many many others.
and from what i can assume, the band pays a hefty sum to its management to take care of these "loose ends"..... which are *not* being maintained. period. no arguing about it. (see rocks off boat cruise thread, for example...)
mr. steffens seems to have an awful lot to say here on this board when rumors get tossed around/the band gets in "trouble" at a hotel, etc... but he has yet to respond to all these comments about the lack of care thats being taken in managing the band.
"mister simpson, your silence only incriminates you furthur. no, mister simpson, please, sit down! noooo! mister simpson!!!!!!!!!!!"
-
I just think it would be nice if there was an offical statement on .net. I would like to put something "official" up on myspace and remove Jordan\'s name from current band members.
-
perhaps it\'s a .info exclusive... :chin:
That\'s what I\'m wondering...

Just curious if there has been a press release yet concernign the whole Jordan thing. If not will it be soon, or are we waiting for something? Not trying to ruffle any feathers just curious....
