we were supposed to write the "screenplay" of "forrest gump 2".
I think your essay needs to be posted/ shared. Would make a good read, IMHO!!!
well, this was one of the essay questions on the final, and i stayed up till 6am studying w/ friends before the 9am final so here is what i remember writing in that blue book: (feel free to skip over this post if you dont feel like reading)
so i start my essay w/ forrest somehow meeting reagan (cant remember the specific reason) and forrest regarding him as a "good man" (which in general everyone knows for reagan , is NOT the case but since its forrest and he doesnt know any better...). then we move into bubba gump shrimp making a fortune in the shrimping industry and then gulf war 1 occurs and the cost of oil for the shrimping boats causes bad shrimping and forrest is not pleased w/ bush 1. forrest gets through it and a couple years later is invited/recognized by clinton for his work with poor southern blacks. when he meets clinton, he also meets a certain intern of his. jump ahead a few years later we see forrest invest in a travel website for alabama (this is during the dot com boom). things are going well in the travel industry in alabama, and again forrest is making $. then a tragic day occurs- its 9/11 and the aftermath of 9/11 causes the travel industry to suffer. forrest decides to go on w/ his life. later, the war in iraq occurs and little forrest (who like his dad) enlists in the army. forrest is unhappy about little forrest joining the army b/c he fears for his life. little forrest is everything forrest has in his life and he doesnt want the kid to be taken away just like how bubba died in vietnam. little forrest gets shipped off to iraq and forrest waits nervously in alabama. forrest becomes an anti war activist while his son is away. later, little forrest gets discharged and starts working for the government. he works w/ a few higher ups in the bush administration and uncovers facts that would destroy the entire bush administration. little forrest has the facts leaked to the public and america finally sees what an gigantic idiotic d-bag that bush is, so the entire bush admin is taken down, and little forrest saves america! hoooray!!! the end.
the end of my story would never really happen in real life but that was my only take on how to end the movie on a "positive note".

I watched Forrest Gump on acid several years ago. Since then it\'s been my indisputable #1 favorite movie of all time.
The emotional climax, for me, is the part where Forrest runs across the country several times and grows a long beard... while "Running on Empty" and "Against the Wind" are played in the soundtrack.

this was an awesome movie! The 8th graders @ my school actually watched it as part of a lesson about American History. It follows many historic events accurately throughout the movie - and, yes, I cry @ parts too
forrest gump is a great movie and i watch it all the time when its on tv, how could you not love it? and the fact that it follows american history is even better. last semester i took a US history course that followed 1968 to the present. it was such a sick course that for one of the essays in the final, we were supposed to write the "screenplay" of "forrest gump 2". b/c forrest gump ends in 1984 at the height of the reagan years, we were supposed to include all the important/notable events/people that happened in the last 22 years such as: reagan, george hw bush and the gulf war 1, clinton, OKC bombing, monica lewinsky, the dotcom boom, george w bush, 9/11, and the current iraq war. we were also supposed to pick who would be considered villans and heroes and how forrest would be affected by all of those events/people. it was super fun/interesting to write. how would YOU write forrest gump 2?
I wouldn\'t. I would find out who took the course before me and get the paper. Much like every course I took in college.
