whose pipe did you smoke for that miracle?
HA! Tim\'s.
Actually, I did no pole smoking.
I simply didn\'t want it and it simply came back.

yeah..not bad i guess.
what about yourself? i\'m sure we\'ll catch up at a show this summer.
Simply put, I lucked out and will be in Hampton Sunday night. Using that as a measurement, I am psyched and thank Broseph for aligning the stars.

I don\'t know if I\'d go see a Starship concert in the states or world-wide, but i\'ll definetly check out QMS next time they come around.
That reminds me, I should look out for Hot Tuna too.
Make sure you see the right group with Starship in the title!!
Jefferson Starship is the real deal, with founder members Paul Kantner and David Freiberg and longtime member Donny Baldwin, alongside guys who\'ve been wioth the band a long time. Expect some JS classics including Ride the Tiger, Miracles and Jane, but mainly Airplane material mixed in with some folk stuff off the new album as well as DF doing some Quicksilver stuff.
Starship (featuring Mickey Thomas) is just MT with hired hands - expect the crap that came out in the mid-eighties - We Built this Shitty, Nothing\'s Gonna Stop Us (cashing in) etc. Band doesn\'t even have Craig Chaquico on guitar anymore - he jumped ship just after Grace, meaning there were no "classic" era JS members left except for MT, who was only brought in to replace Marty Balin in the first place.
-
oh ****, this was tons of fun. erik said he saw some tapers, so hopefully we\'ll see this thing surface eventually. at the very least i know the sound guy got a recording of the board. i\'ll post something when it shows up.

rave kid knows where the party\'s at
aint go no job but his wallet is still phat

8/9 - Schleigho - ATMA Rising Fest, Buffalo, NY
Ugh. I got pretty happy when I initially read this...but it\'s $50! I know you\'re friends with some members of the band so do you know if they plan on doing a show Friday night too? My friend from TN is back in town this weekend and used to travel with me all the time to see these guys but $50 is a lot, even if it is a midnight-2am slot. Any additional information would be great, thanks!
they\'ll play a lot later than 2am. NO FRIDAY NIGHT SHOW. this is also with original bass player, drew mccabe, and a special guest appearance by yours truly on a handful of tunes. DEFINITELY the only show they\'ll be playing this summer and possibly the only one for the rest of the year. (although i\'ll bet they\'ll do a weekend in nov or dec.)
How did this turn out? Any tapers on hand?
I really hope they do another 2 night run in upstate this winter. Fortunately, their last 2 little runs had a show in Syracuse each time!

Vassillios is going to rage the Foo Fighters at Red Rocks.
9/8/08

Well, it\'s not very imaginative, but...
07/31 - Jefferson Starship
08/01 - Jefferson Starship (with possibly a Jerry tribute portion of the set)
08/26 - Jeferson Starship (private show and new album listening party)
08/27 - Quicksilver Messenger Service
08/29-31 - Rhythm Festival, Bedford - JS, QMS, Richie Havens, Big Star, Steve Cropper, Zombies, Pretty Things, Man, Geno Washington etc etc
Holy what century are you in batman!
What is the current lineup of starship?
Quicksilver is still touring?
Century? Hell, decent music is timeless!!
UK tour is, I think, Paul Kantner, David Freiberg, Chris Smith (keys), Cathy Richardson (vocals - Diana Mangano has quit touring, as has Prairie Prince) and Tony Morley (British guy) on drums. Slick Aguilar is normally lead guitar, but it\'s Ferenzik, then Pevar for this tour. Marty Balin is an semi-regular member for US tours and a very occasional member elsewhere. They are promoting their new album thsi tour - very acoustic with covers on it by the Weavers and Phil Ochs alongside PK originals - going to be interesting to see how it goes down with folks expecting a psych freakout!
As for QMS, it\'s David Freiberg on acoustic/vocals, Gary Duncan on lead/vocals, Chris Smith, keys, DF\'s wife, Linda Imperial on backing and some lead vocals and the bass player and drums tend to vary - UK will be Tony M on drums, with Ferenzik or Pevar on bass. It\'s hard to believe, but this year will be the first time ever QMS have played in the UK. It would be really cool if DF took up the bass again to allow a second lead guitar like the old days, but he told me last tour it\'s not going to happen.
I actually ment that as a compliment...

I\'m pretty sure there are. Genc\'s, Spacey and I are going on Saturday.

Going to be interesting shows - Slick Aguilar is not travelling abroad this year, so lead guitar duties will be taken by John Ferenzik on the first leg and Jeff Pevar on the second (he will also play bass for QMS).
And don\'t worry, I have every intention of turning up to the second leg shows in a Breakfast tee, with my copy of Real Radio for signing!!!

Guess I got to see music 4/4 nights this weekend.
Thurs - Steely Dan tribute band (free show in a park)
Fri - Orgone, pretty tight Afro-beat/funk
Sat - Steely Dan @ Greek Theater
Sun - bunch of free shows at the North Beach Jazz Fest: New Monsoon, Eddie Gale, On the One.
-
well, i used to go see them when they were playing to smaller crowds than the breakfast plays to (low blow?), so going to see them play their first two records will really bring me back. now they sell out 4 nights at terminal 5 in about 30 seconds, so it\'s kinda different. hopefully this one will attract some of the original C&Cfam. in any event, i\'ll get to see the C&C guys, who i get to hang with maybe a couple times a year at the this point, so that\'s always nice.
-
^^^^sounds **** ser. i heard CandC is ser, but they sound little too hard for me

I was supposed to see The Roots tonight, but the show sold out before we were able to buy tickets.
Looks like we are off to see members of Karl Denson\'s Tiny Universe instead.
is that the garbled 5+ minute dance-party voicemail that i just listened to from midnight PST last ngiht??? :wah:
I got that too! I was about to erase it but then I heard "Who are these guys?" and I knew it was ALZ
 that\'s hilarious! i listened to all 5 minutes of it, even though it sounded like it was recorded underwater, just so i *might* get a hint as to who it was.. got nothing out of it, until afterwards when i looked at my \'received calls\' and saw that it was mr. z.
I decided to have a little fun and left long voicemails to most of the .info people with numbers saved onto my cell phone contact list.
I\'m sure the sound didn\'t translate well via voicemail, but last night was one of the best shows I\'ve ever seen. Almost felt like seeing PB for the first time.
Keep an eye out for Blu Sirkut!!
wow, al z. June 12, 2006. shame on me for not listening until Feb 2008.

-
July 1st...... did i actually miss a Toad\'s show......
-
July 1 2005 is correct. Almost a full year for venue that used to be home for the band.
On the positive, this forced me to leave the friendly confines of Toad\'s and catch them in other venues for the first time ever.
Good to see new places, but all in all I\'m a lazy bastard who resents having to leave New Haven for anything.
-
I can\'t wait for the end of this week. I\'m meeting Al Z at my favorite place, Laguna Beach. Can\'t wait to play basketball on the beachside court with you.
you can take your CA, i personally can\'t freak\'n wait for TOAD\'S!!!!!!!
If I didn\'t have a wedding to attend, I\'d probably find myself boarding a plane for Toad\'s.
Does anyone have an idea how long it has been since the last Breakfast at Toad\'s? July 1, 2005?
2005-03-04 Toads- I BELIEVE

dave- i can see why you say that. it\'s weird that they are placed in the jam catagory b/c theyre not really a jam band, they dont really jam at all, and also they seem to play the same songs every night, maybe switching out 1 or 2 songs, which is lame. they are better headlining a show rather than an opening spot (which i\'ve seen both). i\'m really interested in seeing their sound combining with the boston pops.
-
i gotta say, i\'ve seen/heard enough My Morning Jacket (opening for Pearl Jam) in the past month to hold me over til i\'m dead.. the first night, i thought they were "okay - nothing to write home about", and honestly, it just declined from there.. just not my thing.
-
my morning jacket is a group def worth checking out from louisville, kentucky. i\'m not good with describing music so here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVs6SWuDn_4
and this was them a couple days ago on letterman w/ the boston pops, which (if tickets are still available) i will be seeing them at symphony hall next week:

bummer about the roots but atleast you saw karl denson!

:eek:What?! No BNL? ;)

Hey y\'all. Hope all is groovy. Just thought I\'d let you guys know...
On Wednesday I went to see Nine Inch Nails here in Atlanta. It\'s rare I actually get a night off to go see some music, and NIN is very low on my list of bands to see. My wife wanted to go, so I figured - what the hell. Well, holy shitballs. They put on such an incredible show. The energy of the place was insane. It was so similar in crowd feeling and scope to the old Phish days, it was mind-blowing. The crowd was all mid 20\'s-late 30\'s. Dubious amounts of heady accesories passing through my row. And what a **** light show. Sound was stellar. A 2 broken guitars, 1 busted bass, a competely wrecked guitar stack and 3 microphones thrown out into the crowd. Hell yeah. I haven\'t rocked out that hard in God-knows-when. They are playing in Hartford 6_20_06 @ new england dodge music center. If you have the means - we got 4 pit seats from a scalper for $20 a piece - check this show out.

I plan on making it out to Toads if my gig ends up on time, but I\'d love to see some friendly faces while I\'m visiting. If there is a heady crowd, I promise not to play any over-played, super-cheesy, soccermom-loving covers.
Peace.
Ian

Toby Keith Robyn? you goin to the **** kickin bar first? ;)
 I just might! ;) I\'m only going bc my friend & I went last yr. & after tailgating for the entire day, we ended up getting kicked out before the show even began. I guess it\'s illegal to squat by the fence of the Meadows- who knew? :idunno:
