Thank You!
my pleasure, i had a great time all around and the ride back wasn\'t too bad other than getting suck in traffic at the bridge between NYC and NJ for and hour or so at 2 in the morning.
THAT\'S CAUSE YOU HAD THAT MOE. DISC IN YOUR PLAYER INSTEAD OF TRAFFIC ON THE EIGHTS!! ;)
LINCOLN TUNNEL TO THE WEST SIDE HIGHWAY WORKED WELL FOR ME.
thats a good point. however, we did get to witness the worst sound ever. an 18-wheeler crushing the trunk of a toyota corolla

i yelled loud enough to represent about 25 people or so. :)
another normal night?
-
words spoken from Genc\'s mouth somewhere in the 2nd set when i saw him. "Dude, Colin. Tonight i am officially a moe.ron" couldnt stop laughing after the highfive. good times. fun to stand with everyone for a while. esp during the \'Born To Run\' cover.
stevie was DEFINITELY loving moe.
the people that i was with who had never seen or listened to the breakfast before - no one had anything bad to say.
one was actually fairly impressed and commented on how dark they were and how he\'d love to see them inside of a club or something and not at 5pm in the afternoon in the daylight.
and also mentioned that they blew nmas out of the water.
anyways, i think it was a very positive experience overall. i yelled loud enough to represent about 25 people or so. :)
-
:point: a couple of incoherant posts from a chronically incoherant poster.

Yo Jim ...
Doesn\'t really bother me at all, the world is made of a few billion opinions. I was just surprised that in this instance forks would find negative. I\'m kinda negative on negative...its not very productive.
What i do know is that I feel these gigs will be the bands real acceptance into "The Club"....which is what we have been working on for the past year. By professionally executing thses things the band gains the confidence of both promoters and management so that when the question comes up as to who to put on critical gigs, the band will have the acceptance.
From there things go straight up.
i feel things have been steadily moving up for a while now. it was a great feeling to see the guys up there on the big stage and to have props yelled out a bunch of time throughout the night.
and remember critiques and criticisms help to get an objective all around idea rather than praise and complacency all the time. negative comments lead to a reaction to improve and a feeling that you can do more. if everything was always great the guys could go up there and "fart into the microphones and fans would eat it up"
-
I\'m really surprised there is this much controversy over this date. Band plays a class A venue with two bands that that are both ideal tour partners, and bands that have a higher stature, which makes TBs stature a bit better.
Band gets offstage props from both bands. Hopefully when band plays same town in a couple of weeks the word has spread a bit more.
Whatever the setlist was....I can\'t find a negative here.
"this much controversy"????? you got one person who wasn\'t there who didn\'t like the set list and a couple of incoherant posts from a chronically incoherant poster. let\'s not find contoversy where there is none. my post and spacey\'s were honest reviews of a show that we actually attended. nothing more.

1) as for rujah\'s seemingly contradictory comments, doozie has different meanings for people outside our circle. perhaps he was saying that mooboos>atsd was a great thing.
doo·zy or doo·zie P Pronunciation Key (dz)
n. Slang pl. doo·zies
Something extraordinary or bizarre: “Among the delicious names taken by, or given to, minor political parties in the United States... are these doozies: Quids, Locofocos, Barnburners, Coodies, Hunkies, Bucktails” (Saturday Review).
2) Steffmo, I hear what you\'re saying. sometimes i feel like a lot of people look for something to **** about with anything breakfast related. i think that\'s just the nature of the beast. i\'m glad you are so patient with us. there could be a sold out 3 night headlining breakfast run at madison square garden during which they play tribal > scheme > mooboos > scheme > tribal > buquebus > rufus > buquebus > rufus and i\'m sure there would be some sort of controversy surrounding it on the setlist thread.

- not really a highlight, but fainting in Jim\'s Steaks in the middle of philly at 1 in the morning after pounding cheesesteaks and crashing my head into a radiator,
Ala Hotel New Hampshire. Good to see that some things never change! Take two aspirin and don\'t call me in the morning!!
-
highlights of this night :
- super duper sound
- hearing moe. and NMA give props to the breakfast
- passing out around 400 DVDs with 1,000th show flyers on them during moe.
- watching moe from the side of the stage 10 feet from the drummer with a sea of people out front, was a surreal time.
- my favorite moe. song, Kyle\'s from side of stage
- Vinnie hanging in our dressing room and talking with adrian all night
- someone smearing brownies all over the windshield and driver side mirror on our van ( who would do that ?
- not really a highlight, but fainting in Jim\'s Steaks in the middle of philly at 1 in the morning after pounding cheesesteaks and crashing my head into a radiator, then twitching on the floor to wake up to tim and ron over me asking me if i\'m ok with people freaking out. i didnt know what happened, but had blood gushing down my face and felt pretty awful while all the other people skeetdaddled. weird weird situation
overall the night was amazing. my respect for moe. was rekindled due to the amazing performance, and the fact that they really dig the breakfast. cant\' wait for july 2. later folks !

exactly. And the band was also getting ONSTAGE props from both bands multiple times throughout the night.
although not a lot of peeps were there for the set (even i only caught the tail end of it; 5pm was tough to make) EVERY SINGLE PERSON i distributed dvds to were REALLY psyched to get them. Not a single person said, "eh, no thanks" when i asked them if they wanted a bfast dvd. at one point, i ran out of disks and the girls who would have been next to get them were so disappointed that i had to promise them i\'d get more and go back to find them (which i did, and they were so psyched).
also, someone was flyering for the upcoming khyber show. it was funny, actually. i was with tim and the guy comes up to us and gives us BOTH flyers. awesome.
so...what i think this illustrates is that these sorts of gigs are not only important for people hearing the breakfast play, but also for creating the BUZZ about the band. and in that regard, i definitely think the show was a success.
and the NMAS and moe both absolutely kicked ass. I\'m off to moe Tues night in Central Park. (See ya there, oldnewbie!)

any show with mooboos>attraction is a doozie in my mind.
Personally I can\'t wait to hear Mooboo\'s seque into Attraction. Definitely worth a listen.
:hscratch:
It\'s vintage Rujah, no explanation needed for this nonsense.
-
ya dude... north mississippi is cool , i saw the word at bonnaroo last year and they rocked.... real cool sound
ps. for those that may not be so informed, "the word" consists of the nma plus robert randolph plus medeski
-
Marcial, Cody played Electric Washboard when he sat in during moe. first set. Pretty cool. I really enjoy the big, black bass player. Too huge for the bass, he puts out huge sound.
-
all I was saying was in a 45 minute set how many tunes can they play? still unsure how why some people don\'t like a mooboo\'s.attraction combo.
-
glad to hear the show went relatively well... nice to hear they got some props from the other bands... NMAS are the shiznit. Did Cody break out the electric washboard?

i personally had a great time. though the Breakfast set may not have been the best i have ever seen them perform, it was a good 45 minutes and some beginning technical difficulties cut there time a little. i felt they where well received by the couple hundred that were there early enough to catch it. and i\'m sure the lot heard there set so that’s a plus to. i have some pics from the night i\'ll have up in the next couple days.
I thought Moe was pretty damn good. A little slower than i\'m used to but the grooves they laid down were very danceable and the fans were cool as well and a very cool stage set up. like i told my traveling companions, i would most def. see them next time there in the area.

Ding, ding, ding!!!! Nail= on head!!!!!!

Sound was great. The stage was huge. It was good to see Dobz back spinning the knobz.
-
How was the overall sound??? This was a big stage right?? Was josh running their sound through the board? I would have imagined, that right there is worth it no? I also see nothing but a positive out come.

how long was the band\'s set? i agree with some of the new tunes being playing since they seem to show the level the band is currently performing at, as well as exposing older fans and new ones to these new tunes.
Personally I can\'t wait to hear Mooboo\'s seque into Attraction. Definitely worth a listen.
-
that setlist is top notch. can\'t wait to hear it, all those songs in that order must have had people groovin\' extremely real hard with very little rest time by the looks of it.

But Ser I am w/ you seems like a win win win situation happened.

I agree completely. People dug it and both bands praised the b\'fast greatly which is nice to see them get some of the credit they deserve.

any show with mooboos>attraction is a doozie in my mind.
How do you constitute such a statement? I am no huge fan of Mooboo\'s but it still is an epic tune. While Attraction has poor lyrics the music is really good. Not a great combo but a decent one. A doozie would mean it wasn\'t worth playing because no one is paying attention or cares what is going on.
i think someone on theboard mentioned this a few weeks ago that the Breakfast should not be opening for fellow jam bands and instead perhaps more mainstream bands.
This is just the business the band is in. At this point, they should be opening for any band that has a great solid following. Make friendships and get some leverag in the business. They get the honor of opening for a well off band, take it. Though I can only think of a few "mainstream" bands that the Breakfast could open up for. They are already too fast, furious and funky for a lot of jambands.

judging from this little doozie. i\'d be surprised if the Breakfast were invited back to play moe.down not to mentioned they tend to have different bands each year.
sure there werent thousands there, but it was at 5:00 in the afternoon right after a downpour. considering the guys from moe. watched pretty much all the set, i think it was more about starting a relationship with a bigger band for the future and the shows comming up together and not even close to a doozie. all three bands were great
thanks DerrickW for the ride. nice job kiddo
-
good time with moe. last night and they certainly do know how to party!
-
spacey is right. the set was great. the two openers were solid and well done. attraction was sickness and honey butter worked great as a closer. it left that wanting more feeling. mooboo\'s was, on the other hand, not the right song at the right time. it was well played and the bfam all liked it, but it was still light (sunny) out with a fairly small crowd, all trickling in after a big rainstorm right before the show. it just wasn\'t the right fit. many other choices would have been better IMO. that said, their the band and you gotta love when bands take chances. NMAS and moe. certainly both gave them big props on several occasions. luther dickinson was the best guitar player on that stage last night and his comment was that he\'d been humbled by tim. i\'m sure he was being nice, but it was a very nice thing to say. you all know how i feel about moe., so you have to admit, it takes a lot of confidence to hire TWO bands with better guitar players than yours as openers. with moe., it\'s never been about who\'s the "best". it\'s always been about the team effort and the overall result. gencs said it best last night...."they throw a hell of a party". btw......moe.\'s set was awesome!!!
-
trust me when I say, Mooboo\'s was out of place. It just wasn\'t the right song for the situation. Played well, yes but didn\'t fit the situation. It was played because they were not going to play Buquebus or Rufus and had to come out with a heavy hitter.
The new tunes hit the spot perfectly though. Still a very solid set.
-
i think that\'s a great setlist, given the time constraints. like leith said, open with two catchy but powerful new tunes, drop a serious tune for the meat of the set, kick in a little more power at the end of that and finish it up with the arena rocker honeybutter. they like their new tunes, the new tunes are most indicative of where they\'re at right now as a band, the album is being worked on so introduce folks to those tunes, and hey, at least there wasn\'t a tricky ways, right?! (even though i like it, i know a lot of y\'all think its not worthy)
setlist construction-wise, it looked pretty smart to me.
-
Mooboo\'s was out of place last night. They could of chosen a better tune in that place. Not too many people getting down but a lot of praise coming from moe. and the NMAS.
Decent show nothing special.
-
im confused as to why everytime any little set comes out on .info people praise it no matter what it is really. not to be a downer, but to me, that set looks terrible w/ maybe 1 or 2 high points. i\'m sure they played well, but i feel like they could have chosen better tunes to represent themself at a moe. opener
I can understand your point but in this case I believe the set was well selected.
Surreal Radio>Intension
2 of their strongest new songs that are more mainstream oriented, contain memorable riffs, and have catchy choruses. Kind of perfect to introduce the band to new fans.
Mooboo\'s>ATSD>Honey Butter
Mooboo\'s is one of the most beautiful songs ever written by any band and the segue into ATSD must have caught some people\'s attention and then right into Honey Butter another strong new song w/ a catchy chorus.
-
Too bad every show can\'t be
Rufus > Psygn > Puppetry > Buquebus > Gladys > Son of Simpleton
Well to be honest I usually end up scratching my head a little bit after I see Breakfast\'s festival setlists. And after seeing them play a couple festies it\'s part of the reason I rarely make it out to festivals anymore. But I\'ll be going to NuGroove because I think they\'ll be getting a good time slot so they won\'t have to pick out 45 minutes of material to represent them.... they can play a SER show Stone Church style.
Personally I\'d say Surreal Radio and Intension are both a little young to bust out for a Moe opener.... no doubt these songs will be better in a year or so. Mooboos is an excellent pick though... if the rest of the show was well played (most likely was) that could have tied this short set together to make it very memorable for the audience.
Since I wasn\'t there I\'m just typing out of my arse of course

looks like a solid li\'l set. i hope some heads were there and got enlightened.
-
I: Surreal Radio > Intension, Mooboo\'s Voodoo (Episode 2) > Attraction To Shade Ditty > Honey Butter
Opened for The North Mississippi All-Stars and moe.
Thanks to bezerker for the call!
