Hi Jim, I tought I would share with you what happened to me (twice). This is not meant to freak you out but to offer something to ask your doctor about...I teach Anatomy and Physiology so I may be able to offer some "crack-head" advise...4 years ago I was getting ready for work and all of a sudden I felt this sharp intense pain in my upper left chest. I laid down for a minute and I could hear a "click" everytime my heart beat. I thought maybe I tore a heart valve..I went to the ER and they determined that my lung had collapsed spontaneously. It is a called a spontaneous pneumothorax. It was caused by a "bleb" which is like a grape like bubble that grows on your alveoli (air sac). Mine ruptured open and the air I breathed in would go into my pleural cavity (space the lung is in) pushing my lung down away from its lining causing some **** major pain. They said it was common amoung young, skinny, tall, males. The cat scan will show blebs so maybe mention this to your doctor...the good thing is that they are not cancerous and if you find them, the doctor can do something for you before your lung collapses. When this happened to me I knew NOTHING...that was the scary part..I hope this helps and hope all goes well for you...peace, PJ
:wah: is right!!! So...did that need an operation, or what??? That\'s frickin\' freaky as hell!!!!
Jim....Here\'s to hoping your affliction is FAR less evil than that!!!!
Well this is what they did...both times (it collapssed twice in one month) they rolled me over on my side while quite awake and stuck a tube with a razor blade at the end, about the same diameter as a pencil, and stuck it between my ribs. They moved itaround until they got the air out. They bubble the air through water and when the bubbling stops, then all the external pleural air is out. The first time the doctor said it would heal on its own. It didnt and so after dealing with this tube poking again I went into surgery. They basically glued my lung to my pleural cavity so it can never colapse again. They used to staple your lung but the "glue" is less invasive. I tell you what, I do not wish this pain on anyone...oh wait, I do wish it upon several of my Freshman **** head students..

Remnants of a previous lung infection seems likely after breathing the New York air.

I hope everything turns out okay but in case it doesn\'t, can I have your guitar?:D
Positive thoughts are headed your way.

Did you name it yet? Perhaps Mini Fro??? :duck:
You guys are right. I should have used the apple-duck smiley like Todd instead of the greenteeth guy.
Cobb, hopefully Cori is right and it is a nodule, or some other minor condition. Remnants of a previous lung infection seems likely after breathing the New York air.

I read something on mayoclinic.com and it sounds like lung nodules, which show up as masses on xrays and can be caused by cysts or infections, are pretty common and in most cases are no big deal and require no treatment. Hopefully that is all it is!

fuckin eh Jim. hope its nothing too serious. ASK THEM to test for MERSA (spelt wrong but pronunciation is right). Though I doubt that\'s what it is, but apparantely its a very serious infection (so they told me after it took em 2 months to figure out what it was when I had it) that can do some damage, and none of us here in .info land want that for you. My thoughts are with ya dude, not my prayers though cos I dont pray ;)
