ok, so i\'m stuck in the tomb of raithwall. I keep running around and can\'t find out where to go. Is there a secret room I have to find or something???
It\'s kinda tricky but do not beat the demon wall you first encounter. When it gives you the option to run into the next room do it and fight the wall there w/ the braziers of fire that will slow it down allowing you to wail on it.

The longest was FFIX at roughly 110 hrs. I\'m loving it though. Have fun leith, and don\'t forget there\'s a real world outside Ivalice

OK WOW This game is going to be awesome!!! I got it last night and WOW! I am glad I have no work lined up right now I know that.

I have officially been sucked in.
The game is def in the vein of Final Fantasy, but quite different too. I like the gambit system because it allows your characters to basically think for themselves. you can set up characters to automatically revive KO\'d players, or remove poison ect..... The story so far is a little lacking, has a very star wars prequel kinda feel to it. I just feel like something missing, I haven\'t put my finger on it yet. There certainly doesn\'t seem to eb a threat to existence yet. But in the long run I\'m really not that far into the game yet, I\'ve logged about 35 hrs so far, and usually things dont\' really start coming together until about half way through the game.
The graphics are def amazing, the summons and quickenings (sorta like overdrives from previous games) which are part of the normal gameplay are AMAZING! The battle system does take some getting used to but all in all I think it makes the game move along much quicker. There are no more battle stances after every single battle, only after major bosses. You also dont\' get Gil after every battle but items, that you sell for gil, it changes things up alittle. The liscence board is cool too, it gives any character the ability to do basically anything.
All in all, I\'m def a fan but I can\'t give a final judgment till I\'ve gotten further.

Well how is it? Is the new combat system easy to deal with? Does the gambit sysyem work well? Is the story engaging? Come On what up? Are the graphics killer? They are supposed to be pushing the PS2 to limit on this game graphics wise.
I am playing GUN and GTA:VCS on PSP but want something for the PS2 since I just got done w/ Bully.

ya, came with the demo. I haven\'t started it yet but will soon (actually at the end of crystalis for original nintendo right now). I noticed it was cartoonish but I love the original dragon warrior so I thought I\'d give it a shot, and it was only 20 bucks

I just dont\' like the way the game is set up, and FF spoiled me, I thought the story wasn\'t very good, and I didnt\' want to see what happened to the characters at the end. It was all a little too disney cartoonish for me, but give it a shot and tell me what you think. (did it come with a preveiw of FFXII? cause that\'s def VIII

wow, those screenshots sure look beautiful :)
i was a pretty big fan of the final fantasy franchise for a while (7-10 to be exact, gosh almost 10 years ago!!!), but got a little bored with 10, and gave up half way through.
have the new games gotten into a little more action? it looks great, and i\'ve been looking for a new console game to try :banllama:
been spending a bit too much time playing City of Heroes/City of Villians, gotta get back to my gaming roots :batban:

mandler, i think your Final Fantasy XII thread and my Guitar Hero II thread are on the same level now - we\'re the only ones who give a **** about our respective threads/games. ;)
that said, i\'ll probably be picking up FFXII as well. never played XI, but definitely enjoyed X..

not sure if anyone on here gives a **** (you dont\' have to tell me you don\'t for post padding( oh I"m just bringing it down on myself)) but this comes out at the end of the month (10/31) You can pre-order the collector\'s edition form Gamestop.
Very excited for this game, was not a fan of FFXI, but this goes back to the story focused FF, which to me is what the core of the series is. Just re-started playing FFVII last weekend, what a great fuckin game. I can not find any RPG\'s that live up to the FF series. Have tried a few but I never end up wanting to finish them, get 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through and get really bored. But FF always makes me want to keep playing. (too much sometimes)

Yeah, I don\'t think it came out for the PS1. Plus anybody who would buy those games probably won\'t be selling it, you know being geeks and all :D.

Better get a Super Nintendo, or wait for the revolution and just down load it. I wonder how that will work in the end though. Will they have to pay Squaresoft to use those game again? Probably a lot to work out with that whole thing.

honestly never played FFIII got into the sereies at FFVII, and played everything after that, I\'ll have to get III if it\'s so good

If you\'re going to check out Melee, try the first Smash Bros. for 64, it\'s a bit slower and introduces you to the game dynamics. Melee is so fast and crazy it can give you seizures, much like the Breakfast. It\'s like a fighting game but not at all like one. Tough to explain, easy to enjoy. Plus it\'s more of a nintendo game than a Mario one since Link, DK, Samus and more are in it.
The real fun of the game though is multiplayer. Some of my friends and I wasted many hours of our lives playing that game...

I was wondering if it was going to be Revolution compatible. Not that every Nintendo game isn\'t going to be but I just meant the controller thing. That\'s great news because I can\'t wait to see what that controller can do. Imagine a baseball game where the bat is the controller? What if they put the controller into the old school Nintendo Zapper and made a first person shooter out of it? Man so many possibilities, it really is a revolution, and it will be televised. :D This is going to make people have to get up and play video games, it\'ll be a far less passive activity than it used to be. Not to mention being able to download all the old school Nintendo games on Wifi.
I suppose the powerpad was going in that direction, though who ever really ran on that thing anyway, I would just pount it with my fists. I loved doing the long jump in Track and Field, I would just pound then let go and wait until I went like 500 ft. then hit the powerpad again. New World Record!!!!

didn\'t like VIII, I thought IX was good, really like X haven\'t played X-2, never played XI (was just too much for me),
But Twilight Princess is gonna rock, the Revolution controller makes it so when you swing it Link swings his sword should make things fun. They\'ve been delaying this game for way too long there is still no official release date last I heard it was being released until the fall. Thankfully it will still be a gamecube game, just with revolution capabilities.

Hey we\'re all geeks in our own way aren\'t we? I can\'t wait for Twilight Princess. I think that comes out in June right? I also can\'t wait for the Revolution to come out, that system is going to be sick. I don\'t have a PS2 so I won\'t be able to experience the joy of a new FF, but I agree FFVII was a very good game. Sephiroth rocked!!! Though FFIII is still my personaly fav of the series. I really wasn\'t a big fan of X or X2, I don\'t even remember playing IX, though VIII was good as well. And XI was online and for the CPU right?
Still though being a Ninetendo freak I can\'t wait for the new Zelda, this next game looks to be a monster, and there are cats in it!!!
