Thanks to everyone who signed the petitions!!! For those who don\'t think protesting ever does any good, here\'s one small victory!

The time has come

"NASA Documents, which confirm STS-125 is the HST-SM04 mission (Hubble Space Telescope - Service Mission 04) , show the flight - currently scheduled to launch with Shuttle Discovery, NET (No Earlier Than) April 11, 2008 - has a rescue mission requirement under evaluation.(more)"

Dear Hubble fan and supporter, after the picture perfect flight of Discovery, future seems less cloudy for the Space Telescope (no pun intended).

Well, I\'m involved in a new and important project. Not much time to work with Save The Hubble website. The big thing is that the Hubble SM seems to depend only on the success of the next flight of the Shuttle, Atlantis AND Nasa\'s budget...
So, my friends, let\'s cross our fingers and hope for the best!

i had no clue about that either.....i can\'t somebody didn\'t shoot him yet

i hate that **** as well....but here\'s where i might think of drawing the line. everytime someone on this board talks about casually killing people it really bothers me, but talking about the president getting shot is just plain unacceptable in my book....no matter how big of an **** he may be. i\'m a big defender of your right to say whatever you want, but i don\'t have to like it.

if you look closely, you\'ll notice that the shuttle crashed in 02/2003 and hubble trips were the banned, but bush declaired we would go to mars in 01/04. Why the contradiction 11 months later? It\'s all about the history books. By banning any travel but the station during his presidency, bush saves face with his generation. But, much like jfk, if he proposes going to mars, this will take several + years to come to fruition. Meaning, someone elses presidency. So, when we go, Bush will be seen seen in the same light as jfk with the moon for saying waaaay back in 2004 at the turn of the century that we should start to make plans for sending a manned mission to mars.

Fact: Eventually will go to mars, and bush will get a note in the history books about being the man who had the vision and put it in action years before it ever happened.

Enjoy what we have, the hubble has been declaired scrap iron by the bush administration.

That\'s right, the same guy who wants to put a man on mars (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3381531.stm) decided that after the Columbia blew up in 2003 (http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/02/01/shuttle_exp030201) that it was not safe to do any exploration in space other that go straight up to the international space station and straight back down for fear of loosing another crew during his presidency. As a result, since to get to hubble you\'d have to tangent away from the space station, no shuttles are allowed to go to it. Now, much like in 2001 when the "hubble got it\'s glasses (http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/news-release/releases/2001/h01-185.htm)", the camera needs another upgrade and a simple alteration to fix it\'s projectory (aka keep it in orbit) is needed. But, since, we cannot go to hubble, it will simply fall out of the sky much the same way that Skylab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylab#End_of_Skylab) did back in 1979.

So, thanks to bush, hubble will eventually burn up in our upper atmosphere and fall to earth to same way meteorites do. If you would like to protest this happening, you can sign the USA resident petition (http://www.savethehubble.org/petition.jsp), international petition (http://www.savethehubble.com/petition/) or visit http://www.savethehubble.com/
