I\'ve worked as an editor for the past two years but I\'m starting a new job in a couple of weeks as a consultant.  I\'ll be writing contracts and dealing with legal issues and stuff.  Probably sounds boring to most people, but I love stuff like that.  And it will cut my commute down by fifteen minutes, whoo hooo!

half hour commute each way with the traffic everyday.

:sigh:

i\'d sign up for that in a second...

Or how about my 4-mile, 10-minute ride?

I paid my dues commuting 60 miles each way for a couple years, though you\'re probably not going to trade in the Staven > Stamford routine anytime soon.

20 Minutes door to door and thats with traffic. It spoils you tho. Don\'t think I could do another hour commute each way beit on a train or in a car. I did it long enough and it just wears you out IMHO. thank god for off hour commutes and the abilty to work from home at least 1 day a week if not more. Always working from Home on Sundays (best commute ever)

i don\'t think i ever answered this thread because i had just quit my previous job when it was made. i just started working as an administrative assistant/graphics design person at this huge commercial real estate firm outside of dc. i\'ve been here since monday and i\'m not so sure about the half hour commute each way with the traffic everyday. i went into the bathroom the other day to wash my hands after having a cigarette and heard my boss taking a huge **** (i saw her shoes). i can already tell that the office computer tech guy wants me because he keeps on coming to my desk to give me girl scout cookies and even offered me a box of them.

I had such a blast coming up w/ things to do. Even for the bedridden. I brought in a Sitar player one day and talk about soothing patients quick! I hope you have as much fun as I did.

I do!  I have this lady who comes in and does "Elderly" Yoga with them.  they love it.  Today we just had a Mardi Gras party.  I had fun tossing beads at them.  (No one flashed, thank god)  Now I\'m planning a St. Patty\'s day party.  I ordered these really cool shamrock mugs so I can pass out green beer.  I really think I finally found my calling in this.  It takes alot of patience...but I love every minute of it.

maybe I was deprived? dave, help me out here, i know ya graduated two years before me, but did I miss something along the way?

i think the first time i heard about/learned what a thesis was was in early \'96, which i guess would be my junior year..

of course, i didn\'t learn about it in school.. i learned about it because i was starting to get fanatical about phish and was learning about the whole Trey Gamehendge thesis thing.. :idunno:

First day of work was f-u-n!!!  Class was pretty chill, didnt have to deal with that much just normal restlessness that comes with the job when you\'re a sub.   Thursday should be a challenge though: 2nd Grade!!! All I remember about my 2nd grade teacher is that she was an OLD, OLD black woman who wore a nasty ass wig (the tag would stick out in the back), eat those monstrous bags of popcorn they used to sell at Edwards and spray a **** load of shoddy perfume on all of the girls in the class, forcing the boys to cough in the hallway (so you see its not ALL my fault that I\'m so **** up).

Freespirit. I dont think I could handle the Waste. In fact I\'m sure my honkey ass would get handed to me the second I entered the classroom.

I work HERE (http://flgcorp.com/index2.html) in the "Electronic Prepress" department as a \'Graphic Artist\'. Our company\'s site I do not think has been updated in 5 years, but its the basic info. Basically I work on files for packaging, ranging from vegetable packaging to potato chips to shopping bags. Some of the companies I do work for include Ahold (Stop & Shop, Giant, Tops, Southern Home; all supermarkets), Publix (for those in Florida), Food Lion (now bloom, wherever those are located), Uncle Rays Potato Chips, and various cookie and candy companies (Lindt\'s is the only one I\'ve heard/seen). I also do the packaging for all of the Schick ST series razors, among other companies\' products. I am also a career college student.

I am a working foreman for Hannaford Brothers up here in maine. It is a supermarket company for anyone who is not sure. I manage the shipping and receiving of the distribution center, many many things to do must be able to multitask, but in short I have about 100 people I am in charge of and must have a good flow. Everyday is a challenge, very busy in the summer time.

Not sure if you deal with the frozen veggies, but according to one of my bosses, Hannaford is redesigning all their packaging, meaning I\'m gonna end up with all 70+ veggie items. Does your deparment work with Merco Packaging?

Cat-bird seat? That phrase must\'ve been before my time....
you\'ll get to it in your highschool english classes.

Catbird seat (as it is usually written) usually appears in the fuller form in the catbird seat, meaning to be in an advantageous or prominent position, one of ease and favour. Its first appearance in print was in a famous short story of that title by James Thurber, published in the New Yorker on 14 November 1942:
In the halls, in the elevator, even in his own office, into which she romped now and then like a circus horse, she was constantly shouting these silly questions at him. ?Are you lifting the oxcart out of the ditch? Are you tearing up the pea patch? Are you hollering down the rain barrel? Are you scraping around the bottom of the pickle barrel? Are you sitting in the catbird seat?? It was Joey Hart, one of Mr. Martin?s two assistants, who had explained what the gibberish meant. ?She must be a Dodger fan,? he had said. ?Red Barber announces the Dodger games over the radio and he uses those expressions?picked ?em up down South.? Joey had gone on to explain one or two. ?Tearing up the pea patch? meant going on a rampage; ?sitting in the catbird seat? means sitting pretty, like a batter with three balls and no strikes on him.

I\'d rather look younger than my 25 years. When I\'m 45, I\'ll still be firm and pretty (and a MILF) while all of you are wrinkled and shriveled.

why the assumption that my comment was made in a negative way?  There\'s nothin\' wrong w/ bein\' a young pup... we\'re a youth obsessed nation, and you\'re sitting in the cat-bird seat.

<<<< Currently providing investment performance and analysis for The University of California\'s pension, general endowment and 403B plans.

First job was two years at Mcdonald\'s (hey, it bought my high school/college car).

Best job was five summers as a fuel dock attendant at a Yacht Club.  Sat out in the sun on the water, listened to blasting music, made good money, saw lots of hot chicks/milfs and heard interesting stories from ocean adventurers.

 accountant?  that\'d be so easy!  I wish!  Nope... try again... today I had to break up three fights in the cafeteria (where I was smacked upside my head), spent $20 during lunchbreak so my kids could have some pencils/pens/notebooks, had a conference with a crackhead mom going through rehab, and lost my voice while screaming for peace & quiet from my 108 students ( of course, this is all after 4 hrs. sleep & 2.5 halfyards) :hair: :rip: :banghead:
