my parents cover most of my expenses while im in school, so any money i make goes to chasing funky music

No BJ\'s, and it is not owned by my parents...I just work my ass off and get rewarded for it. I really never thought it was that hard to do? And i have never made a late payment on ANYTHING(credit, cars, loans) so my credit is PERFECT if I want to throw tix on it...if you wanted to do something as bad as I want to see live music...you would make it happen. This is my passion, just as those who travel to Alaska to fish for Salmon or travel to Cali to play Pebble Beach, it is my hobby and there are just things that need to be done.

I mean between gas money, tickets, (or plane tickets), food, hotels etc, how do people afford to do it without **** up their credit, because I can only assume primary income goes towards necessary bills ie rent, car insurance etc....
I just don\'t pay my rent or car insurance until the third or fourth notice comes in the mail... ;) My priorities in life include: music, having fun, and lotsa beer :biggrin:

I am the Wine Mgr at Wine & Liquor Outlet in Orange...I have been with this guy forever and have a great relationship with him, so...I can do whatever I want...but I work ALOT in between trips. The funny thing is all of the older guys kinda live vicariously through me and my stories, so they almost seem excited when i am taking off somewhere.

In 2005 I saw about 20 breakfast shows, 20 rezi shows, 10 random shows at revoltuon hall, 20 random shows in oneonta, 2 mmw shows, victor wooten, a few disco biscuits, a soulive, 3 sam kinninger, a trey show, string cheese, Franti, couple phil shows, Langerado, Bonnaroo, wakarusa, all good, camp bisco, vibes, moe down, a few harvest fests....
I know I am forgetting a lot of stuff as well.

Good timing on your entrance into this discussion Walsh, you are a prime example of someone who gets to lots of shows in a given year. Probably the most versatile too since you seem to be catching lots of bands when they\'re in the region (Buttered Rum, Phil, Disco, Breakfast, Brothers Past, TMN8R Tour ...am I missing any?...).
I think we\'re ready for a new poll: Which .info member hits the most shows (not limited to a single band) in a given year??

First of all you have to have a good paying job and you have to work it so you don\'t have a set amount of days off per year...ooops, I guess I am lucky. Plus going out everynight isn\'t hard if you realize that sleep is overrated and say F-It. Work is going to suck anyway...plus your tolerance gets higher the more you drink. I really don\'t go to anything but shows, so my cash doesn\'t get used for dumb trips to the bar for expensive beer and pool...like they say"Where there\'s a will, there is a way"

Some people have savings accounts for emergencies others for shows I guess.
I\'m pretty sure lots of fans live in their cars since they don\'t make much money and go on tour everynight/drink 15 beers at the expensive bar bottle prices.

It seems like there are lots of PB fans that don\'t have high-paying jobs that attend 8,000 tours per year. Now how do they do it?

I don\'t know man... I guess I\'ll never understand how people do it. When I did Phish tours I didn\'t have any fiscal responsiblites so all my income went towards tour. Now that I\'m older and out of school (jobless as well), I can\'t understand how people finance these trips. Get a job that pays well. That\'s all I can tell you. I mean the only way I was able to fly out for The Breakfast 3x last yr, one being for moe.down, Go to Vegoose and other various shows was exactly that. I got a better paying job. Point Blank. I did overreach myself a bit going to UAC but if my car did not crap out on me I would be pretty solid right now. As it is I now have a new car payment but that\'s cool because now I can take work further from home equaling more $$$. LA does pay better than in SD for people w/ my skills.

i would recomend staying on the strip near the latenight club shows and not camping. thats where th ish goes down. the duo with krasner->soulive was hot as hell at the culture room i think it was called

I went in \'04 and it was a swell time. but now its in a totally different place and twice as long, so it should be even sweller.

Leaving prob thurs mid-day and leaving FL prob mon morn, but it\'s open. I\'m gonna take off wed to wed so whatever. BTW I\'m goin with 3 other people and we\'d prob be looking for someone to contribute towards a rental; mini-van prob

I\'m very much considersing going down to this one. Is any one else thinking about it? I should be able to bring one or more along. Nothing concrete yet but just wanted to put this out there. Line up includes Ben Harper, Keller, Black Crowes, Flaming Lips, G Love, The Meters, Bisco, Umphrey\'s, Burning Spear, and the list goes on and on........
