Wow, 55 posts about a single beer.
It sucks that an interesting beer has to be a seasonal novelty.
Imagine how Steve Gencsarelli would feel if Budweiser was seasonal. He\'d probably have to switch back to Newcastle - poor guy. :violin:
I never did try Blackbeary wheat, though I bought a pack for my dad once.
-
damn.the whole time i couldve sworn it was me..
-
Actually, Bigfoot is a barleywine and comes out in early(~march) spring.
-
Bezerker, I had only hoped it was you all along. You are the one other person who I know who truly appreciates Blackbeary Wheat, and so I\'m glad that it was you who drank it and not someone else, who would/could not appreciate it to its fullest. No harm done. I\'m a happy camper.
-
I designed a brewery for one of my design studios when i was in school. i have a Mr. Brewing kit at home and hope to have my first brew in a couple weeks. I\'m a huge fan of Bigfoot, i think Sierra puts it out. i gave my last one to Freddie at the Family Jam now that\'s a ser brew. and one of the only reasons i look forward to winter.

:yay: GABOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
and then someone swoops down with their evil claws and snatches it out from under you, then you can see why I would be upset.
carla, i am the ass, the evil one, the selfish greedy low life **** who took that last blackbeary wheat. to be 100% honest i just looked at it as hitting the jackpot, and didn\'t even think about drinking it at 9 in the morning. i\'m really sorry i bummed you out, and i feel like scum. i would have made this post days ago if i was at a computer before now. i also would have PM\'d the message but i want everyone to know it was me. i know how much you love that beer and i had no right to take it. like i said i really am sorry, and as soon as blackbeary wheat comes out again i will buy you a whole case to drink right in front of me
-
It definitely felt good to vent my frustrations, and yes, I was rewarded. A friend by the name of Meister miraculously found a lonely 6 pack sitting on the shelf at his local packy store, and purchased it for me. So my BBWheat stash has been revived from 1->0->6! Just had two of those tasty treats last night... it was beautiful.
you got lucky this time bezerker...

update to the beer situation:
after reading this thread, a friend of moebass\'s went out and found the last 6 pack of Blackberry Wheat at a local package store.... so her inventory went from 1, to 0, to 6.
so i guess we can thank you, kind stranger (bezerker) for drinking her last beer, for now she can enjoy that blackberry goodness 6 times this winter... ;)

Don\'t pass out with yer shoes on.
Ya, plenty of lessons learned that night. I think Steve learned how far he could tip a cup before beer spilt on TPalms.
oh tim did get beer poured on him that night
-
did anyone have a good time at well, i guess you could call it timmy tour last week? howd it sound?

Another post in regard to Beer: Newport Storm is making some unique batches, named like hurricanes- the latest is called BRENT. It has 8% alcohol, and it\'s pretty good, if you don\'t mind a sweet, malty taste... just a recommendation to try something different for those out there who get indecisive at the package store.

Hmmm.... all this talk of home brewing makes me thirsty. I know a few people that have made their own beer... I\'m not quite sure why I\'ve never tried it. It seems simple enough. I guess I should probably start soon, since my dream someday is to open a brewhouse. I\'m not studying Microbiology for nothing, right? I\'ve got it all planned out...
Enter my head (at your own risk):
This brewhouse is gonna be saaaweeet. It\'s gonna be the most chill bar you\'ve ever been to. Couches, fireplaces, cozy corners... for whatever. It\'s gonna have a side room with a stage so awesome bands can come play (i.e. the Breakfast) or just open mic nights for the weekdays. There will be a few appetizers on the menu, but the main focus will be on the beer. All different types, to suite anyone and everyone\'s desire. The only problem is making some money to build these dreams and also to figure out where to build this most bodacious place.
Go for it! Back when I was brewing, my dream was to do just this. I was seriously considering enrolling in the Siebel Institute in Chicago. It seemed in the early 90\'s cool microbreweries were opening everywhere. Now many have closed which is very sad. Like I said, you can borrow my stuff if you want to give it a try!

I have several friends with kegerators...makes parties a breeze.
-
You love beer? Make the jump, brew your own. It does not cost that much to get a starter kit and if you enjoy it you can upgrade as you need. Brewing is pretty easy and people who are at your local supply store are usually eager to help out a beginner. There are a lot of recipes around for blackberry wheat beers. Try a couple and modify as needed. You might even be able to find a clone of your favorite.
The Complete Joy Of Home Brewing by Charlie Papazian is an excellent resource.
I have the book and a brewing kit if you want to borrow. Brewing is fun, fun, fun! Just something I don\'t seem to have much time for these days.
-
A man with 2 fridges is a man with his priorities in the right place :)
a man with a kegerator is even better. Visited a friend in Lake Tahoe. He has a refrigerator the size that would make the average frig whimper. He custom made it to hold two quarter kegs, taps on front and all. Needless to say, I was jealous as hell!!!
The house I lived at prior to my current place had a kegerator, bar and a roomate that made delicious homemade beers.
We also had custom bar taps for specific kegs (Sierra Nevada etc.).
-
1 of my cloest frineds brother had a simialr setup in his reg. sized fridge. Held the slender 1/4 barrels (he is a home brewer) witht he tap out the side of the fridge. He has since picked up the kegerator.
cold beer on tap at a moments notice is SER indeed

damn!

ive had parties before where folks walked away with a buncha my ****. so losing a beer isnt really that big a deal.
yeah, i know it wasn\'t worth a lot in monetary terms, but it was my favorite beer!! Do you guys like any seasonal beers? I mean really enjoy them whole-heartedly? If you don\'t, then you can\'t possibly understand my frustration fully.
<--- has about a case and a half of Sam Summer left in the fridge downstairs.. the one with the padlock.. ;)

If you don\'t, then you can\'t possibly understand my frustration fully. I look forward to springtime just to be able to drink Blackbeary Wheats once again. They are only around from May-Aug, so once it\'s gone, it\'s like this emptiness rolls in over the part of my heart that really digs beer. So when you save one in your fridge for a while, and you are waiting for that perfect moment to bust it open and slurp down its berry goodness, and then someone swoops down with their evil claws and snatches it out from under you, then you can see why I would be upset.

hah. now i\'ve never been to your place for late night, but even the effort that you ladies put into ANY latenight ANYWHERE is incredible, and my bfast experiences wouldn\'t be the same without ya. kudos. see you at UAC.

Terry, don\'t worry, there will definitely be more afterparties in the future.
Now THAT\'S what I like to hear!
:disco:
By the way, hearing a girl talk about her love for beer the way you do is just about the sexiest thing in the world.

I know there is no replacement for that one particular beer, and that sucks, but I just wanted to thank all of you that have given Elisa and I some acknowledgement. Thanks. It\'s good to hear that every once in a while.

Lots of love go out to the two heady breakfast girls in the Storrs area. I always try to make sure people know they are appreciated.
We love you guys and all you do for us. Which has certainly been above and beyond over time. I had to play bouncer @ Todd\'s one night so I can be the fridge bouncer if you want....
-
Hey Carla, I\'m sorry somebody took your beer. Unfortunately it goes with the territory of throwing large parties. Trust me, I\'ve thrown a few of these parties. There\'s always a loser at every party who takes random beer from the fridge. They\'re always easy to find though if it\'s craft beers. If someone\'s drinking your brand, just tell them to close their eyes then ask them what beer they\'re drinking. You can then call them out and humiliate them as you wish :)
For every beer-klepto there\'s also a saint, so in the end you come out OK. Remember before the Southbridge show when you guys sent me to make a beer run and to pick up a 30-rack for the general public? I never asked for any money back for it. I think 30 free beers should offset one stolen beer. You guys throw great parties, stick with it!

Leith... nice st.aug sig... always good to see moe. references out and about
Thanx. I had one heck of a time @ Latenite moe. in Vegas. That song really got me this time around thus the sig.
-
the girls have built a solid reputation of taking good care of us,and i appreciate it more than they know.
-
i\'m still bummed i had to drive my friend home after the show so i couldn\'t even hit up the afterhours. hope this didn\'t ruin it so there won\'t be any in the future. i\'ve heard good things about the post-show activities you girls throw. would like to experience one firsthand before they are a thing of the past.
-
well,i dont go into folks refrigerators without permission, but i will take the blame if indeed it was me.
ive had parties before where folks walked away with a buncha my ****.so losing a beer isnt really that big a deal.

so yeah, moral of the story: hire a fridge guard.
Anyone know where I can rent out Cerberus?

one time i threw this rager and we even bought enough liquor and beer for everyone (the party ended up lasting a few days before we ran out). we bought cases and cases of cheap beer for people to drink, which stayed on the back porch (it was winter) and our headie beer stayed in the fridge. well this one dude rolled up to the party who know one knew. i watched him drink most of our heady beers, then later, i realized that his car was still there but he was no where to be found. and neither was my housemate, steve\'s girlfriend. anyway, long story short, we found this kid in steve\'s bed with his girlfriend, so we urged him to run like the devil before we beat him senseless. he took our advice. so yeah, moral of the story: hire a fridge guard.

yo bring me some of that organic cali skunk brahiem!

Too high? Does this mean the green is in again for ya Wah?
If so I will be sure to bring something xtra special for EC > UAC!
-
hey... my intention was not to actually find the ass who drank my beer, but just to warm him/her of bad karma.
-

now excuse me, i\'m off to hug a tree and light a candle and play acoustic guitar and promote world peace or something ;)
thanks so much for the party/hospitality..esp. the hospitality because i took up elisa\'s entire bed for a few hours and made it impossible for anyone else to sleep ;). i\'m sorry to hear about your beer, that sucks..the beer i had my hands on that night was some really super heady budweiser given to me by jigga mcajam. if i ever catch anyone taking someone else\'s beer from now on i am goign to kick their ass right there.
-
can we start a pot on who it actually was that drank the LT?
blackberry wheat???
$10,000 on bezerker ;)
no but seriously... carla im sorry, i might have drunkenly offered up your beers... i bought a 12 pack of sierra nevada for myself and it was gone before i even had one.... i understand that this happens at parties, and it truly frustrates the **** outta me too, but it happens u know?
on the other hand, however, i think people don\'t realize that as students, me and carla don\'t work -- we have NO income. THUS, a simple 12 pack of beer, or treats for you to eat come out of OUR SAVINGS... (personally, mine is in negative numbers)... now i\'m not about to make any of you feel bad, thats not my intention, but i only aim to amplify carla\'s point: think of others, sometimes, before yourself (sometimes, at least). thats what makes our scene so special. people have the capacity to actually do this.
you are all welcome ANYTIME to my home, and if i have something, its in my nature to SHARE... if everyone in the world did this, it would be a much happier place. lets at least try to do so among friends, or as i consider you guys, family.
now excuse me, i\'m off to hug a tree and light a candle and play acoustic guitar and promote world peace or something ;)
-
Brought a whole 30 pack and didn\'t get much of it, goes with the territory...wasn\'t me though, I only drink the yellow beer nowadays...Thanks again for the after party.
-
sorry brah..
-
Too bad I didn\'t like it. Threw almost the whole thing down the drain. Who would make such an awful beer???
 j/k
I wouldn\'t drink any kind of wheat beer!
And also...when you know you\'re going to an afterparty, what\'s so hard about hitting the packy before the show???
-
can we start a pot on who it actually was that drank the LT?
-
too much blackberry in it. too overwhelming...just kidding. that really sucks. i had a Dogfish Head (my fav.) saved up for a while for the same reason and was taken from me and puked back up all while watching it happen. didnt really like the guy who took it from me either. oh well.

I just wanted to throw this out there? so here goes:
Last Sat after the Freakout, Elisa and I graciously opened our apartment to the whole lot of you. I love having you guys over, don?t get me wrong, but there were a few things I wanted to deal with? one in particular. Located in my fridge, nestled snuggly in the back was my very last Blackbeary Wheat beer that I had been saving. You guys might not know this, but Blackbeary Wheat is Long Trail?s seasonal springtime beer, and it just so happens to be my favorite beer. I had one left from a 12-pack I had a while ago, and I was saving that last one for a special occasion. But it just so happens that that very beer I speak of was popped open and guzzled down someone?s throat after the Freakout. I?m sure whomever drank it probably didn?t know how important that beer was to me, but nevertheless I felt the need to discuss my disappointment.
The point of my story is to have some respect for the property of whoever?s house you enter for a party. (Dave knows the meaning of this concept, I?m sure). Understandably, there was a beer shortage that night, but that doesn?t mean that anything and everything is available for your consumption just because I invited you into my home. Almost a whole 12-pack of my beers were skunked on me that night. All the while, I had somewhere to be the next morning, so I was trying to sleep upstairs, which was not an easy task considering the party was going strong all night long. All I?m saying is that in any friendly relationship there needs to be reciprocity. One gift is given in exchange for another. My gift is an open house for you to party at, so next time, bring a few beers or a bite to eat along with you. Don?t expect Elisa and I to provide the housing, the food and the beverages. You may think we are simply sweet girls who provide you with all you need (and that usually is the case), but this is just a phriendly reminder to have a little respect for what we bring to the table.
