great news Leith!! when is the show?
-
Calling spots can be one of the worst gigs but you gotta do what you gotta do. How many shows are you working? The same show night after night gets dull but the LD should have some hilarious jokes about it. "Watch this part where Mick makes a face like he is signing child support checks."
My friend worked steel on the Steel Wheels tour. He said that Mick and Keith were very smart, charming and cool.

Wow, good work Leith! Like Robyn said, don\'t **** up! Not that any of the band is with it enough these days to notice anyhow.
-
F**k the groupies(scuse the pun), I want some of what Keith\'s got;)
-
do you get to "screen" groupies?
-
wow, think about it - if I were in the rolling stones, I\'d actually have a chance to meet leith!
ser though, that\'s great expierience and resume stuff. Congrats man!

Wow. All I can say is that I wish I were a rolling stone. Keith, in particular. His attitude is so raw, so pure, so uninhibited ? which, of course, is reflected in his playing. Gotta love the stones, although I know many on this board don?t, which I will never understand. Have fun with it, leith. And don?t **** up! :)

Nice. Congrats.

so, you\'ll be doing what?
OK I sit next to the Lighting Designer and call spotlights while he calls the show. A show the size of the Stones requires that the LD have either 1 or 2 Board Operators depending on the Consoles and if Catalyst(a video system) is used.
So you have the actual lighting show split into conventional(par cans) and Moving lights.
Now the LD usually runs one of these consoles and calls cues to the other operator i.e. "cue 45 ready? go cue 45" and spotlight calls i.e "spotlight 2. frame 3 on Keith. Ready? Go spot 2" all while running whichever console he is running.
This show is so big I will be the guy saying "spotlight 2. frame 3 on Keith. Ready? Go spot 2".
Congrats, leith! :D
Thanx! :)

You decide when a spot light needs to be on a member of the band?
-
Congrats, leith! :D

Hey man I fought for it. Instead of just being a spotlight operator I get to Call Spot. Whole \'nother thing entirely! Yes I now actually have a REAL chance to meet them as I\'ll be considered not just Local Crew. I just got excited and wanted to share w/ my friends. That\'s all.

Name dropper!! :) Seriously though if it gets you backstage for a beer with Keef, that\'s got to be worth it.

I am pretty stoked. I was unsure if I would get the gig but I did. I will be assisting the Stones LD in calling spotlights during the show. It is a major pain but it\'s the Rolling Stones and no one is bigger. Yeah!!!!!!!!!
