\'Pulse\' DVD chronicles final Pink Floyd tour

By Jonathan Cohen

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Pink Floyd will release the long-awaited DVD for its concert film "Pulse" in Europe on December 5, and in North America the following day.

The project -- handled by EMI in Europe and Columbia Stateside -- was originally released on VHS in 1995 in conjunction with a double-disc CD set of the same name. The film chronicles the band\'s 1994 tour in support of the album "The Division Bell," which turned out to be its last.

The video was taped during a 14-night run at London\'s Earl\'s Court and is highlighted by the first complete performance of the 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon," which can be found on the second disc. The first disc of the DVD features a blend of older hits ("Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2," "Learning To Fly") and material from "The Division Bell" ("Keep Talking," "Take It Back").

Among the bonus features are the back-screen stage projections for such songs as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "High Hopes" and the majority of the "Dark Side of the Moon" material, plus videos for "Learning To Fly" and "Take It Back."

Bonus performances of four "Division Bell" songs are included in the feature "Bootlegging the Bootleggers," while the documentary "Goodbye to Life As We Know It" offers previously unseen off-stage footage of Pink Floyd on the road.

In its original home video form, "Pulse" spent 176 weeks on Billboard\'s Top Music Video chart. The album version debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Personally I dig the new trey album....Thanks Terry....

What would this world be if musicians stop evolving and trying new and different things....

Unfortunately Trey is under a super microscope and most of his fans are jaded music snobs....

He is still, in my opinion, the best out there today....

did you hear this interview?  it drags at some points but for the most part i dug it...

---------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a note that was with the CD I got...

describing the 9/28/05 interview:

Playing the Butter Notes: My Afternoon with Trey

I\'m a Phish fan, a Grateful Dead fan, but more importantly a fan of music. I\'d seen Phish about 25 times over the course of their career - I wouldv\'e seen more but seeing the Dead were always my first priority. I was a bit nervous as I had heard that Trey was a tough interview, and I was told I had him for an hour, so I prepared for the worst.

About 15 minutes before he was supposed to show up I got the call that Trey was in the lobby. I went down to meet him, and he seemed...friendly and sober. We went upstairs to do the interview and he began talking to me about his upcoing tour and starting browsing my CD collection.

"Is this good?" he said, showing me my Sam Roberts CD.

"Yeah, he\'s great - he\'s this Canadian guy who\'s very Beatles influenced", I said.

"I\'m looking for some cover songs for the tour and I\'m not hip to music made, in like, the last 5 years...got any suggestions?"

After a brief discussion about music, I told him that music was my religion, and he said, "me too", and I began breaking out bands I discovered in the last 3 years and playing tracks from them for him. Trey would deconstruct them in his head as he heard them wandering around the room with a big smile on his face playing air guitar - this went on for about a half hour -I wondered if we would ever get to the actual interview, but he kept saying, "play me another one - this is good stuff you\'re giving me."

It seems he liked the Canadian artists right now and joked that he should do an all canadian artist cover set. He then told me he recently went to see The Arcade Fire and loved them.

"Any band that can have you singing along when you first see them has "IT""

I remember the feeling because at my first Phish show I remember singing along to Bounce Around the Room.

He then began a story about Jimi Hendrix, that he was well known for covering songs a mere two days after an album was released. I then turned on the mic and that\'s where we begin with him telling me a story about Jimi covering The Beatles right after the album dropped...
