Thanks for the encouragement guys. I\'m off to my buddy\'s gig...at least I know the owner at the bar, he cancelled my tab last night and told me it was on the house. :) I\'ll still be listening to good music and getting free drinks, even though I\'m bummed about Chicago.

hey kate....don\'t sweat it too much, it sucks ass that you can\'t go when they\'re so close, but if you can\'t make it; you can\'t make it. its as simple as that. Your still a valuable fan for the bfast to have and don\'t let anyone tell you any different. You\'ll make the next one....and though it may not be for a while, it doesn\'t mean its your fault....if the band toured more people like you could get a chance to see them more than once a year, or whatever......
long story short... my point is just cause you can\'t make it to the show, don\'t let your enthusiasm for this band drop, we need people like you getting excited about touring to the midwest and elsewhere.....i know you tried hard to get them to the LBC but if you and others keep trying maybe they will do a more expansive midwest/westcoast tour over the winter or spring, don\'t just take the (not so) easy way out and come to new england for a show....make them come to you!

I\'ve had 3 bad experiences with Amtrak in the last year...no can do.
Mamalaka, I have class on Friday because Purdue blows asscock like that.
Trust me, I\'ve talked to ALL my friends. My cousin goes to UW Madison and said I could stay with him, but none of my friends want to drive 6 hours. I have officially exhausted all possibilities. I almost didn\'t make it to Umphrey\'s last Friday because my ride called me 3 hours before we were supposed to leave and said he had to work. I spent the whole afternoon convincing a friend of mine to go...thank God he did.
Missing TB out here means I\'ll just have to organize a mass road trip to CT next semester...:)

Kate, I\'m going to jump in and support your travels as well. If you have 4 or 5 of you squeezing into a car (small... decent gas mileage) that\'s only 10 bucks a piece. Then I\'m thinking there will be some chill people willing to let ya\'ll crash on their floor (Madison is home to some heady folks) or if there\'s only a two or three of you going I\'ve got a VDUB that sleeps 4. There will be a friend of mine riding up there with me so I guess 2\'s all I can take in.
Just an offer from one fan to another; I know getting to shows can be aggravating at times. Good luck.

I can\'t make it to any other shows...there was a possiblility of going to Madison, but then Groovatron booked the same day at LBC and all my friends decided they would rather walk to a venue and pay a $5 cover than drive 6 hours and spend gas money, have to stay somewhere, etc.

First off I\'m very sorry to hear about your cat, 14 years is quite some time to tie a bond with a kitty; I believe we all share our sorrows with loosing pets. Second of all best of luck on your exam but if you really feel you\'re going to fail it you might as well just skip out and start hitchhiking early :) and if this is out of the question can you make it to one of the other shows? Or did I miss a post about that earlier?

hey, sorry ive been mia. been in CA w/o a computer.
the tonic room ive never been to. on halloween i was at a little bar only a few doors down and ive been to martyrs which is in the area, both times with a couple under-agers that didnt have any problems with fakes. cant tell you first hand how it is getting in but that area is much more laid back than if you are in wrigleyville or spots in lincoln park. if your id is above average i wouldnt sweat it, but i dont want to give you 110% confidence just to see you arguing at the front door. yo9u should be all good though, the place looked pretty small which is usually a plus, theyll want your cover.
btw, im **** PUMPED! 3 shows in 4 days, get ready for lift off.

ive gotten some work done out here.. hung about 30 posters in different record shops and clubs and talked to the store owners about them. gave them all an EPIC sampler too and told em to give it a spin during store hours. this one guy put it on while i was in the store and was floored by Rufus right away, he was like "man i wont need to play this as a favor to you! who the **** play guitar?!?!" a few of the guys asked for handbills so they could hand them out to customers but i dont have any.

you have got to be joking. i\'m starting to wonder if you are finding excuses NOT to go and i don\'t understand because for a while there, it seemed like you loved the band and were dying to see them. you read the anticipation, setlists and reviews on this website all the time, so you may assume that a night with the breakfast in chicago will be a blast. if you don\'t end up going to this show, please do not complain about how you never see the band/how far away you are. who knows if they are going to IN. out of all the the times i have seen them, i have seen them only 1 time in VA, maybe 4-6 times in baltimore over the last year and a half. come on, you\'ve got plenty of college ahead of you, you can have some fun.

Just tell your friend whose car you have, you need to borrow it for a few minutes. Tell them you have to run to the store for some school supplies. Just bring it back by morning, no questions asked. Also, put enough gas in it, so it looks like you only went down the street.

but ser kate, i cannot believe that you would miss the show because you think you will do badly on your test or something. if you study your ass off and finish it up fast, you should head to chicago..otherwise, you could try to make up some uncomfortable excuse-tell your professor you have head lice or an STD. you should go to a show that is so close to you, it would be a shame if you didn\'t..i know it\'s tough to juggle school and fun, but it is possible to manage all of those things and still get good grades. give it a shot before you drive however many hours in the car to ct.

Kate, all understandings if you can\'t make it; sometimes my sarcasm doesn\'t come out well in messages. I was just pulling an idea from the dark... hell; I\'m not even making it to Chicago this run because I\'m too sissy to ask my boss for another day off.
Anyhow, this is my apology if it was taken the wrong way.
On other hand... There\'s still MN, WI, IA and wherever they decide to stop by on the way home... They\'ve already hit Indiana once, perhaps they make it twice. At least four shows will suffice.

Look guys, I\'m doing all that I can. I cannot reschedule my exam unless I have a funeral, medical emergency, or 2 other exams the same day. It\'s my bio exam (my major) and there are 449 other people taking it the same night. My professor isn\'t very sympathetic to excuses, so I\'ll have to take the exam then figure out how the hell I\'m going to talk one of my friends into driving to Chicago at 9 pm.

last time i was at SOB was on tour with this **** band i played in called Ash Return. we hated each other and ended up cancelling some dates to come home early cuz, well, we hated each other (long story) and i drove from orlando to SOB in one shot, no stops. it felt good to finally get out of the van at 4 am and there was a plethora of places for my to buy cheap novelty items and fireworks. although at that point i think i\'d already spent all my money on fireworks. it was still a feeling of accomplishment. i woke up one of the guys and he had no idea about the existence of SOB so the look on his face was priceless.

I can\'t believe that even the "Hats From Around the World" shop was boring. I figured that one would have me trying on hats for hours.

a southern tour would be fuckin sick!!! although they usually play on weeknights when they come down, it would still be a blast. i would love if some CTers or even you goddamn massachusetts/NH folk came down for a run. the weather is a lot more mild through the fall-still in the 70s and i need an excuse to head further south for a change.

First things first: NEVER MISS A SHOW! Second of all: NEVER MISS A TEST! Now in order to abide by both of these rules you\'ll have to use the right side of your brain. Here\'s my suggestion...
Be honest with your teacher and let him know you\'ll be out of town on the 9th. If he asks you why you make up the only excuse that he won\'t question "It\'s kinda personal, but I have a doctors appointment that can\'t be rescheduled." This isn\'t high school; you don\'t need doctor?s notes and parental permission. Now! Inform him that the test is still number one priority for you and see if he will let you take the exam earlier in the day before you leave.

I see the Breakfast is still open from Nov. 13th to Dec. 9th. Does this mean a southern tour might be in the works for this time period, or is this a northern tour only? No hurry - I\'m used to waiting long periods of time between Breakfast shows but is there a general plan for southern shows this year?

I\'m thinking about switching majors (just talked to my parents this weekend), and I\'m in my 3rd semester of college. As much as I love this band, my parents are paying most of my college expenses and I\'m going to put the most effort into getting good grades. If I can work it out with school, fine. If it\'s going to conflict with my study habits or going to class, then I\'ll just have to drive out East whenever I have a free weekend. I know, I\'m the worst TB fan ever, blah blah blah. I\'ve just set some goals and priorities this year, and I plan to stick with them. It\'s NOT like I DON\'T want to go!! In fact, I\'m dying to! I just have to get my **** done beforehand.

thats prefect then. hell, i\'ve been to countless breakfast shows and gotten there around 11 or 1130 and never miss a thing. i don\'t know how y\'all in the midwest roll, but in the northeast, breakfast shows start late and end late.

My exam would be from 7-9 pm. I wouldn\'t even get there until 11 or 11:30. Granted, it WOULD be the perfect way to celebrate nailing an exam, but the trick is actually nailing it. Trust me guys, I\'m doing everything in my power to try and get up there for at least one show.

What a run this is going to be! I\'m smack dab in the middle of it all and will end in my home town on Saturday night. I couldn\'t have asked for better set of dates.
Just a little FYI about the Yacht Club... Since the Greenroom no longer exists this is the next best place to make some noise. Not a huge place or anything, but I guarantee it to be packed and there\'s not one person that winds up at that bar that won\'t rave about TB.

alright well it looks like i have to make a flight change. i was supposed to be in CA from Nov. 3-10, i have no choice but to come back on the 9th. i wouldnt miss TB in Chicago for anything. fuckin $100 charge for a change, pisses me off. basically ill be paying $107 to see the boys rather than $7.

The Lil Ole Opry has old pews covered in mustard-colored velour for seating. They get people like Josh Gracin (American Idol season 2). You\'re not really allowed to stand up. Most of the people that go there are age 50+. No bar, no food allowed inside, no drinks.
Yes, I\'m moving far far away when I graduate. I\'m thinking Santa Barbara or the East Coast sounds nice...

Correction: I was planning on going to Groovatron before I saw the Bfast dates. I thought I wouldn\'t make it to Madison because all my friends had already planned to go to LBC November 11th. I\'m slowly talking them into heading north, though.
Also... what is the deal with this LBC place? Is it the only venue in the state? It\'s kind of expecting a lot to expect the band t book at the one venue that is good for you.

It\'s not that LBC is the only venue in the state. It\'s just that they probably couldn\'t fill a venue like the Music Mill yet (they take people like Kottke/Gordon and Pat McGee Band), and other venues the same size as LBC around the state aren\'t really worth playing. The concert-going dynamic around those other venues isn\'t good enough - there are NO heads around here unless you go to a venue by a large university. I\'ve lived here all my life and I\'m quite familiar with smaller venues in every corner of this godforsaken state. Do you really want to see The Breakfast play a show at a place called the Lil\' Ole Opry in Nashville, Indiana (which is right down the road from towns called GnawBone and Bean Blossom)? A venue where the featured artist is usually a washed-up country music playing hack? A venue that can seat 250 people but doesn\'t have enough room for even 10 people to dance? The only other two venues I could see them playing right now are either Mishawaka Brewing Company by Notre Dame or the Bluebird by Indiana University. I\'m just so stuck on LBC because they\'ve already played here once, had a good experience, and if they were to come BACK, the word would spread faster and would open doors for them in Indy.
I went to LBC last weekend to see an acoustic artist play. There were 300+ people there. Imagine if we could do that for The Breakfast.

I want the band to come to LBC because I could get tons of Purdue students to go if I have enough time to do promo work around campus. It\'s a great venue with a great reputation. It could also open up some awesome opportunities at bigger places in Indianapolis, like the Music Mill (http://www.themusicmillvenue.com/) or Birdy\'s (http://www.birdyslive.com/).

you have been saying how you are dying to see this band again for months. they are already booked for a show 4.5 hours away from you. if they don\'t make it to chicago or in, why not just drive to madison? how often does the breakfast come that close to you anyway?
i have been in the car for 15 hours to see phish (not counting the traffic) getting into IT.
12 hours for a dead show (don\'t get me started on bonnaroo traffic).
5-6 hours on average to see a breakfast show.
if you don\'t have a car on campus, i say borrow one from someone and get to the show.

I\'ve emailed Tim requesting to make it to Sioux Falls, SD as it is just 3 hours SW from Minneapolis on all Interstate and then a straight shot East to U of Wisconsin. There is a great brewery called The Mad Rock Pub (605-275-2739) there that would eat these guys up.

Looks like the boys will finally make it to Minneapolis. I talked to Tim at 10klf and he said that it would be possible to make it there by Fall Tour as well as some WI and IA shows. The Cabooze is a great venue to see bands and they have Sammy Smith Tallboy Bottles. Now if we could just get them to hit Sioux Falls, SD when they get out this direction.

Yo, Gordo...I wouldn\'t worry too much about the Madison show being free...Brothers Past played there last fall on their tour and played a two set monster for free...I think the University has a bunch of these for the students...I wish I could go to Wisco Breakfast.

Well, Groovatron is playing LBC Nov. 11th, and I highly doubt the venue would book 2 larger shows in one weekend (they usually brew and prepare for one show per weekend). Michael Kelsey (http://www.michaelkelsey.com) is playing there the next Friday, so I really hope I\'m not getting skipped :(

WTF!! dude, any idea whats happening around these dates?? im feelin a saturday night Nov. 12th in Chi-Town........ come on mudda fuckas~! im actually getting back from CA on November 10th, ive been sweating MW dates showing up during Nov. 3-10 but this is a great start and a huge relief. if theyre in Madison and Minneapolis they have to (???) hit chicago and hopefully lafayette for a return at the LBC. ****, my heart\'s racing right now.
btw, no doubt will i be in madison for this ****, but whats the deal with the free show? hope its not a super shorty or somethin. minneapoils a possibility.
