and an in depth review of \'06 Biscuits and marveling at the pace that the band has improved with the new drummer. It is unreal what they have done in less than a year. They truly have awoken the RAGIN\' Bisco Fiend in myself, that over the past 2 1/2 years has been lying dormant.

who loves reggae?
John Brown\'s Body - Pressure Points
bought it today, its incredible for roots, dub-style reggae. it sounds like Black Uhuru done right. perfect harmonies, sweet horn fills, definitely infectious dance grooves. im shocked, these dudes are white and they sound like a true jamaican import. theyre playing in Utica on Sep. 9, y\'all should check them out. i bet their **** is awesome live, they\'re an eight piece i think with live horns. ill find out in a couple weeks with a Milwaukee>Chicago two-nighter.

Afro Funk Explosion. It\'s a compilation of AfroBeat groups available at http://www.dustygroove.com which is the greatest website of all time. AlZ was kind enough to supply me with a copy.
Before that, Detroit Experiment.
I picked up Afro Funk for $4.95.
I actually listened to the Detroit Experiment yesterday on the way to work.
-
definitly a good choice
-
bela fleck and the flecktones - "Live Art"
:)
After some token probability calculations and regression analysis, I am 98% certain that Live Art is the album I have listened to most in my life.

ha, its all good my man. that whole show is really good though, anytime you got BB, Theme From The Bottom, Taste all in a row on a cd its gotta be sick.. and the energy from that whole Euro tour is great.
-
Giving it a listen now...a truely solid peak indeed. the solo is really great and the whole thing is real tight until bout 20-30 secs before the end and trey flubs it! 1997-8-10 has a pretty nice outro but the solo leading up to it is no where near is nice as the hamburg version....donno man, sorry i couldn\'t be of more help.
-
im not at home but im almost positive this is one of the shows where trey **** up the outro in BB.. im pretty sure i have this show. i have slip stitch but yeah you should listen to the last minute or so of Billy, i swear i remember him flubbing what was leading up to a solid peak.
-
1997-03-01 Hamburg Germany. Its the show that is edited down to make slip stich and pass. Really tight show all around, each song is played to perfection.
03-01-97 Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany
1: Cities, Oh Kee Pa Ceremony, Down With Disease, Weigh, Beauty Of My Dreams, Wolfman\'s Brother-> Jesus Just Left Chicago-> Reba, Hello My Baby, Possum
2: Carini, Dinner and a Movie, Mike\'s Song*-> Lawn Boy**-> Weekapaug Groove#, The Mango Song, Billy Breathes, Theme From The Bottom
E: Taste, Sweet Adeline
Excerpts of this show comprise Phish\'s second live release, "Slip Stitch and Pass". *With Arabic jam; with "The End," "Be Careful With That Axe, Eugene," and "Peace Frog" teases. **With Mike (bass) solo. #With "Can\'t You Hear Me Knockin\'" tease.
just looked it up and found the torrent dl for ya....i really suggest it

oh wait, so does uber mean good? I missunderstood the context. I thought it was an insult :P
I\'m a diehard rush fan. I own all of their albums, cd and what I could find on vinyl.
Urban Dictionary: Term with literal meaning of "above" in German. Brought to the mainstream in the early 80\'s by **** American punk band, the Dead Kennedys when using the term in the anti-Californian government song "California Uber Alles", which is a take off the German motto of "Deustchland Uber Alles", which translates to "Germany above all." The term was picked up in their native California stomping grounds by the typical surfers and "punks" and extended from there to many teenagers, the majority of which use the term online.

Gotta agree - early Rush was awesome. Always felt they lost the plot after Power Windows.
As for me, listening currently to Jorma Kaukonen & David Bromberg at The Chance 1987 - two masters of fingerstyle acoustic playing.

I mean like all the worst things about white snake and foriener but played by uber skilled players. say white snake played by rush.
Dear god. Rush is in no way \'uber players\'.

pert = uber!
and i\'m not even a fan
I agree Neil Pert, Geddy Lee monster players or "uber players" (sorry I don\'t know exactly what that means, is it the same as ser?)
I too am not trying to start an argument but I grew up on Rush back in the day......monster players!

Yankee Foxtrot Hotel is such a badass album- it may leave me feeling a little strange inside, but damn it is just the goodness.
i just got that album a few months ago and its been in heavy rotation because i havent really gotten anything new since. i love the songs and the production of the record. it doesnt really sound like anything else i have. i wasnt really into it at first, but it seems to get better every time i listen to it.

my recordings of Pencilgrass and the John Mc Arthy band (with Jordan) from earlier this evening!!
Pencilgrass was as good as always. high energy! fun in the afternoon this was the earliest I\'ve ever seen them. They had trouble keeping it clean enough for the mixed crowd of 5-9 year olds with 45-90 year olds... it was kinda weird. How often do you go out and say "I\'m 30 and no one here is my age" usually I feel so average.
The band Jordan was playing with was very... uh... talented? I wasn\'t to impressed, at first... It was all very good. well writen songs and all but it wa just so... \'82 hair band. I mean like all the worst things about white snake and foriener but played by uber skilled players. say white snake played by rush.
A couple of the jams were really great. the organ solo in the second or third song was interplanetary!! Then we got sissy strut and it really started toget interesting. At this point I thought they were done and started to break down my recording rig. Boy was I wrong. They break down to bass and drums. And the bass player solo\'s with a great effects rig for quite a while (kinda jfjo style).
After that they all started to come back on. It sounded like they were gonna play one or two at most more songs at that point but I had to break down cause of a fussy 3 year old (some things really are more important) so I didn\'t get the whole thing but I got the best (and the worst) of it. I hope to get it out there within a week or so.
Kris
Oh Sweet! I think I talked to you down there? I asked if you knew of anyone that was recording so I could let everyone else hear it.
Huh...anyways ya that place was a little skeched because there were people from all over town, just not like a group of kids, or people just seeing the band.
I\'m in west haven if you want me to swing by and get a copy I can distro...?

Which Roots? I just got Tipping Point (well, acquired illegally)
Since you\'re into Del, are you a fan of Casual or The Souls of Mischief?
Been listening to "Do You want More".....Yea I\'m into the whole Hieroglyphics crew. Been listening to them since 98 when I was in 8th grade. Your out there on thieir home turf, thats pretty cool.
I dig some of the old acid-rap songs of Casual and have been listening to them since \'94. East Oakland (the stomping grounds of the Souls of Mischief) is one of most dangerous places, though it\'s only a few miles away from me. I have a friend living over there and have to drive through that part of town when picking him up for trips to the b-ball court. Even the second floor windows have bars on them.
There was a show in S.F. a couple weeks ago that featured Heiroglyphics, Del, Casual, Souls of Mischief, and a few other names.
