Let me reply to it first!
HA!

What are you talking about?
Do you understand what I meant by Ignorance Is Bliss?

honestly dude, i thought about scrolling by when i saw the length but come on, i have much respect Spaceman. ha! i enjoy hearing perspectives on the big picture. people get really confused when they \'debate\' this subject with me in person, b/c i agree and disagree so often and so well (on both sides) that it takes them awhile to realize im just arguing with myself. ive been caught reading the Bible and the Da Vinci Code in the same afternoon.
Totally understand. There are some good points and some bad points to every arguement. How am I suppose to know if you never argue your point/perspective. Not saying what I was saying was right, it is just a different perspective to ponder. Isn\'t that why we are alive, to learn?

Thats funny, cep I usally don\'t debate anything, cause I get confused not knowing what side of the issue I\'m on.

The question wasn\'t asked to you, Mr. Ant-Man, if that is your real name. I asked Gordo, he is not a spam poster like yourself.
-
Gordo - You didn\'t waste your time reading that entire post did you?
Well I know I did.
-
Your college degree is finally starting to pay off. :)
Lets not beat the horse to death on this. :point: I\'m glad to see your space ship got off the ground ok. :)
and yes spacey, i have entertained the fact that people could have created the image of God, entertained it over and over and over and over and over and over... but hey, today i watched a pretty crazy special on recent exorcisms. :disco:
nothing wrong with crazy specials, exorcisms are grand :)

Have you ever entertained the fact that the purpose of religion and an almighty being was to divided and conquer through fear? or the fact that early beings had a belief that something greater then them had created lightening or rain, that their ignorance was summed up by the mad creation of an almighty being. That in early history of earth that tribes would conquer one another in the name of something. That the weakness to not comprehend has given the possibility that the creator was made up?
Some where, some how and in some way a vast space was created and from that universes and galaxies were formed and out of that people, places and things. Some people consider this and act of God. To a certain extent we will be able to tell our true origins, the less will forever be unexplained.
FWIW, Scientists say Earth and the galaxy it is in is on a crash course with another galaxy, in 5-6 million years we will collade. Then reform as a new galaxy and planet. However, in a google years, the earth will be sucked into a black hole in the century of the universe, whats interesting about black holes is that the eat these massive cosmic planets and galaxy and then rid of them out the other side of the black hole, 1 gram at a time, cosmic dust (biblical belief that all things return to dust). Science tend to believethe future is what matters and historians tend to believe you need the past to understand the future.
So, my long winded point is, Nothing really matters in the end, we all return to nothing.

y\'all dont know jack ****.
I concur.
------------
We are all going to ask questions in our head, the smart ones just come up with the equations to figure out the variables. But right now as it stands there are way to many variables for me to be stuck on one side of the issue. Honestly the world/earth is way to sophisticated for a human brain to figure every aspect of every living creature, of the geological aspect of it all, of everything in general, and there you have super-natural.
Look at the big bang, someone was def on acid when coming up with that one. :)
Uhh I don\'t know.
-
y\'all dont know jack ****. nobody really does. ive gone back and forth too many times in this debate of the supernatural vs. the mathematical, or however you want to put it. even with myself, i always find the other side proving to me that nothing can really be proven. all i know is that if God exists, and he is the creator of all, then how can you argue against the idea that he created the universe in ways that are mathematical/quantum physical just to test humans and their trust in Him? personally, i dont believe in there being a single creator or the above question being truth.. but ill still give the idea a chance because i know that i know nothing.
-
perhaps. i am not really sure whats going on with the movie right now. all i know is that i dont have nearly enough footage. by the way, the special treat i promised for the last latenight is just about ready. ill have it with me tomorrow if latenight happens.
-
Fitzy.....does filming resume tomorrow????

"like that time I was supposed to go see Mr. T at the mall, and I kept saying I will go a little later, and then a little later, and when I finally went the guy at the mall said he had already left, and when I asked him if he was coming back, he said he didnt know....."

good movie for all you who want a quantum physics lesson for dummies. "What the "bleep" do we know". Now personally I never cared about quantum physics but that is one entertaining movie, really makes ya think about what is really going on around you......maybe a little too much.
-
upon reading the title of this thread and its originatior and then seeing last post by billychags....i for sure expected some sort of deep space homer thing going on....but i get a quantum physics lesson from jimcobb..... :wtf: classic banana by mama...i was laughing my ass off as well.......
anywho.....
"In Rod We Trust"
-
LOL, yeah, I\'m looking for a definitive book on quantum physics.
do they make a quantum physics for dummies?
-
if you are searching for the definitives of quantum physics, then you need look no further than the book by A.C. Weisbecker called Cosmic Banditos.
-
how do you explain an inappropriate outburst of laughter when sitting in a small room of people you only kinda know when you\'re supposed to be working?
Bill: "well this kid Jim Cobb was droppin\' some ser quantum physics knowledge and Mamalakablabbabuka responded with a banana..."
just doesn\'t translate well off the board
You tell them that you were thinking to yourself. I use to do the samething in school. Usually laughing at something that happened the night before.

work... work..... hold on..... i used to know what that means..... i guess i\'d better get a dictionary.....
*gets dictionary*
nah, definitly over my head.
-
:sadban:
that just made me lol.... problem, I\'m working in a small room w/ 4 other people... check that, I "should be working", but i\'m surfing .info.
i\'m working in a cubicle i built in the hallway with a bookcase at my office because i had to move my desk away from the seriously crazy person i used to share an office with--i do about 15-20mins of actual work every day

we\'re about to enter a whole new level of understanding the universe. its quite exciting. we\'ve already begun to discover the neuro-biology of spiritual experiences!
-
supernatural does not exist, it only applies to things we have yet to grasp
-
If you want to believe in the essence of the supernatural, go right ahead, you can believe what you want and have the right to.
However,
IMO, EVERYTHING has an explaination and can be explained. Math is the language of science. There are very few things that can\'t be explained and that is because we don\'t understand them yet.
Maybe, Quantum Physics is a tough concept to grasp (I was excused from Physics in High School, because it bored me) but still the truth is out there. I for one do not believe in the supernatural as a power.
:sadban:

We ALL should be working. You have come to the right place.

math is the only language that can even BEGIN to explain space, bro.
-
I\'ll I\'m trying to say is don\'t try to make space a math equation, it\'s super-natural, leave it at that.
-
hey what did quantum physics ever do to you?
-
Quantum Physics
F that.
-
dont look at me like that.

what really blows my mind is how the physical is all very explainable, the big bang, and the organization of matter advancing and evolving to eventually create humans, but what i just can for the life of me grasp is our awareness and consciousness. like... what is that observer inside of me that is aware of all the functions my brain is carrying out? what is my soul? where was it before Jim Cobb was born and where will it be after i die? ?i know my mind (not my brain) is a powerful thing that is capable of things beyond what i know it to be capable of. i know my mind is part of something larger than physical existence... i know there is part of my brain that undergoes the most work at any given time and that is the part that convinces my consciousness that there is some sort of disctinction between me and not-me. if the brain needs to work so furiously to convince me that i am a different entity from everything around me (necessary for survival and self orientation), it might make sense that in actuality i am not a different entity from everything else around me and that the belief that i am seperate only facilitates my physical existence... hmmmm.....
-
Quantum Physics has made some serious advancements in the last few years. I await to see the results of the Deep Impact, hopefully, not like the Mars mission where the returning capsule plummeted into earth.
-
It\'s supernatural that\'s why it blows your mind. :)
-
quantum physics is beginning to unveil some of those mysteries and is bridging the gap between science and spirituality.
-
I care about a deeper understanding of the universe.
Like, where is space? They say it is infinitie but where does that put us. It is really a trippy subject when you really begin to think about the depth and unstability and what we don\'t know that happens out there.
-
well its just too bad that our space program is geared towards finding natural resources to exploit to we can continue our lavish, materialistic lifestyle. i mean who cares about a deeper understanding of the universe we live in when we could make MONEY off of it?
effing republicans

Woke up this morning in time for the launch of the Space Shuttle, the first in nearly 2 1/2 years. It was great to see that the shuttle successfully launched this time around. What happened last time was terrible and hopefully will never happen again.
(https://thebreakfast.info/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nasa.gov%2Fimages%2Fcontent%2F122979main_launch.jpg&hash=65f5426e2a74f3b9952de14ab54f8061dae99b40)
http://www.nasa.gov has some interesting images/videos of the space exploration.
It is possible that they launch this shuttle into the air, flys out of site and orbits around the upper part of the atmosphere until it comes down at night in Area 51, where they shoot video of the "moon" and relay it on TV.
Anything is possible.
