I just want to say that every time I look at the picture of that kitten I melt into my chair and am stuck there until someone comes along and mops me up.

When I was over the house last week, the kitten jumped up next to me, Matt turned and saw and said "Hey, you want a cat?" :P

a large green tree python could definitely eat a kitty, but it would have to be a small one... newborn perhaps... eyes not open yet...

clarification: I have never tried this

Well, all I know is the green tree pythons i have seen are small. Most ball pythons are also pretty little and I don\'t see them eating anything much bigger than a mouse.

joc, i hate to say it, but i think that anything having to do with the word PYTHON would eat a kitten. as long as you aren\'t letting it run around the house (i am not a snake person and don\'t know how these things work) i don\'t think it should be an issue.

Oh no.... Marcial do green tree pythons even get big enough to eat kittens? I\'ve only seen them when they are small.

Every time I look at the picture of that kitten I think about how tasty it would be to one of Marcial\'s adult snakes.  Mmm....kitty veal.

Marcial\'s babies will eat Melanie\'s babies.

The yellow one with the red spots looks amazing.

Yes a baby but not a tiny hatchling or anything.... it\'s only a foot long or so and still eating very small rat pups... my local reptile guy bred him. Will post a pic at some point.

Oh... also got a new Beardy since my old feller passed... this one\'s much more handsome... citrus coloring...

Edit: upon looking again, it\'s definitely longer than a foot. still small though, at his thickest he\'s about as big around as my thumb.

Nice!  Those are really cool... their irridescence out in the sun is amazing (hence the name).  Is it a baby?

Marcial - Impressive site. I had no idea to the extent that you were involved with. I especially like the snake name Tony Montana. All the snakes are in the basement of your home, wow!

Paul, the snake business is doing well.  This year, I hatched 25 babies fathered by my possible heterozygous for albino male.... currently there are only 2 albinos of this species known to exist and are valued @ over $50K.  Since albinism in snakes is a simple mendellian recessive gene (you probably learned about it in school with the punet square), I will need to breed him to a female gene carrier to hatch any albinos myself... I am still a few years away from being able to do that (until the babies I just hatched are old enough to breed), but it is an exciting possibility nonetheless.  The site is in the process of being updated, but here\'s the link:

Spaceman: Don\'t know why, but I have been into them since I was about 5 years old.  Once I graduated from college, I decided to take it from strictly a hobby to something that I could make a nice side income from.

Melanie: Sorry for hijacking your thread!

I think I was just surprised to actually see snakes hatching from eggs. It\'s one of those nature moments that you take for granted.

What is your fascination with snakes? (serious Q)

I have never seen such a thing before.

Yes.  A few species are live-bearers, but most reptiles hatch from eggs.

brought the kids to a friend from high school\'s parents annual bbq yesterday.

his mama was a wild cat, the offspring of a feral kitty who apparently mated with a siamese as she looks pure siamese; she was born last yr.  there were 3 in her litter this yr.  another friend took 2 and I took this one.  they\'re just too pretty to live in a dirty old garage!  fortunately, a cousin of the family has taken it upon herself to trap and neuter all she can for $57apiece at TEAM.  she\'s already got 9 of them and the reamining ones remain elusive.  She\'s really hoping to catch the mama this yr.

anyway, the kids at the picnic named him Moose because he is about twice the size of his littermates.  Kiana named him flower and matt likes "Bruce".  So right now his name is Moose-Flower-Bruce.
