Brood Parasitism...nature can be so cruel sometimes.
There is a bunch of stuff on the web about it.

My guess is that it is a juvenile cowbird.

Perhaps the original bird arrived early and just set up shop fro the both of them. The 2nd bird got side tracked on the fly north and just took its sweet time finding its significant other
:)

i don\'t think that this is normal for birds..i think it\'s just supposed to be the mama bird sitting on the nest, the one on the left looks a little strange...
i don\'t know a lot about birds but you could always call the aspca or something and ask them about it..maybe the one on the left is the reason there aren\'t any eggs/babies?
-
the one on the right looks like a mature dove... the one on the left looks to be a juvenile of a different species.

They look pretty happy to me!

i dont know, do you think its normal for there to be 2 of them? to be honest he\'s more worried about them than i am ;)
-
if they seem to be getting along then whats the problem?
-
the one on the right made the nest. the one on the left is the invader. they seem to be different bird species.

anyone know anything about birds? we have a problem- 1 bird built a nest 2-3 months ago and has been sitting in it ever since. (yes, shes alive). thing is now there are 2 birds sitting in the nest! there aren\'t any chirpy noises so I dont think anything has hatched. is it possible mama bird is being ousted?
what kind of birds could they be?
