My last Phish show was 6/20/04, the second night of SPAC. I am very glad to have ended it on such a good note. ( as opposed to a flubbed one) Still pissed I wasn\'t at those Cafe Nine shows.. now that is the real deal right there.
I got to the lot the second night in MA. GOOD night

Coventry shouldn\'t have ever happened, imo. Way to much hype to live up due to the nature of the situation. They probably should have played out thier "summer tour" and called it quits afterwards. Well i know having run lighting on a large scale that when it takes all you got to stay on task because all you are thinking is"this is sooo wrong, this sucks", it would be a **** to have a good show. That\'s just the lighting guy bro! Think of the other 3 Phish members that HAD to be thinking the same thing and you\'ll see where I\'m coming from
Oh and any collective decision made by Phish had to be approved by Trey. LOL
-
but come on man, they announced the show almost 3 months before that, i know it was traumatic for everyone but if they werent willing they shouldnt have called for the show in the first place. it still had to be a collective decision as a band to have a festival like last show in their home state, **** it sounded huge immediately, shouldve been huge. but whatever, i gotta stop doing this it just gets me too worked up. i know, theyre just people too.
-
You rather they pulled up stakes and not played at all? Come on now. I know you may be upset but it was stressful on not just the phans but all of them even Chris.
-
those shows were the thanks we got?!
-
Well from reading Kuroda\'s interview it was plain to me the band was in dissarray. This was a very TRAUMATIC event brought on by a single member of the band. The rest of the band was in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM READY OR EVEN WILLING to play a GREAT show for anyone no less themselves. Any band under those circumstances to even attempt to continue was admirable enough. The only REASON they PLAYED AT ALL was because YOU and thouands of other Phans walked in through all sorts of BS. and this is the thanks they get?

I find it funny that they would not have even played the shows if all those people did not WALK MILES to the site. In those circumstances the band was not really in the shape to play having so many things going down as they were. I\'m surprised @ the amount of GOOD music that came out of Coventry to tell the truth.
i just dont get it leith.. if the people had to walk miles and the band arrived next to the stage via helicopter, bus, whatever, how was the band not in shape to play?? bottom line is they were on stage with two options-- go balls out for their final show or dont, they chose not to. im not calling phish a bunch of **** in general so im not looking for you to keep defending them in general, but for that weekend it still doesnt make sense to me for them to not throw down or put more effort into the show. ill never understand, LAST SHOW, felt like a pretty random couple of shows to me. this debate will go on forever, were you there leith? cuz if not, i think you should stop arguing. that weekend was hell compared to any other festival ive ever been to.. walked through ankle-deep mud/poop (literally) all weekend just to be able to get something to eat, or ****, or see them play music. and then it just felt like, "what the **** was all the effort put forth for?" we paid, we trekked, they got paid, and pampered.

best glide ever.confirmed

BUT, they **** it all up with a short and shitty Phinal set, and terrible encore. i was definitely expecting huge things that third set, why the **** wouldnt you. Fast Enough made sense to open it and then a goddamn piper or 7 below and **** simple, ARE YOU SER!?!? horseshit. horseshit. horseshit. but now looking back, at least we got those first 2 sets that were definitely good, whole first night sucked ass. yeah, that stash was a joke, along with the worst guyute ever.
Are these common feelings among Phish fans or is there a higher concentration of annoyed people on .info? I understand that it\'s hard for you guys to stomach bad Phish when the Breakfast are throwing down flawless, raging shows on a continual basis. Would non-Breakfast Phish fans feel the same way? I really wouldn\'t know; .info is the source of most of my jamband info. Would never have heard the term Wook if it wasn\'t played out on here.

The irony of it all is, the phans made the band what it was and the phans destroyed the band as it was."
The MUSIC made the band and the MUSIC destroyed the band, thats all. and oh yeah, my opinion on the music at Coventry:
Set 1 of Day 2 was pretty fuckin good. Reba outro was great (i got choked up for sure, even shed a tear), Chalkdust & Possum were fun/pretty good versions, 1st Taste i ever got and was psyched, love that tune.
Set 2 of Day 2 was smokin, i thought. DWD may not have been tight, but the war was insane and at least trey played with a couple glowsticks for about 10 minutes, that **** was awesome, tons of energy. Wading was the only time that really felt emotional all weekend, need it. Split Open > Ghost by far the musical highlight of Coventry. even if some thought there were sloppy moments in Ghost, i can specifically remember moments where the funk was hittin hard and trey was actually plugged in, it shook me for sure. and the "orange biscuit" glowstick war just added to the fun.

first set of the second night was sick........especially the tight reba

You negative phuckers, for all that Phish did for us in their existence, you don\'t even give them the respect they deserve. Sure they may have played shitty but professional or not, it was a difficult weekend for all those involved. The irony of it all is, the phans made the band what it was and the phans destroyed the band as it was. Too much criticism, until any of us have the courage to attempt playing in front of people, we have no right to criticize Trey for playing like ****. It is all speculation that he was too **** up to play, we don\'t know them personally and can\'t say, "oh, Trey ripped the eight ball before he went on stage". Coventry wasn\'t the best show they played but it was their last and it was tough. What was everyone expecting a Fluffhead encore? I mean really, who thought this? I DID!
Honestly, I will be the first to rip them apart for their performance at Coventry. They still have done things for the jam scene that have revolutionized the way we all experience concerts.
I end if with this comment "Who Cares?"

Ha, Stash is playing now, and Trey is flubbing it royally. Tim could smoke his ass on this one!
 Tim could smoke trey\'s ass on most of Coventry, unfortunately (for phish, but fortunately, i suppose, for tim ;) )... i am realizing now why i haven\'t really even had the desire to hear this show... this is the first time i\'ve listened to it since i was there... glad i didnt pay to download it :P
-
I downloaded the two nights and after listening to the first half of the first set deleted the entire show. it just ruined everything i was expecting. 97-2000 is all i can really get into anymore.

I almost threw up when they played simple.
-
they ripped up split open and melt but the rest of that set was very very sloppy
definitely was messy -- i think Disease was that set too, i thought it was tight and enjoyed the glowstick war and that jam very much so... most of the weekend was sloppy ( i almost *CRIED* when they attempted Glide)... but it was an experience, nonetheless -- glad i went :D

Split Open And Melt or Scent Of A Mule?

... aweosme, glad i caught this... any idea when/if they\'re gonna play the second night? that fifth set changed my life (best SOAM i\'ve ever seen!!)
