Wow dave that would be all you would hit up...I am fairly interested in this fest now that these bands are there.
MMW
tND, John Brown\'s Body, RAQ, Railroad Earth, Rafter Bats, DEL MCOURY BAND, Jazz Mando, David Gans(good stories)
Although I will be at CB4 fairly close to this so I doubt I will go. 10k Lakes anyone??
Or I might do the 4 NE Big Summer Classic gigs(really can\'t wait to go back to Coney Island again. NY->Phila->Greatwoods->The WASTE...like a sore dick, can\'t beat it.

I personally like AOD a lot and have never seen a show I would consider boring. But the singer / song writer type band like they are can be very mellow at times. I ususally catch a rocking show and the AOD fans are usually rather rowdy.
DSO headling is stupid IMHO. I guess I will have a lot more time to party this year than last. I refuse to run my rig for them. I didnt last year either. I LOVE peter rowen and he was awesome with the masters of bluegrass last year. He is an amazing story teller.
There are a few bands on that list I will check out but most I have seen several times already
-
i missed at least half the bfast show there last year because someone told me it didnt start till two am and I believed them and went back out and partied till 2ish
-
i could see dbb & mmw and sleep in my tent the rest of the weekend and be perfectly happy.
now all\'s we need is some b\'fast..
-
i hope assembly of crust is not headlining....ser snooze fest...rezi opened for them and they were pissed because rezi got the place rocking hard then assembly can on and was super down beat and boooooring.

DSO sux
really? why?
Just my opinion. If I want to relive dead shows thats what my music collection is for. They offer me nothing. I would rather listen to Jerry play on a recording then have some person trying to imitate him. Where is the musical value in that ? They play the shows as they were played. they dont offer there own take on the tunes or interhject anyhting as artists. IMHO it is the same as playing a recording and having a bunch of people on stage lipsyncing

I love The Grateful Dead. I really do. When I was 14 I transposed the entire Dead Anthology book into Eb so I could play my saxophone along with Dead CD\'s. But I am sick of all this Dead cover band and side project nonsense. Enough is enough. It really bothers me every time some Dead knockoff that is milking limited talent by playing Dead tunes gets a big slot over a current jamband that is taking the music to the next level. I think these Dead bands have a place at festivals because The Grateful Dead paved the way for all of this and there are still lots of Deadheads out there who eat the stuff up. But that place is NOT headlining festivals. If Ratdog were playing at 3PM I wouldn\'t have a problem with it. However, there are too many smaller bands who are touring their asses off who need that slot to give it to bands that are already rich and don\'t need to try. The Grateful Dead had 20 years as the exclusive jamband in America, I think that\'s quite enough headliners for one band.
Wolfman when the Breakfast can start selling tickets then they will get the respect they deserve. All of these bands touring their asses off lack a few big things and the biggest is DRAW. The Breakfast can draw a decent crowd in some areas but more times than not the shows are not packed. Same goes for most of the "Jambands" in this tier. It is simple economics. Ratdog will draw a crowd larger than most of the bands and they wont cost that much money.
Also the bands do it to themselves. For a perfectly good example lets look at Memorial Day weekend. The breakfast plays Friday Night in upstate, saturdau a festival in upstate, sunday a festival in Mass. So in 1 weekend the band plays 3 shows and 2 festivals. Which is good and bad. The breakfast fans are gonna be fractionalized all over. Folks might not be at the friday night show because they are at kampitheatre or stranngecreek. Folks who do Friday night might not want to kick down $30 to go to the show the next day or whatever $ on sunday. So it is good for exposure but bad for draw.
It is also a HUGE problem that alot of the festivals have Identical lineups. So just like the above there is little incentive to go to 1 festival over another.
Now Ratdog and the GD family bands dont do very many festivals at all. Phil & friends at vibes is the only 1 I can think of prior to Bonnaroo. So it does have some value that way.
I completely understand if people genuinely dont like the band and I get that but to say they aren\'t a headliner is crazy IMHO. They just sold out 2 or 3 nights at the Beacon last week. What Jambands can do that ? Phil, ABB, Panic ?

i have enjoyed the shows i have seen. deffinitly like what they do better than \'the dead\' aka warren wank fest

I wish they would have Vibes in BPT again that was something else. Good to see they got some Dead relations going again after last years travesty.
