Title: Talk about Spring Tour!
Post by: sumobaby on March 01, 2005, 06:50:21 pm
hey now people the breakfast is good music and is enjoyed on many different levels. it is not only about how many shows you see or where they play, but the sound they make! these guys are uber talanted and compairing them to another band is apples and oranges, it is a matter of personal opinion. mybe you need to see a band on the regular to enjoy, if so i suggest looking through all of the local or national touring acts.but i enjoy the breakfast daily in my car or when i party. that is the great thing about the recording. to me that is enough till they come through town once more. i live in riverside county so there is no bands coming through my town any time soon that is why i drive to L.A. orS.D. to see shows and i am thankfull when a kick ass band like the breakfast comes through.

yeah  yeah. So hey WHAT abt this Spring Tour?
Hopefully turnout will be good and the guys will get all jacked up and push their booking agent to book shows out West to capitalize on the album which will be shooting up the charts w/ a bullet!
If the last couple mini-tours I have been on are even a slice of litmus, they have nothing but GREAT things in their future. Psyched to see soooooo many new folks totally digging their ****!!!! As far as the shakey shore...late summer>fall will bring grand things ;)

Dude you are truly laughable. Like I give a damn you r not alone in not liking me. ooooh so what? Who the **** r u? Do everyone a favor and keep your hatred to yourself maybe it will fester and you can drive your Element off a cliff in self loathing.

Isn\'t this a msg board, used to discuss pointts about the Breakfast?  My personal feelings about you don\'t effect the band at all, and I said nothing to "hurt" this band EVER!  All I was saying is that The Breakfast should continue on at the venues they are at until they sell each one out regularly, so they get word out to other areas about crowd size(i.e. sell outs) that they are experiencing.

Second of all, when did I ever say that I knew more about "touring" than Gordon.  I merely stated that I do not whole-heartedly believe that selling out a venue the size of the Sommerville Theatre, should be the goal of a band before they go on tour nationally.

It\'s refreshing to know that you would think of sabotaging the band in order to prove your "headiness" to me.  "OOh I\'m Leith, I know the guys who run Baja Bash."   PFFFFT!!!

My point in saying that was that I have gone out of my way for this band and when the grassroots team fell apart I kept up my end and promoted the HELL out of this band. When **** like you get on my ass for no reason other than to be an ****, I get put out.

You seem to want this band to make it so why would you consistently **** with one of their Biggest supporters out here? HUH?

Yes Walsh every time you decide to post **** abt me, I take it that you do not want me to be a fan of The Breakfast and thus not promote them and I believe that can hurt the band as I may be one person but as some folk from this board that have met me know my excitement for The Breakfast is very palatable and contagious. I spread Breakfast discs on other boards and pass them out @ shows. I think all this HELPS the band. Am I wrong?

As for your knowing more abt touring than Gordon, the way you post makes it seem that you feel you know more. Maybe you should think out your posts b4 going off it may help make you look like less of an ass.

I don\'t care how many posts I put up in a row...Until the Breakfast can sell out venues in their home region on a regular basis(and this is coming from a friend who loves this band and its members), no one should be waiting for an increase in venue size on any coast!!!

You\'re an ass. Waiting for an increase in venue size is something a real fan of a band waits for and looks forward too. You are an idiot!!

Leith...you are a f\'ing tool.  Mike Gordon has been quoted as saying that a band that cannot sell out the Sommerville Theatre should not tour nationally yet...I do not believe that...but if you are losing interest in the Breakfast bc they aren\'t hitting the west coast(considering their tour hasn\'t started)...never mind you\'re not even worth my time...GO ON UMPHREY\'S TOUR...PLEASE!

Walsh u prove to me everytime you post a response to my posts what an absolute idiot you are.

You react as if I hate this band and you do not even realize the damage you do when you attack this band\'s fans. OK maybe I will go on UM tour and will not put my efforts into promoting The Breakfast.

How about I ask the Baja Bash people to skip asking The Breakfast to play"just to change things up?" How about I NOT flyer this time around and NOT get people excited abt them coming(when they do). Will that make u happy? **** You!

You Walsh are the total tool. You get off attacking me and I love how you show an utter disregard for other people\'s opinions. I must be worth your time because you keep attacking me. Hey u **** put me on your IGNORE list and SHUT THE **** UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and Mike Gordon knows more about touring than you\'ll ever know. You are such a waste of space  Walsh get in your Element and drive off a cliff !

Take a listen to this past NYE show. UM rocks for sure. I came around awhile ago to them and have been soaking them in. There is a reason their main message board has 3000 members.

I will keep an open mind.

No Particle is from Los Angeles. It is a seperate entity all it\'s own. ;)

The fans of Particle seem to like The Breakfast since, well they shred!  Now this is not a headier than thou thing but I\'ve been going to Winston\'s since it opened and imo the crowd that goes to Winston\'s often is drastically different than the crowd that goes to Particle. Particle fans in general go ballistic from the 1st note of a Particle show to the last note even if the band is playing like ****!! It really is more of a blind faith thing with Particle fans while the crowd frequenting Winston\'s in general take some coaxing to get dancing. It is nice seeing Winston\'s packed but The Breakfast needs to move up to The Belly-Up just for the visibility factor it would bring (better venue, Top names play The B-Up etc.).

i have seen alot of shows at winstons in OB and there is not allways a crowd like the last breakfast show so the word must be gettin around. and i dissagree about the energy level in cali. Particle is from cali and the energy at there shows dose not stop and thepeople dance there asses off. the word should spread after those good shows they put on in 04. however the sceen in cali seems to change one week to the next. but we are due for some killer shows out here you can only see dead cover bands so many times before you need somthin fast and loud. actualy i saw a awsome new band at winstons opening for cubensis called bad shoe high energy killer jams improv and fusion check them out, there out of arazona i think

I am seeing them in May for 5 shows and can not wait. They have gotten better in the last year and really put on a good show. They have their OWN lighting rig and give audiences a full show. They have learned show dynamics and have a full command of the stage. They will def. be one of the next bands to "make it" I have no doubt.

I\'m now a part of the West Coast lack-of-Breakfast dilemma as well, though i did get to see the band a couple dozen times since the fall.

I\'m hoping they will be here for a serious tour after the honeymoon.  I will be saving my vacation days for a west coast run once i get a job out here.

I\'m hoping we can find innovative ways to spread the music from coast-to-coast then around the world after we conquer the U.S.  We all spend so much time thinking about this band and imagining their potential so we should also challenge ourselves to spread the music (many of us already do it in one form or another) even farther than we do now.

Still though, you gotta look at it from a business perspective.  Lets face it, the band plays as many shows as they possibly can, and thats just to get by,  Hopefully w/ Real Radio coming out and the impending tour, they can start to build a little more bank so that ventures out west are a little more feasible.  I\'m sure driving all the way to California to play a run of shows at small bars makes them enough money to barely even get back to the East Coast.  I\'d be hoping that they can make it out to this years Bash or High Sierra or something, so that they would have more a reason to do more shows out that way.

Worse comes to worse, you could always move to Staven.  I\'m sure Freddie will let you stay at his place for a bit until you can get on your feet over here.

The Breakfast has seen their fanbase grow tenfold since they began playing out here. The problem is really the style of music. The main reason I get for people not lovin\' them vs liking them is they are balls to the wall Rock! Alot of folk out here are as many know a bit more laid back and the energy EXUDED @ a Breakfast show is on a level all it\'s own. I hear more and more "I like them but they need to learn how to slow it down sometimes". I agree some of the newer material lends to this and hopefully RR will take off and some of these people will "get" it.  Yeah I see what you mean abt moe. but that is a totally different story. moe. plays the style of music alot of west coast people dig which is not as hard edged as The Breakfast but rockin\' nonetheless. Either way I\'ve discussed the move to bigger venues out here  w/ Jordan and Tim and we basically agreed it will be awhile before they do so as selling out the venues they do play needs to happen a few more times. I know personally the last Breakfast show I attended sans fest was a sold out show in Santa Monica and three nights before was sold out in O.B. From 15 people my first show in O.B. \'03 to sold out a year later is heartening but you gotta consider their fantastic performances @ Baja Bash for the SoCal love for sure.  So you see the foundation IS there for them to blow up and thus my frustration that they have not played out here since Baja Bash. I just see missed opportunities and where else am I gonna vent them ?

well then, it sucks, but you just gotta suck it up and hope for the best.  its up to us to promote these guys so they can get as popular as they deserve to be.  UM can lick my ballsack,  the Breakfast deserve to be the next big thing as much as any band out there, IMO.  Hopefully, if all goes well w/ the Real Radio release tour, heads will start turning and there will be people ready and waiting for them to hit up the West Coast.

FYI, the first time moe. played California they sold out the Great American Music Hall.  So clearly, there are heads out there who know what good music is, even though they\'ve never seen whatever band it may be first hand.  If and when the Breakfast do go out there, there should be as many heads amped and psyched for the bands voyage out there, and if the turnout is well, then the more likely they will be to go out there more often.

Patience is a crappy song by Gun\'s and Roses and I got no use for It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But Ser, I know, I know It\'s just that for the past 2-3 yrs\' there has been some regularity to The Breakfast\'s tours out here. Due to the infrequency of them out here and the increasing frequency of other bands coming out here it is very VERY hard for this fan to keep interest in The Breakfast @ a decent level. What w/ UM blowing people away out here (opening for Stockholm Syndrome and then Phil) or the increased push by TLG and ALO for So Cal fans and moe.\'s increasing (rapidly))fansbase The Breakfast are falling far behind. Even for me with the love I do have for them find it harder and harder to stay excited about a band I will only be able to see maybe 2/3 times this year. Flying out to the East is something that I dread I may have to do if I want more Breakfast. I\'ll tell you this, the farthest east I saw Phish was Phoenix. I saw GD on the least coast a total of 14 times in 10 years. As you can see following this pattern, it\'s not likely I will be making many east coast Breakfast shows. Yeah my fault but for THEIR fanbase growth in general I think they are making a mistake, though I guess  Weddings change many a plan every day anyway so I can understand.

Oh yeah and 8 of those east coast shows I was stationed out in Portsmouth while in the Navy so I was out there not by choice.

There is a gap of 20 days at the end of May/beginning of June, as well as NOT ONE FRICKIN\' DATE after June 18th mentioned, oh ye of little faith.  You live on the Left Coast, they live in Connecticut.  You finance the private jet and they\'ll fly there more often.
