Title: Music played over the pa in clubs, etc...

this is why you never hear happy birthday sung in restaurants any more....they sing some made up version to patrons on their birthday or they would have to pay. seems kind of silly in some cases.

I worked in a restuarant for 5 years that played music and i know that we were were paying royalties the whole time. The back of most cd cases say the music cannot be broadcast, played at a public event, etc. If you want to do that you have always needed a license. I dont think its that expensive to get though.

The Webster must owe Fagen and Becker several million dollars, because they play "Aja" in between opening bands at every Breakfast show.
