That\'s weird because i found those numbers somewhere on the Middle East\'s website.  110 definitely sounded too low anyhow when i read the page.

Yeah I had a couple of friends turned away... Got 4 in through the back, but still... always a bummer to have first-timers turned away. Doubtless leaves a bad taste in their mouths. It was certainly packed in there. Although, at the point when they were saying it was capacity, I thik they safely could certainly have gotten a few more in. Also, from what I heard, they weren\'t letting more people in as people left to go home, which is kind of a bummer.

In 1975, the storefront next door was acquired and the two rooms connected to create what is now called the Upstairs. That same year, live music at the Middle East was born. After dinner came belly dancing, jazz, latin, and funk.

Music at the Middle East took a serious turn when rock impresarios began renting the 200-capacity Upstairs and booking top talent to play there. This innovation forced the dining room into its present Massachusetts Avenue address.

Capacity: Upstairs: 110; Downstairs: 575

Big difference between the two rooms.

No wonder the show sold out.

hey ted just replied to you check your e-mail glad to help you out,
actually I had to change dat tapes they are only two hour tapes, thought I may have time in between an encore, I was wrong , and when I listened to it today I only missed about a min and a half
Title: I think I met at the show last night and I am hungry for this breakfast\'s show
Post by: tedbond on January 15, 2005, 08:49:33 pm
I went to my first breakfast show last night and was overwhelmed. I heard of the band through jambase when they changed their name and then was reminded of their existence in relix. Their response was warmly enthusiastic and recomended to check them out. So I traveld into the middle east and was blown away which I am sure is their routine. Would love a copy of the show; I think I talked breifly after the show. You said that it was missing 3 minutes due changing tapes but no worries to have any of this stellar show would satisfy my hunger. I assume you use analog because of the changing the tapes which I love! Digital recordings are clever representations of sound but they loose information from the wave and analog is like having the music give you a big hug (I love vinyl too). Let\'s work something out at your convenience and I will check out your music from the tribe describe website. thank you so much for taping the show!
peace
ted

hey just got back from boston about an hour ago. I could not go to sleep after my 2 1/2 hour ride home, not too bad of a drive. Well worth it, Boy do I love these guys!! Anyway I taped the show anyone want it, just e-mail me. I will be glad to give it to anyone. I was surprised to see I was the only one there with a rig. Josh was trying out his new gear to tape the show and mix the aud. with the board but the cd burner would not work so he took it down. Hope to see some people in maine!!!!

Couldn\'t have said it better myself.  So many times I\'ve rushed to get to the Living Room at about 11:30, only to find out the band doesn\'t end up starting \'til 12, and I gotta deal w/ the last 15 minutes of the opening band consisting of 4 high school kids who\'ve played together a half a dozen or so times.  Nothing ever changes....

At the last minute, looking frazzled from rushing and concerned that I missed everything. But finding that I indeed have enough time to down a few beers before burning holes in the soles of my shoes.

I *think* this is right. You may want to double check because I come off of 93 southbound.

Off I-90, I think you want to take the Cambridge exit and head towards Central Square (Cambridge.) (The exit might also be for Brighton? If my memory serves me right... When I lived in MA I went off of the pike. It def. says Cambridge though.)

Then you\'re going to go over the river (via the bridge) and take River St which takes you to Central Sq.

Turn right onto Mass Ave.

The venue should be shortly after you turn on to Mass Ave. I believe the parking garage is just before it, possibly on the right. There are signs for parking that point you towards the garage.

I was thinking more of the ease of hoping the red-line in from alwife, but will consider parking if it is the easier option.

What are the basic directions to parking coming east-bound on the pike?

My questions are:
What are the chances the show will be over by the time the trains stop?
Second, the MiddleEast says its closest T-stop is Center Square, but the nearest bus stop is Harvard Square...what is the realative distance between those to stops?

Is anyone else taking public transit?

Well you could actually drink quite cheaply on the boat if you wanted to. A friend bought a bottle of Ketel one and a bottle of Tanqueray for a smashing total of $30.... Duty Free shop!

I myself was stupid and drank microbrews and expensive mixed drinks the whole time. However, it\'s really not THAT bad considering all the food is free. I think I gained a coupla pounds- 24 hr free pizzeria = bad news.

I went on a cruise a few years ago and bought all rum and beer on the islands and had to sneak it back onto the ship.  Cruise ships love to monopolize alcohol on the ship (where else can you get it other than the bars on board?).  I remember hearing people say that they had alcohol charges in excess of $1000 for the week.  It must be those stupid drink specials they peddle in an empty pineapple shell.

Hope you all enjoy the Middle East.  I wish I could tune into the show from my plane.  I will bring some Breakfast to CA for the weekend.

Palmer is kind of a craphole of an old mill town.  I\'m impressed that there is a place in town that is booking The Breakfast.  I need to check the calendar to see if I\'ll be around for that one.

I guess Eastern MA shows rare these days.  Western Mass is the equivalent of me driving to New Haven, though I went to school in Amherst so it\'s nice to visit when Breakfast is in town.

I work within a mile or two of the venue but will not be attending. I will be on a plane headed for Oakland while the band is jamming.  Maybe I will request that Jetblue captures the show so I can watch it live from my seat.

I would be there otherwise.

I have been driving to Connecticut every weekend for the past couple months and I\'m annoyed that I have to miss an infrequent MA show.
