I\'d offer it to you if I had it. I never bought the live release, nor downloaded the show, I didn\'t see the reason to. There are many better shows out there, but I think if you were there the energy blew you away. I think it was a bit like Coventry, if you weren\'t there you just can\'t understand, and unfotunately I had to miss the show.
Anyways, I could offer you a b+p or a trade if your interested for some DMB stuff.

i\'ve always thought dmb was a shitty band

9/24/03 was CP.
DMB put on a free show in conjunction with AOL for raising money for schools of NYC on the Great Lawn.
-
What is this Central Park show? Date???
-
Hmm well people may not like me for it, but I am a very big DMB fan. Actually my favorite band, and without them I would have never gotten into all of the music I got into. But thats a long story...
The fact is, if this is true, it is the bus drivers fault, no DMB member was in the bus at the time, and none of them ordered or even would allow something like this to happen.
And I have been touched by DMB, believe it or not thier music has helped me through some troubled times, as well as a lot of other music, but they have been the main band in my life the past few years.
-
That is the thing with DMB. Their fanbase gets into them right around end of highshool/beginning of college, and then they grow out of it......
The fans are always these 17-22 year old kids, because the band doesnt care to grow with the fans. And once the kids move onto other musical interests, there is a new crop of Rookies that move into the scene, perpetuating riots, ****, and other stupid meathead things.....
-
There\'s enough of them as it is. Besides I never said it was ez, dmb consists of some top notch musicians who know what sells. Their original fans for the most part have grown up and may not relate to songs written for a younger crowd who only know pop dmb. Perfect example Everyday and the album it was supposed to be. Kids loved Everyday and the song itself is as simple as it gets even I know that and I can\'t play a lick(well I can play a couple but you understand),while older fans liked the other album much more due to being less poppy and more introspective as past albums.
-
If writing "trite pop songs" was as easy as you make it out to be, don\'t you think there would be alot more poppy rock star millionaires??
-
No problem Steve. All in a days work.
-
Pitch, your sarcasim just **** my monitor......
thanks jerk!
-
To be fair to Dave Matthews Band, "I Did It" is probably the best song in the history of music
-
I don\'t know how "touched" soused college guys trying to p/u chicks get or even if they get anything from the music. I do know that dmb has for me changed from a wonderful blend of non conventional instrumentation in improv rock playing lyrically profound songs to a band that has given in to the easy road of making trite pop albums and replaying them in concert for people who know nothing of dmb\'s jam past and those that do yearning for older songs because they may jam those. I am not looking forward to working tonight\'s show as i am pretty sure iI am going to be bored off my ass but @ least they aren\'t crappy musicians. I\'ll give them that.
-
Yep, I guess so.... those guys used to travel the country in an old beat-up van to play shows... now, they travel the GLOBE on the band jet to play shows.
Also, not to be argumentative (yeah right), but I guarantee their music has "touched" more people now than it ever would have had they not "sold out". Different people, granted, but definitely way more.
-
If I could truly play an instrument or sing as well as any of those millionaires I would choose my music in a new york second. Being able to play music that truly mattered to me and actually moved people towards more peaceful action or touched them to their soul is WAAAAAAAAY more important to me personally than any amount of $$$$. I have given up better paying jobs on principle for jobs @ less pay but more satisfying to my conscience. I am just saying that dmb was doing just fine not toeing the company line and it\'s fine they sold out. It\'s their choice to give up improvisation except for "special events" and it\'s my choice to no longer give them my $$$ and to give it to musicians still willing to risk their reputation on the unknown jam. Peck mentioned that dmb jammed @ the Central Park concert, now there is orchestrated jamming and "seat of the pants" jamming. I prefer the latter and any jamming i have seen dmb do lately has been the former and i can only expect such until I see it. So we disagree yet again Marcial .lol

Exactly. Which would you rather be? Me personally, I would take jam challanged millionaire any day of the week.

There is something to be said for "selling out" but they could have done it w/o sacrificing their musical integrity. Like Marcial wrote they were a completely different band and he is right they were a Band now they are a group of millionaires who get together and play pop songs.
-
I saw them a few times back in \'93 - \'94... they were a completely different band.... but now they are laughing all the way to the bank. I say good for them... they would have been fools to not "sell out".
-
I remember seeing them open for Phish on the 1994 fall tour. They were insane. Jamming like crazy! True case of rockstaritis.
-
If it\'s still available, check out Remember Two Things. It was a live recording from 1993.
-
Could not have said it better myself!!! I first saw DMB on the side stage of the Horde tour in I think 1993 or 1994 before anyone knew him. He and his band absolutely blew me away. Sickening to see what pop stardom will do to a band.
-
Maybe i should try to check out some of their earlier stuff then. I\'ve tried a couple of recent albums and spent hours downloading the 4cd Elements set from STG, but have not been impressed.
-
I for one LOVE DMB up to 1997-98. It is at this point when they abandoned jamming for "songs". This is what I think of when i think sell out. Focusing on songs w/ little to no jamming is fine for album work but in the live environment which FUCKIN\' MADE dmb,it is not. Changing this live setting that used to be vibrant and spontaneous, forsaking their fans for pop songs($$$$$) has brought them the disgust thrown toward them.
-
:) At last!!! I\'ve finally found some people who don\'t like DMB - never thought I\'d live to see the day. Have tried for a year or so to try to get into dmb due to having suffered his jamming with trey and john popper, but I find his voice really irritating - pitch hit it right on the head.
-
I\'m not sure if he actually had anyone on the bus. He might have been returning to the hotel from the venue to pick up more people or something. I think that all it takes to release the waste is a flick of the switch on the dashboard. Typically you make sure that a disposal hose is attached before you do that though!
and yes it is easy to hate on Dave

Yeah I guess you may be right; perhaps the band is not responsible. But, they must have been aware of what he was doing? (I hope they weren\'t though, because then there is no excusing them.)
-
lotta Dave haters out there......
-
I don\'t blame DMB. It is the bus driver\'s responsibility to manage all aspects of the bus, I\'m sure he was just trying to save some time and skim the money for the dumping fee he would have had to pay.
Too bad he didn\'t dump the crap that was riding inside the bus in the river as well.
-
Wow now that is funny. Makes me angry too though, that "rock star" attitude of "we can do whatever the hell we want." I guess it\'s been going on for a long time though....
That\'s freakin disgusting.

HA LOL!!!
Pitchy that is classic ****.....

Nothing new here. Dave Matthews Band has been defecating in peoples ears for years. And it\'s hardly solid stool.

first off Dont Drink The Water aint too bad of a tune......
"Dont drink the water......Theres pooh in the water"
-
:hscratch: How many gallons does a bus hold? 800 pounds would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 90-100 gallons of waste????
Also, was the bus driver singing "Don\'t drink the water"??...or whatever that crappy song is.
-
I can see it now, once the people figure out it was from DMB...
EBAY: for sale, Dave Matthews Poop!
-
I laughed so hard when I read that earlier this morning. Chitown is now Shittown for those poor people.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/25/bus.waste.ap/index.html
The state of Illinois sued the Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for allegedly dumping up to 800 pounds of liquid human waste from a bus....dousing a tour boat filled with passengers
