I apologize for inciting drama with my little 1st amendment rant. Although it does reflect my belief, I realize it could easily be taken as flame-bait.
I was actually only slightly peeved the other thread got deleted because I took a good bit of time writing some thoughtful posts and spent a few hours researching viable bulletin board solutions.
Anything else I wrote is probably because I consider myself funny. I realize this does not always translate into collective consciousness.

I think we should take all the bitching and moaning and put them in one "sticky" thread. It\'s pretty much the same thing every couple of months. It would be like a FAQ. :-)

and i don\'t mean that as disrespect to you, sammie. just i\'ve been on many a music message board for the past decade and the same thing happens everytime.
a discussion gets deleted that quite frankly warrants it. this leads to the perpetual rabble rousing where someone says \'hey why do you delete that, free speech, yada yada yada.\' and they somehow equate that to communism of some sort and thinking it will lead to the oppression of the members of such internet community. this usually just annoys the administrator more, since they are already annoyed enough to delete the initial problem. which in turn leads to string of deletions, members being banned, eventually the entire board being shut down cuz quite frankly, no one wants to put up with all that when they\'ve been donating their time and money for years to host the site.
so in the best interest of the site, we should just put the whole skirmish behind us and move on since lets face it, its not that big a deal.

see this is the problem. no matter what you do someone always will find a problem or an issue to complain about
the thread got nuked. I told you why **** deal with it.
If you don\'t like that feel free to start your own message board / website and run it anyway you see fit.

This message board has been barely moderated in the 7 years or so i have had anything to do with it. That was peck territory
nothing will change as far as moderating goes. it was a suggestion / thought. (one I happen to think would be a good idea)

There is the Feedback Monster Thread to be used for "constructive criticism" as well... I\'m not sure if there\'s actually anyone keeping an eye on it from a admin or mod perspective now...

I\'m all for free speech, but that thread was doing more harm than good. I think kindms did the right thing in getting rid of it. we can now use this as an impetus to discuss the future of dot info in a civil manner. nobody is going to censor anyone\'s opinion when it comes to music or whatever, but like any discussion board, this one has rules, and i know a few were broken in that thread.

If someone has an opinion on how things are done around here - whether positive or negative - should anyone with admin. powers be able to nuke those opinions right off the site? If someone says that the \'Synergy\' from Crash Mansion wasn\'t nearly as good as the last time they played it at Toads - or that Dangles is preferred over Ron, or that they hate horns - so f*ck K Fu - are these all good enough reasons to censor another fairly harmless thread? Come on, man. It\'s basically music - and people\'s opinions about the music. The music, and the gigs are, of course, these guy\'s livelihood - and we should all respect that, and try to help them in promoting and patronizing their shows. But unless someone was personally attacking one of the guys in the band, and they objected to it, I would think that we\'re talking about unreasonable censorship here.
Enjoy the music, folks - cuz we are so lucky to have these guys around performing the \'off-the-hook\' schtuff that they lay on us on a regular basis. Respect their feelings, but please don\'t stop expressing your opinions on their shows, and their set lists, etc. And, as administrators of this - or any similar band site - PLEASE DO NOT CENSOR!!!!!!!

I don\'t doubt your webdesign skills, just you were saying how if you were to make it, it would be under a blanket forum for fusion music, etc and that is the one complaint i had. plus we\'ve already lost enough posters as is, moving dot info to another forum requiring people to sign up again would likely lose another percentage of people who still exist here.

idk what you mean by funhouse tho brah, just cuz I am one funky homosapien doesn\'t mean I\'m not a pro. Got like a decade amateur and a handful of years pro-level marketing experience, so if I got ideas that may help the band or be cool for the fans I might just spill \'em to see if they gain any tractions. Almost always, they do not.
Anyway I\'ve modded a bunch of boards and admin\'d a couple as well. Give me powers if you want. But I would only use it to update calendar & make new threads & fix obvious errors. Closing threads and censoring speech is not my style.
After all this site is simply the evolution of PBFans ... which means it\'s not for the band. It\'s by the fans, for the fans.
That said, I don\'t really think threads should be deleted either. If the first amendment don\'t apply on http://www.THEBREAKFAST.info , where the f does it?

I was gonna post this in the bitchfest but I guess here is as good a place as any...
Without this site I\'d have no idea when a show was going on or where, I don\'t make it out near as much as I used to but I like to make it out when I can. I don\'t much care for the side projects anymore... I can barely make Breakfast shows these days. Occasionally I like to get out and see a solo show. Unfortunately the Fu is not that high on my agenda just because I have to pick and choose my shows lately... can\'t make it to every show but the webcasts are much appreciated. Facebook does nothing for me with Breakfast shows... I\'d rather come here, when the mood strikes to see some music, and see a calendar with the shows listed. P.S. - Galenas... you\'ve been doing a fine job... silly!
It\'s clear that the boys just want to play and record music and not worry too much about websites... this is a fan site after all, run by fans and they really have no obligation to post shows here, though it would be nice if they took the time to inform the masses of the shows coming up. The new fans deserve to know where they can catch a show.
I\'ve done what I can over the years to support the band whenever possible but those days of strings of shows and Black Thursdays and all the fun and debauchery that went with them are coming to an end... it\'s time for new fans to get out and do those runs and pull in to work after no sleep and a few too many.
...I just hope they\'ll have a site to look at so they can find the shows, it does help.
and furthermore... eat a d! There... that\'s better, imagine a thread taking off with no negativity... NOT ON MY WATCH!

no arguments here. I like it, this site might be old, but it still serves a valuable purpose. i think since peck always ran this place with an OCD like presence, we got used to that and with him gone this is like a ship with no captain. it still has value and the last thing i want is a. this site to be destroyed or b. it to become part of bdfreetuna\'s fun house, no offense, but i like dot info just how it is with a few minor tweaks here and there.

are you deleting all bitchy posts? because you may need to hire a few people part time to take care of all of it. seriously, i think if you just lock it, it would be sufficient. there were probably some good suggestions in there. i suppose we could just start a new thread for constructive criticism of the actual site

Just an FYI I nuked the thread.
It wasn\'t serving a good purpose and was just devolving more and more.
My 2 suggestions for the site if people want to keep the structure but want it more neat and tidy
1) I can promote a few people who want to take it upon themselves to help get gigs posted. You would be Moderators or Super Moderators
2) I think it is about time that we actually moderate threads. Sometimes (and I am just as guilty of this as others) things get a little out of hand here (on the negative front) and if a mod came in and said watch it or even locked threads etc we would all be much happier.
This site has for the most part been a free for all and only a handful of places on the net let that stuff slide and seeing how this is for the band and it should highlight them and not drag them down I think it is for the best.
Thoughts ?
